Great reporting Rusty! Keeping an eye on this one. Spent a fair amount of time in the north eye wall of Ian on the western side of Port Charlotte, didn’t like it, and this system has me a bit concerned.

Me and my wife have a trip planned to Cancun Thursday the 26th to Monday the 30th. If what I’m understanding correctly the storm shouldn’t stop us from getting to the country from the US? It should be passed the Yucatán by that point? But we can probably expect some higher rain chances throughout our vacation? Thanks for any help. I’ve been watching models nonstop for the past few days trying to learn and understand to see if I have to make a decision to cancel our trip.
I don’t give specific vacation advice in regards to cancellation or change in your plans. What I will say is, based on what I’m seeing today, the direct impacts from this disturbance/Helene should be well north of Cancun by Thursday. -Rusty

There is nothing formed in the gulf yet, what are the chances nothing forms? 30%?
The NHC has already upped the chance to 80%, so you could extrapolate that there is a 20% chance of no development. But, based on trends and models, it’s becoming very likely that we get something tropical out of that area. -Rusty
@@meteomundo Just saw that, man..i have a trip planned to Orlando this weekend. Been planned and paid for since March. Of course the week I go we may see a Hurricane. Im hoping it doesn't make landfall.... :(
