    I've been looking for this video for awhile... on my analog board I have the cloud burst in stereo, which sounds fantastic. However, I've not been able to get that same sounds via QC-fxloop. This is very helpful indeed and gives me some options to try. Thanks again to the #1 source for QC tips & tricks!

      Always happy to help. I think I was able to get the Halo sounding pretty good in the FX Loop. Hopefully the same approach will work with the Cloud Burst.

      Hi guys!!! same here great video! I just mounted my first pedalboard just to add the cloudburst to the Quad and hope was worth it. I"ve tried using the 2 blocks separately but sometimes it makes one of the sides extend the notes endless. like kind of feedback or something like that. Sorry I"m new to all of this. Cheers guys!

    Thanks for explaining trails!! I don’t do much switching between presets so Ive never noticed the abrupt cut offs yet. Now it makes sense lol i always left it on anyways but at least it makes more sense!

    thanks for doing this, not sure if you know but the halo was in mono the entire time. I use one sometimes and you can tell for sure when it is in stereo.

      Huh, I guess I just assumed when you hooked it up in stereo the effect would be automatically using that. So you need to enable stereo in some way? (I was borrowing this Halo from a friend and don't know it super well)

    Hey there. Really finding your vids insanely helpful atm, after recently getting a QC. Just wondering I'm trying to run my timeline and big sky through the fx loops, so need two fx loops in my preset/scene. Do know where would be a good way to arrange them? I would of thought after the amp on the line?
    the timeline was fine, but was getting some Distorted sound with the verbs in the big sky for some reason. Seems to be a level issue, but can't work out why it would be doing that, where the timeline worked fine straight away and sounded great. Sorry my explanation is confusing. Must be a level thing somewhere within the fx loop setting.

      I got the same kind of thing from the Halo (at around 9:57). What I ended up doing was dropping the send level to the Halo by 8 dB. Then you can bring up the return level to compensate if needed.

    Quick question did you find during this testing that when you placed the effects one and two at the end of your signal chain that it boosted things?
    I'm noticing this even when I'm putting my looper pedal or something at the very end of my chain... If I have FX1 and 2 enabled it pumps it up a few DB.

    Hey, thanks for your continued line of QC videos! I recently purchased an ODD Box overdrive pedal to use with my QC for no particular reason other than I’ve always heard that real overdrive pedals with a modeler sound better than a modeled OD pedal whether that’s true or not.
    I had a problem though because when I added the pedal to the FX loop and placed it before my amp block, I got a ton of loud hiss and I already have a noise gate on because I play primarily high gain amp models and overdrives but even still, the noise was unbearable. I’m used to high gain amps with ODs and 4 cable method etc but never had persistent noise like this especially when using a gate. I played with the FX loop levels a bit which helped only slightly and I had the level on the pedal at about noon but still too much noise.
    The worst part was that if I disabled the FX loop block, I still got a lot of hiss coming through the signal chain with pedal still in the “ON” or engaged position. I’d have to literally turn off both the pedal and the block which defeats the purpose of using a block at all if I have to manually engage/disengage the pedal anyway.
    Long story short, I haven’t used the pedal since day one because of the noise. It just sits on my pedalboard doing nothing.

    • @davlavmusic7070
      @davlavmusic7070  6 місяців тому

      Weird that the hiss is still there when the block is off. Is it coming from the pedal? Have you tried switching the trails off on the FX block?

    • @Jason-Taylor
      @Jason-Taylor 6 місяців тому

      @@davlavmusic7070 Yeah, the pedal is the only new piece added and all this hiss goes away when I turn the pedal off. Just disabling the FX loop block that the pedal is connected to does get rid of the noise which is concerning. It’s as if noise is leaking into the signal chain through the loop even though the loop is disabled. I feel like I’ve seen posts in the QC forum regarding noisy loops so I should search for them.
      I’ll have to revisit the whole thing again in the near future. I didn’t spend a lot of time on it because I was at practice when I first tried to use it and when I couldn’t get it working right within 5-10 minutes, I had to move on and just play.
      Thanks for the reply.

      @@Jason-TaylorJason did you have your pedal in the input fx #1 not the loop? Try it and see. Pick input 1 and see if it hisses. It should be quiet. I use a lot of gain and external pedals pushing the amp and it’s quiet. Sometimes it may need a bit of noise gate. But nothing like what ur saying talking about.

    Thanks for making these vids. Learning so much QC stuff from your channel :)
    Do you know if it is possible to have two separate stereo FX loops on the QC? For example by using TRS Y-splitter cables, with all TRS-ends in the QC FX outs/ins and all the 2xTS-ends in the external pedals. Our would that still make it mono?

    • @davlavmusic7070
      @davlavmusic7070  5 місяців тому +1

      I think it would still be mono once it came back into the QC.

    • @woof-da
      @woof-da 3 місяці тому +1

      Currently it's limited to either dual mono loops or one stereo loop.

    I use a Quad Cortex with a Strat. Your videos have helped me a great deal. I have been using the FX loop to add my Strymon Big Sky to my Quad Cortex signal chains. It works well except I have had issues getting the MIDI out function of the Quad Cortex to change to different reverbs on the Big Sky via MIDI when I change to a different preset. On my Fractal AX8 it worked well. I have the MIDI channel set to 1 on both units. I am using the CC function. I have tried multiple configurations of the MIDI out on the Quad Cortex. I cannot figure out why they are not communicating. Hopefully you can give me insight. The Big Sky has 300 presets but I am limited to 3 if I am unable to get the MIDI to make changes for me.
    Thanks

      Sorry, I don't have much experience using the midi on the QC so nothing jumps to mind to fix your issue. I'll look into it.

    What cables should you use in tgehe effects loop? Are they TRS?

    These videos would be a lot better soundwise if your voice was miked up instead of hearing the in room sound.

      I do use a mic, I'm not sure why the sound when I'm on the computer sounded so much like room echo. The sound when I'm at the floor device sounded better I think. Most of the other videos are sounding ok - I'm still learning the best approach overall.
