  • I downloaded the top 10 (or so) presets from the Cortex Cloud. Let's check them out and see what we can learn for our own presets.
    You can find all the presets under my Neural account (davlavMusic).

    As far as I know this is the best channel to really deep dive into the QC and so please keep making this kind of content, whatever inspires you, or reviewing top presets or new features as they are released, or design methods. As I have worked with the QC there really is an insane amount of possibilities available to us and so any and all clarity or workflows would be helpful to the community of musicians which make use of this unit. And as always, thank you.

    Best QC channel on the Internet! I have learned more from your channel than all of the other QC channels combined. Great stuff!!!

    Your videos are really helpful. One curious downside of the QC is the plethora of patches that can be downloaded, which can prevent exploring and tinkering.

      There are a lot of them. Maybe that's why I rarely grab presets from the cloud - where do you start?

    could you do an updated video on the overdrives, specifically the new fuzzes? Ive been binging your videos even tho i've had a qc for years, like others said, you're just that good at going in depth

      I think that might be a good video. It's actually one of my biggest gripes about the QC - I don't think the fuzzes are that great. Maybe I'll mix in some of the fuzz captures from the Cortex Cloud as a comparison...

    Hello Cortex Man 😊, thank you for all your videos, I hope you can make a video where you give advice on how to organize presets (by bands or better by tones...); I wonder if it is really possible in QC to make or have in a single preset most of the tones of each band (there are many different presets in the cloud like: lead, main, clean...), wouldn't it be better to optimize by having all sounds in one preset? (if possible of course 😅) thank you and sorry for the long text. A hug!

      I think you can get a wide range of tones out of a single preset. An overview of my core preset is here: ua-cam.com/video/5SE-znRpr2g/v-deo.html I think i get a good range of stuff from pure clean to a Satriani kind of lead tone. I also created a similar preset using just the Kraken amps.

    Thank you for this great video. My set up is a QC going through a Fender FR FR and I also have the PRS like yours. However when I play it on any of the presets that you’ve outlined, I’m not getting the kind of sharp attack that you were getting. The fact that you’re going through logic and that I’m going through an FR FR shouldn’t make any difference however it does. Do you think it has anything to do with the way I’m setting up the main volume output of the QC (set in the middle) and the volume of my fender FR FR. I would love to get your view on this. Paul

      Not sure. But I know that NDSP recommends keeping the QC master volume at 100. Anything less is attenuation and may affect the tone.

    Would love to see you make a livin’ on a prayer talk box setting. Can’t get it even remotely close

    • @davlavmusic7070
      @davlavmusic7070  Місяць тому +1

      Is that even possible on a modeler? A talk box is a very specific effect.

      @nickbranson8363 Місяць тому

      @davlavmusic7070 that's my first thought. The best thing to do is buy (or make) and actual talk box and just use it alongside your QC, but I suppose you could theoretically make something acceptable happen with the right envelope filter and very careful articulation 🤔

    Something I am still not quite sure how to set up correctly is my guitar input level at the QC.
    If I leave it at zero I almost see nothing on my AU meter inside the QC when playing more “normally”. Also most amps and presets sound “not driven enough”. Where is your guitar input level at?
    I currently settled to set it up so my guitar input peaks at around -10 to -12db when I really dig in. But it feels weird to set it up like that. Normal amps do not have a separate guitar input level 😅 but 0db seems not enough for my Tele.
    Computer plugin users should set I 0db on most high z audio interfaces as I recently learned, but QC?
    Thanks for any input (see what I did there) on that topic 😊

      I am also wondering about this, as well as output level. I normally dial my tones from QC into an Audio Interface to Studio Monitors. With the Audio Interface Input levels set to 0 I was still clipping, decided to lower output level of QC by -10db for headroom but this left my amps in the QC feeling weak as you said.

    • @davlavmusic7070
      @davlavmusic7070  Місяць тому +1

      I usually do not adjust the input level at all. On my HSS strat, the neck pickup is usually only pushing -24dB of input and it works fine for me. For the output I usually have the preset pushing at about -5dB to 0dB on the output and have not had any clipping issues.

      @@davlavmusic7070 thanks for the insight :) love what you’re doing and the sounds you get out of these things!
      I will set it back to 0db and play around with it. It is probably hard to get the preset of someone else to sound as intended when people adjust guitar levels differently 😅 so 0db would be a good default.
