That blue rag is there because the screen is leaking a sticky goo - so the rag catches it. This was one of the other issues I wanted them to fix during the 17 days they had the car. The app-person wouldn't even consider it.

Another reason I didn't push for the loaner is because I was in Ireland the first week they had the car...and then coming back the app said it would be able to be picked up. Each day as it neared the "pick up" time - the app would move the pick up to 5pm the next day. Each day I would think...oh, its only one more day.

Tinesha, I highly recommend LEXUS! We’ve had a BMW suv, Infinity suv, and a Mercedes. Hands down LEXUS is # 1 in my opinion!! We are now in our 3rd LEXUS and will never buy another vehicle type! They last forever and are very low maintenance! Best of all, phenomenal customer service in ALL aspects! They also have a lounge with snacks/drinks, working area, etc., when you bring your car. Definitely voice your opinion to Tesla! Wish you all the best!

Considering how Elon treats his Twitter corporate employees, it makes sense this would trickle down to all of his businesses. I rented a Tesla for work once and it was cool but I didn't like the charging time involved. My next car will be a Toyota 4Runner all day!

Sorry for your experience! I’m BMW girl, but I thought Tesla would be my next car. Simply put, I cannot support anything dealing with Elon. He was not a US citizen, but became a billionaire from government subsidies. Now, he’s the richest man in the world pedaling conspiracy theories and hate. I still have Tesla stock in my portfolio, but it will be sold asap!

Lexus does have an EV but, to me not worth considering at this point unless, you mainly will use if for local commuting and don't drive it fast. Range is 266 miles on 18" wheels and 196 if you get the sport version with 20" wheels, for the price at this stage in 2024, you may as well get the Toyota version.

Your comments are so much appreciated. So far my 2 year old Model 3 hasn't had many trips to the Service Center, but I feel your frustration. You spend hard-earned money for your vehicle and when the lack of professionalism takes place, you've been taken advantage of. Not sure where you're located, but the Libertyville, IL Service Center has been very good, so far. I get to talk to the Service Advisor and the actual technician. Maybe you can go back and insist to talk to someone and show the dirty areas and the "spare part". Your expressions are amazing when you explain how you really feel!. Thanks for this video!

I enjoy them, and their customer service. I love to be able to talk to someone. I pray that never changes. Oh my goodness, no loaner car, and 7K! Yeah, that is crazy! I’m sorry you had to go through this, it very unfortunate. Great video!

That’s unfortunate. I live in the Northern Virginia area and the one in Tysons has always been exceptional. Their lounge is open with coffee and wifi which I used. Go for Rivian or the upcoming Lucid Gravity. My neighbor has Lucid car but it’s small for us. We have the R1S and when I’ve paid off our model Y, I’ll probably move to the Rivian R3 when it comes out.

I have been skeptical of this Tesla as a customer service ever since Rich Rebuilds posted the story of his trying to buy a used Tesla from a Tesla dealership. I could not have written a more insane story if I sat down with a team of comedy writers. It was one of Rich Rebuilds first videos, everyone should watch that.
As a project manager myself with 30 years experience so many red flags were going off in my head about how these problems would only explode with exponentially higher sales. They built a million cars a year from nothing cars a year which only meant exponentially more customer service problems to deal with. On a few ocassions I met people who at one point worked for Tesla service and customer service and my first question was how did you ever get hired in the first place. These are people who were turned down from Costco, UPS, etc.

I remember when you purchased your car. We both purchased these cars 2016-2018 era.
Back then, it was a totally different experience. I too, experienced the same poor experiences with my two Tesla cars.
Quality control has gone down tremendously. I’m also a Black American, not that this should matter, but you have to factor in the common denominator when you’ve gone through experiences like this.
I do hope Tesla get this right! Overall, I purchased this product due to low maintenance, cost benefit analysis to other cars I’ve ever owned. It’s time for you to make some hard choices.
Good luck! Love your common sense and logical approach in all of your videos.

Sounds like a dilemma I was just faced with... this is coming from a 2014 P85 owner and a former employee. I had an issue where one of my rear half-shafts (axle shaft connecting each wheel to the motor) popped out. Tesla wanted to replace the entire rear motor at a similar cost. I asked, why can't you just replace the half shafts (or pop it back in lol), they said no they don't do that but I can find another place to do that. Which is what I did. Found a local HTX 3rd party repair shop (all of them pretty much are run/opened by ex Tesla technicians) who said that 90% of the time the motor is fine and they have replaced the half shafts for an acceptable and much cheaper repair cost of about $2k. Not sure where you're based out of, but I have heard similar sentiments from many folks (including my wife who is a big fan of the car but not the way service has been in the few instances I've had to visit them).
As big of a fan as I am of them and as much as I love this car, I'm really looking forward to getting a Rivian R1T in the future with the NACS port, as that's a major reason why I kept w/Tesla. My wife wants a Genesis GV60 (which is also very nice).

I had the same experience; I am shocked because I am a Tesla fan but never owned one until this year. Car went in for service and it got it dirty as can be in and out. Besides the customer service was horrible. They do not care and are not worried if you as a customer knows that they don't care. Also, that's a no on the loaner. My issue was under warranty, and they just told me workout your own transportation. I love the car, but service could be what brings the company down and also Elon and his politics.

I’ve been thinking about going back to Lexus too. But I went the Heavy duty big truck route with the Ford 250. Mom & granny said it was a bad idea….i tell you today they were right, outside of Lexus most these cars are nothing but money pits. Mom gave me the Lx470 & even when I dogged the vehicle out, off roading/hitting curbs/heavy on the gas pedal, that truck never seen the shop unless wit was for an oil change. My F250 is always needing work & upgrades.

I am a Canadian who grew up in the automotive industry. When I was young, it was common for my father, brother, and eventually myself to purchase new vehicles every two or three years. We typically drove GM products, but over time the quality and service was so bad that I gave up on GM, and American made vehicles in general. After purchasing my first Japanese car I was really pleased with the vehicle I bought and the excellent service that I received. In recent years I bought a new Dodge, and then a new Ford F-150. They were OK, but not as good as I was used to, so I got rid of them fairly quickly and bought a new Japanese SUV.
I spent a few months in China last year, and I was driven around in several EVs, including a Tesla. I was WAY more impressed with the Chinese EVs than I was with the Tesla. It is amazing that people will pay so much for Teslas that I feel are rather bland to look at and have a significant amount of reported quality issues. On the other hand, it's their money and they should buy what makes them happy.

I own a 2016 Mercedes-Benz. It is out of warranty. Every time I have something fixed I pay thousands of dollars. But the customer service is bar none. I get a free loaner. They treat me with respect. It’s all about quality control. If I had any issues with the repair like yours today, they immediately resolve the problem. I don’t have to make an appointment to get it fixed again. Shame on Tesla. I too was yearning for a Tesla. But I refuse to give Elon Musk my money, that a..h.

Was in the market recently and was considering Tesla and, in addition to it challenging my principles , this was literally the exact reason I decided to pass. Did research on the service center that I’d end up having to use if I went that route and found consistent complaints of the exact issues you pointed out here. Decided it wasn’t worth the hassle. As for Lucid, you may want to research the health of the company first before deciding to go that route. Questionable whether they are going to make it as a going concern in my opinion. Stock is awful. Maybe they get purchased or may they go the way of Fisker. Who knows. Consider the Cadillac Lyriq.

With Tesla it’s like they want to help, but not really. Their customer service needs a complete overhaul. My recent new car purchase was a toxic hell stew. Brand new car was dirty on delivery day and a seat needed to be recovered and the hood repainted. It’s like they have zero quality control. Then service caused more damage when making repairs. Tesla technology is amazing, but their lack of service is beyond bad. I did use mobile service for my last repair and that seemed better. The mobile tech was friendly and did quality work.

Hey fun and budget family your so on point and agree with everything you said in the video and I’m a 2021 Model Y owner I voted on your last to trade it.
Mine has finally been fixed after 3 battery replacements
Yes all is on the app you can only see them when you have a service appointment the service team at Tysons got it on the 3 time the 2 nd time I was told by the service manager they will put a new battery and it be a couple of weeks and one week later I get the notification on my phone to come pick up my car it’s ready I looked in the repair notes it said the mechanic reset the battery and I left a message hey we reset it before and 5 days later it failed and would not charge
And as usual 7 days later got same error message and it would not charge
Tesla finally got it I’m at 22,000 miles under warranty so I paid zero
But the other things like the loaner car was very dirty and when I got my car back it was not cleaned either I can’t drive a dirty car
I paid for car washing and air freshener when I returned theirs
I paid 75 to have a tire patch and my inspection was due and yea you would had thought they would had just done it
My family friend had a Lexus and I have to say they have the best service center the one in Alexandria Va they had fresh cookies bake every couple hours fruit tea coffee snacks
But I agree Elon actions I don’t agree or like but I’m definitely going to trade mine before the warranty’s expire and I agree with all you said I don’t miss the gas stations at all or the no maintenance I had a Nissan before my Tesla and every month it was 1,600-1,900 repairs I get asked all the time too from people asking hey I’m thinking about getting a Tesla any advice and I give them the great advice but I agree I do think Tesla needs to step up the customer service for the owners it’s like you only get the best service if you in their to buy a new one but

Look...when I had my Lexus and service would take an hour or 3...I would just hang out in their lounge and do work...it was so comfy and had different rooms with different lounge experiences. Tesla started off with a decent lounge and then they took that away.SMH...so sorry you had to go through all of that. Had it not been for the car being paid off - I would have traded it in (I need to make another video) but before fixing it, they offered me $7500 for the trade in.

I agree with your complaints on service. I'm moving on to Lucid Air GT. Tesla has taken away their focus on customer loyalty and quality Service. I have owned 2 Model S, and my current one is 2020 Performance. I encourage you to Test drive the Air Grand touring. unless you utilize the full tesla multimedia system (games, Netflix, UA-cam etc.) The Lucid is a better car. I'm changing when they make the Air with the NACS port. I'm not a big SUV person, so I prefer the Air over the Gravity which will come with the NACS port. I mention NACS port because no one has a better Supercharging network than Tesla when I travel a long road trip. FYI: Peter Rawlinson of Lucid use to be with Tesla as the Chief Engineer for the Model S. He left because of disagreements with Elon on design improvements. Now he has made a team that created a better car than the Model S in many ways. I see you as a very intelligent Woman, this is why I share this with you. I admire your content you share.

Girl! Then I would be mad I gotta spend time writing letters and reaching out to people to complain. That is ridiculous. I always get a loaner car when I get my BMW serviced but even they’re changing that to only if you’re getting more than one service but at least they wash and clean it. Tesla should be ashamed and shamed. Smh

So sorry for this experience, it sounds just plain sloppy. I am very fortunate to have amazing service centers here in Oregon. However, it’s sounds like the experience for many is varied across the country. Tesla needs to across the board reform to make service a better experience.

I agree, the service has gone downhill. I got a model S back n 2021 and when it was in the shop Tesla would give me $100 in uber credits and if they needed to keep it overnight I would get a loaner. I went 2 days ago to the same dealership and got no uber credits and no loaner even though they had to keep it overnight and one of the issues I had with my Tesla wasn't resolved so I have to go back again.

I’m a Tesla owner as well. We are looking a second car. I also automatically would be looking at Tesla. But not anymore. To your last point, how can I ethically look away from not only his comments but now his actions? How can I morally give $100k (look at a EV truck) to someone who not only advocates to cause my loved one’s and myself emotional, financial and physical harm but is now in a position in government to act out on those frighten and quite frankly, malevolent thoughts? Answer is I can’t. Looking at the GMC Sierra Denali EV. Way more range and has access to the Supercharger network.

To recommend an alternative I have a few questions.
    Do you own or rent?
    Can you charge at home?
How often do you drive over 40 miles?
Are you more concerned about luxury and brand?
What features are most important to you in a car?
What service expectations are most important to you in a service center?

@@FunandBudget I believe you would really enjoy a Lucid vehicle. It offers excellent performance and luxury, along with one of the longest ranges available on the road. Starting in 2025, Lucid models will be able to use Tesla’s supercharger network. The 2025 models will come equipped with a compatible charge port, while older models will require an adapter.
If you encounter any issues, Lucid provides convenient service options. They can send a repair van to your location, bring a loaner vehicle and take your car for repairs, or arrange a rental for you at Hertz if that suits you better.
As alternatives, you might consider Mercedes or BMW. Both brands will also support Tesla’s superchargers in 2025, but they do not offer the same range as Lucid.

It's not just Tesla... It's with most car companies... I have an 2017 Hyundai Sante Fe Sport. And I have been to three separate dealerships and I hate them all. I bring my car to the dealership for all services, Oil Changes, Tire issues, all the recalls, and everything. When all the auto mechanics went on strike across Illinois and I think the United States my dealership / Hyundai didn't and they were taking everyone else on. They threw us, normal customers, to the side and cared more about the others because I think they were charging them to move or something. Since that happened in 2019 it's never been the same. Covid made it 1000% worse. To where I'm never going back to Hyundai for a new car. After this car ran its course going to another brand even though Hyundai has the best Warranty, but what's the point if you're getting crappy service.

its unfortunate that at the very end it became an anti Elon video but Ill try my very best to ignore that part. Everything else in this video was completely valid, all your frustration was well worded. I got my Tesla model 3 in 2023. I love so many things about it. Charging at home, all the smart features, cooling/warming the car in extreme weather, charging network, the minimalism in the interior. The only thing I dread someday is going to the service center. Its obvious that Tesla has completely deprioritized service and instead focuses on selling as much cars as possible to satisfy share holders and to keep growing the company. Was already considering selling my Tesla sometime before the battery warranty runs out, and might just go back to gas for peace of mind that I can always find a good trustworthy repair shop. You can find really good shops based off google maps reviews. Tesla really needs to get their act together. I don't want to have to leave my car in the shop one day and have to fork over hundreds, possibly thousands of dollars for rentals just because Tesla doesn't want third more technicians

You're right...my issues with what happened has nothing to do with Elon and I should have left him out of the video but I also wouldn't say this became an anti Elon video either - In my frustration, I expressed one sentiment. And you are also right...as much as I'm not a gas fan...I may have to go back :-(

Ohh ohhh, i just got a tesla despite Elon. I wish the tesla board could get rid of him. However, I got the 2025 Model Y, so far, the car is going well. Just got the car this October. So, hopefully, if I have any issues, I will see how the service is. But if I have service, I will inspect the vehicle before I leave, and if anything is wrong it be addressed right on the spot. You paid a lot for services. Was your car out of warranty? I'm just curious. They say EVs are supposed to be low maintenance, but i guess only if under warranty. I am in Georgia, so I will see how my experience goes with tesla. If they offer me a bad experience, I will sell or trade it. So i I will do my best to keep it in good condition before the warranty runs out. My car was only 32000 after $7500, $2000 in rebate with military and referral plus trade in. Thxs for you video

    • @FunandBudget
      @FunandBudget  2 місяці тому

Hi Greg...Yes my car is out of warranty - hence even more reason why I should be treated better as a customer because I'm paying real money. I also covered why it is impossible to "address someone on the spot." Not possible. The doors are locked to the service center. My rear drive unit went out (second time it happened) - that part has nothing to do with how well you take care of the car. I hear the newer cars are even more reliable so hopefully you won't have any of these issues and if you do, I just say make the decision that is right for you at the time :-)

I own a Tesla and it's unfortunately true. Tesla's first priority is not build quality, customer service, or retaining customers, it's making the sale of the car no matter what and also progressing their vision of the AI future. It just sucks cause their Products and vision are nice but they do so much cost cutting/savings which then causes the Customer Service + quality of the Product to end up suffering.
I've had a few good Mobile Service experiences but when I was forced to take my Tesla into the Service Center, i ended up getting back my car and it had some scratches on things + they didn't even fix the concern I came in for. If you complain, they'll fix it for free but then there's a huge wait and a huge concern that they'll cause additional issues for you.
With Teslas, you have to pray that your Tesla Service Center is really good or you don't experience issues that would cause for a physical visit to the Service Center. The car, software, and EV/driving experience are super nice but just everything else is just 😭.

I always wanted to go w tesla but the expense and only getting the basic interior... I just couldnt see the price wo having that luxurious interior u find in expensive cars. So i stuck with my little leaf. No issues at all. However this year I said let me see abt tesla. BUT now aft your review NOPE. I want an ev that has a lot of milage.
