I'm the same age as Stephen, he's been on my TV since mid 80s. He is like a fine wine, getting better with each passing year. Why do we love him so much?
What the hell!?! Why'd this stop! I was prepared to listen to this forever more. Would someone kindly kidnap Mr Fry and politely force him to tell this story for years on end.
Yeh, Ill get him lol. What a privilege it would be just t o spend 5 minutes chatting with him. Such a beautiful mind that does no harm and strives to make the world around him a better place
@@brianmckay1256 Ok, hang on a sec. When I said someone ought to politely kidnap him, I was of course suggesting that I should probably be invited along too! Someone needs to be there to make him drinks, fetch sandwiches, etc, whatever he needs. Apart from that, I completely agree with you.
This should be bottled up and given as prescription to anyone suffering from stress. It might be a very good book, but it's not quite the same without Stephen reading it aloud with his calm voice in a comfortable chair :P
Quite by chance, I fell upon this site. I am Greek and we were taught the Odyssey and the Iliad at school we even had to learn verses to recite by heart in ancient as well as modern Greek. I thoroughly enjoyed your storytelling. All the while I was listening I was thinking, had it been in rhyme it would have been the same manner Homer would have said it. Can't thank you enough for this wonderful narration. THANK YOU!
I'm following Stephen for years. I was raised as a humanist and it is my religon. He should lead the human race to its real purpose. We are so poor in this materialistic world. Life is happening in another level. It is approachable for everyone. Fry can show us the way. ☯️🌶️
Loved the beginning: "Are you sitting comfortably?" and before the next comment, I was back sitting at the French windows listening to "Listen with Mother"
I started hiking a few years both for my physical and mental health and choose Stephens audiobook on Greek mythology on my first couple of hikes. I thoroughly recommend it, I got the beautiful views of the Welsh hills and mountains and Stephen teaching me history better than my old history teacher ever could
I can't remember the last time i was able to watch/listen to someone telling a story without being distracted elsewhere. Especially for an hour long! Stephen Fry is a treasure beyond measure!
Magical. I can listen to Mr Fry all day and to hear him read his own creation was sublime. His Greek myth series are little short of genius. I shall rise from my knees now.
Absolutely delightfully conveyed. Last few sentences telling why story of Troy should be heard. And it’s only small part of Greek Mitology. Thank you Mr. Stephen Fry. 👋
This was so brilliant to listen to! I had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Fry perform part of his Mythos at the Shaw festival in Canada, and this brought me back to that wonderful performance. Thank you!
A wonderful storey teller. I was enthralled, my scences attuned, my imagination awakened as never before. I saved the reading and look forward listening to it many times. Thank you Mr Fry for a truly fantastical experience.
Having just listened to the full audiobook read by Stephen Fry himself I must say this has been and is supreme enjoyment !! absolutely good time spent in listening, and good time spent in the writing as well !! Stephen Fry has done a grand thing. One point of wonder, the fact that Paris raided Sparta and did steal breaking the rules of hospitality, and then on the way back to Troy his party seemed to raid along the shores, killing Sidon and stealing, all of this activity and what had to occur during the siege of Troy to supplement the army in the field there, a continued need to raid and pillage for foods and what not, all of this sounds very much like actions of the "Sea Peoples" at the collapse of the Bronze Age, or the actions taking place in the end decades of the said Bronze Age. I enjoyed the small addition or mention of A Conan Doyle and Sherlock Holmes/Dr. Watson, Doyle being a Gemini by birth I have always seen the two famous characters as each side of the Gemini twins nature, something Im very familiar with being Gemini myself :)
Thanks, Stephen! Homer could have done no better. Took me right back to age 7 - 8 when I first came across these tales. In kiddie books, but more memorably, in the Classics Illustrated version. Wonderful series that hooked me on the Iliad, Mark Twain, Dickens & sundry others. Today of course they'd be marketed as 'graphic novels' for kids.
He should be declared god of facilitation. If he were to tell the story in original language (or the exact translation) nobody would ever understand what he was talking about. It's a great simplified version for those who have interest in ancient literature but lacking literature. I'm simply astonished !
I developed a trust to Stephen Fry, and I disregarded my disrespect to actors profession sins. I was offered to be an actor in my youth I have my own opinion. It seems that Stephen Fry’s contribution to humanity is more of an educator, and the one who brings inspiration by exploring classical mythology, and pointing out how truth about human behavior has not changed and the world as we know, it is made out of feminine and masculine and the epic struggle for survival of the species Carved scarf scars on every heart I know #Bogoslowsky , a.k.a. immortal king Gilgamesh
The truth about the who/what/where/when/why of Troy: "The Trojan War of 650 BC," by Wilson and Blackett (Second Edition, Cymroglyphics). It's not what you've been told.

If only there was some way of hearing him tell the whole story........
I could listen to him reading the phone book! ❤ #stephenfryrocks

Ah, a missed chance to have it all, had he only chose WISDOM.

Just an idea: ditch the headphones and the audio distractions and let your mind roam free in those hills. Much better for you!
You are a genius Mr. Fry.
Thanks for all your audiobook productions. All of them are magnificent.
I can't remember the last time i was able to watch/listen to someone telling a story without being distracted elsewhere. Especially for an hour long! Stephen Fry is a treasure beyond measure!
❤ love this. Was terribly lonely. Found a friend in this. Hope other people can. Love Johnny 😊❤.
All in one take at the age of what 70? Fry can be likened in spirit to the legends he speaks

i read this book - it's absolutely fantastic. I couldn't put it down. Highly recommend it.
Protect this treasure of a man at all costs!
I keep playing this when I'm about to sleep. Mr. Fry has a soothing voice. Thank you for this 😊.
Four generations in my family absolutely love Mr Fry. Listened to his readings i don't know how many times. Soul of QI. Sweden loves you sir.

Remarkable storytelling by a master with one of the world's greatest tales. Wonderful, every moment.

How wonderful 🙏
Thank you so much! That was captivating ❤
Oh this was wonderful. What a legend. LOVE the accents.
Only Stephen Fry could so easily get away with getting a "DOH!" from Homer into that story.
Thank you, so much, for your wonderful work.
Loved his mythology series books but to hear him telling the story was awesome.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
He’s an old man now. Respect ✊
Gotta love this international treasure!❤
Just clicked in and wanted to compliment Mr. Fry on the cover photo. Very handsome.
Your spectacles caught my attention 🤗

I am so glad you mentioned the audio book. I'm going to have to get it as I can't imagine anything better than having Stephen read it to me.
Wow, that was awesome.
I love him. ❤️

In terms of really really beautiful people there aren't that many of us. :)
Well, shit.. that was engaging. His audiobooks would be perfect for long drives across Canada or anywhere else.
Greek mythology with a Cockney accent.
Priceless!
Missed the cockney accent but there is a lot of Somerset (farmer) in his stories
Yes I picked up a hint of Cockney in there as well.
Have you ever heard a Cockney?
Stephen - I do believe there is a bit of Wilde's flame in you, and that is as it should be...!
🎯
I Adobe him!!

"...curled between the [knurled] horns..."
Troy; The ultimate story of lust and power.
👏
Q: What is the quantity of beauty needed to launch one ship?
A: 1 milli-Helen.
A lovely tip of the hat to Vivian Stanshall and Sir Henry at the end "read on, dot dot dot"....... :)
The commercials too often and WAY too long.
"..........but I was...............VE'Y........................ve'y drunk at the time."
Folded a corner of a page instead of a book mark...
.............. MrFffffffffffffffry!
Mt Dad used to rattle on like this about his army days.
I hope you listened well.
Exactly what is the age difference between this guy and is partner?
That was much better than that dumb movie
The truth about the who/what/where/when/why of Troy: "The Trojan War of 650 BC," by Wilson and Blackett (Second Edition, Cymroglyphics). It's not what you've been told.
I'm building Lego.
Human blood smells of iron, haemoglobin that is.
Absolutely beautiful, I didn't want him to stop 🫶🏻
