i think its just ultimately better to not touch the gameplay at all, just fix the controls and maybe add a legacy mode with the old deco and no 2.2 camera effects
I feel as if uploading it separately would be the wisest. I doubt many are going to care to check an old level lying in the backburner, over a new one, that'd be a better thing for recognition (and such an awesome remake definitely deserves recognition in its own right) than updating. Plus, it has the benefit of keeping the original in-tact and on the servers too... Unless you're doing this whole remake thing for the sake of principle or something, if so then go nuts on it!

Outstanding polish and redesign of the original falling maze. However I wanted to point out a few nitpicks that may help with improving. At 0:35 and the end screen, I love how you redesigned the title but i feel like the glow circles scattered as sparkles appear too blurry and messy. Perhaps polish those sparkles of glow so it appears more sharper. Like real life stars with a bright twinkling dot and a subtle glow around it. Additionally, the break part at 0:37 where its just blackness could have more to the gameplay or a buildup to the drop as it is a bit empty. Finally, level 5 - altar feels a bit too organised and repetitive compared to the predecessor where it had all the fragmented pieces from other parts of the levels all fused into one beautiful chaos. This remake lacks that chaotic element from its original which I personally think enhanced falling maze (unless the falling rocks are part of the lore you designed). Otherwise, great revamp and I can’t wait to see the future projects you have in store! 🙂
The ending part lost quite a bit of its insane tension, but this is nonetheless an immense glowup, addition of new gimmicks and refinement of the old ones (plus controls and the frankly UNBEARABLE lag situation) were extremely welcome and the 6th level finally feels like... _a level_ now. I LOVE the aesthetics of the altar, I always did since its creation and first introduction in Floating Maze. The gigantic rock you fly through feels so satisfying as well! I feel as if the ending lost a bit of its weight over the original by being slower and the darkened section *1:20**,* while cool, doesn't fit with this insanely epic music that well. The part I don't enjoy is the ending *1:35**,* the way it just fades out in a cartoony circle WAY less climactic than the ending of the original Floating Maze where you actually _do_ escape the collapsing mayhem. Overall though, this is certainly a worthwhile improvement over the original, and even then I REALLY love the original, I think it's a visionary or at least extremely impressive work for the innate jank of 2.1. You've also done an excellent job expanding this crazy and mysterious universe so far, so kudos to you on that front.
I was trying to imagine if the level was longer: Level 7: Pistons room. This level has pistons that push you. They can sometimes help to avoid obstacles like a big wall, and sometimes they can kill by pushing you into spikes, and you can make some cool transitions with them like that transition in Xstep with the blue pads. Level 8: Combination. This level is a combination of all the previous levels.
honestly if you're also able to fix Falling Maze then this could be a cool level to release separately as a sequel!! but obviously the falling maze copy should be fixed to be possible somehow so if the only way to do that is to update the level with this then so be it
Its kinda sad how the original is broken, but this remake makes up for it, there are a nice little gimmick in each section, like in the laser room, you have to move in a certain way for certain lasers to go off. Which is cool!

Is this new version in platformer mode or classic mode? If this is platformer mode you very likely won't be able to update the original.

Smaller objects have a higher surface area to volume ratio and thus more drag, so they fall slower
so does this mean the canonical order of your minigames is floating maze, floating outskirts, and THEN falling maze?
