Everything on this list you see past 7c is WAY harder than farewell, although I do agree that maybe the moon berry room is around the same difficulty as some of the c sides’ final rooms
From what Im seeing Farewell isnt difficult for any particular room its just the first endurance test new players will come across. Where 7c, while short, has one very difficult screen with the first intro of actually precise movement. Probably the hardest thing mechanically in the base game if we just go on each individual jump rather than the 5 minute section in farewell. Plus it fits easier into a video like this
This is just insane! I struggled on the last C side level and gave up, the fact these guys still pushed through on the most crazy levels and actually took the time to complete them is literally god tier! Props to anyone who made such a crazy accomplishment.
3:00 Bee Berserk is probably the most funnest map I have played in the advanced section of SJ, the difficulty isn't too hard, and best of all is that the stamina is infinite 👍👍
i did it after the lab (red adv) to go for an "easier" map, ended up not being able to beat it, did starlight station (another red adv), no still no dice, went straight to chromatic complex (red exp) and i still cant do bee berserk
I show this video to my friends every time I explain celeste difficulty. "Why do you say you are intermediate when you have almost 100%" is a question that needs to be anwered. 100% is intermediate in this game.
Beginner for modded standards, i 100%'d every single level in vanilla celeste but I struggle with advanced, most of vanilla is beginner and intermediate
It's interesting to see how the progression goes from slow gameplay to levels of speed where it's hard to see your character, but then it slows down and relies more on precision.
I've completed all of the base game, and I got into modding a while ago. I personally think that Forsaken City C-Side should be placed in Mid or Easy Intermediate, but maybe I just had an easier time with it than others.
Just here to say my piece. 7c3 is much harder than modded players give it credit. The last section is very awkward, and you need to target certain parts of the springs (not to mention that one drop down part). Sure, all tech needs a 5 frame timing, but it's the same universally so extended tech is pretty free. I'd put 7c3 in yellow advanced, and that room of bee beserk in green. The last room of it is harder than 7c3 though
most of this is modded, the hardest vanilla ever gets is like red intermediate, this is slightly off. celeste is still a fantastic game and I highly reccomend it, it just has a very passionate modding community.
The main game doesn't go above intermediate, and 90% of it is beginner according to this ranking system. The main game has tons of content (plus incredible music/story), but there are also TONS of custom maps that are similarly easy and a blast to play. Also, as you play, you get better naturally, so there's that. Don't let the game's insanity potential scare you away! That's like watching a chess master playing 5 games at once blindfolded, then deciding that you can't learn checkers.
Dw, b sides are essentially way harder than c sides cuz c sides are just 3 rooms long. Individual difficulty c sides are harder, but you will get way more deaths on b sides
Good video but the beginner to green advanced doesnt make sense. Farewell at most is red intermediate and for most of the level is just yellow int. Everything else in the base game including b sides is green int at the highest. For example, 7C only requires to to be a bit precise and know how to do wall bounces, but then the next highest difficulty you put requires you to know how to wave dash, hyper, super, know bubble dash tech, hyper bunnyhops(if im right), wallbounces, and reverse tech. Didn't mean to type this much but yee.
The reason why that’s the case (why 7c3 requires so little tech compared to the next map) is because the other map is modded Modded maps utilize tech much more than vanilla, and also have different playstyles. 7c3 is an example of a non tech pure precision based screen, while most modded screens are based off of knowing how to use and perform tech while also being precise. It’s also commonly believed that farewell goes up to green advanced, with final and moonberry being the ones that make it go up to advanced. I think the list probably could’ve been improved if every single map in it was modded so the difference in play styles is more reasonable.
@@MagicianStevey i still dont agree with that, if you compare to the maps in sj for example green beginner is about the same difficulty as (maybe slightly harder than) 7a, and there are plenty of rooms in int that are harder than farewell. it maybe used to be considered advanced, but no longer. summit c side is also probably like red beginner-green int. not all modded maps are about using tech either, there are plenty even at high difficulties that use little to no tech (cmb and lava layer are great examples in gm)
I spent 3 hours on the last screen of Summit C-Side ALONE, seeing it at *Advanced* difficulty, and at the very START of Advanced difficulty, isn’t giving me much hope for my future endeavors into Modding CELESTE.
There are TONS of modded levels that are advanced or below. In fact most of my favorite maps are custom maps around that difficulty. DEFINITELY at least download Strawberry Jam--if you've beaten summit c side, the easiest strawberry jam maps will be super easy for you! It's a whole new experience, you won't regret it
Don't feel bad. I quit this game a year ago over 7C. Only now did it after a 5.5h attempt (divided into 2 days ago evening, night and yesterday noon). And about 8.5h if considering all prior failed attempts. I actually was so pessimistic because I couldn't reach even half of that final screen so I cheated and did 8C before under 2h surprisingly, this improved my skill but even then 5.5h... and also playing on Switch so no mods. I will be lucky if I ever beat level 9.
@@seanchernov7178 Level 9 has one or two rooms that are debatably around the difficulty level of 7c.....I personally would rate 7c a bit harder than them.....but either way Farewell doesn't get much harder than what you've done. The issue is that it's consistently quite hard once you get a third of the way in--it isn't 7c hard but it's a long level Easily worth it, Farewell is an incredible experience
As someone who has completed some levels in Advanced SJ, the hardest I think I could do (with my current skill) is red Expert or maybe yellow Grandmaster

@@favretheundeadI mean I definitely lean towards the SJ definition of intermediate and onwards (though not always the case) having to do with the tech used. I consider something like 6b and even 7b before it teaches you how to wallbounce to be red beginner, farewell getting into intermediate, etc. I’m hard pressed to say anything in unmodded Celeste goes past intermediate difficulty except maybe the dashless berry in 1a bc there’s just some ridiculous inputs you have to do to get that one.
@@Insert_Creativity_Here Some of the techniques required for 1A dashless golden berry are almost the same as those required for 1D.
@@Ran_kotonoha gonna use this to slightly jab at monika's idea of when they think you can play d-sides because I feel like they're losing their mind if they believe nearly half of them could be done by people who haven't even beaten the entirety of base game (for reference, I've done 1a/b-5a)

0:08 THAT'S HOW YOU DO THIS ROOM?
H-how- did you do it??
My guy was corner jumping on the first 20 minutes of gameplay like a true celeste player
@@jorgelenny47 that's exactly what I did, by accident 😭
surprised that farewell isn't on this list honestly
Everything on this list you see past 7c is WAY harder than farewell, although I do agree that maybe the moon berry room is around the same difficulty as some of the c sides’ final rooms
From what Im seeing Farewell isnt difficult for any particular room its just the first endurance test new players will come across. Where 7c, while short, has one very difficult screen with the first intro of actually precise movement. Probably the hardest thing mechanically in the base game if we just go on each individual jump rather than the 5 minute section in farewell. Plus it fits easier into a video like this
farewell averages around intermediate difficulty and peaks at low advanced
It used the same mechanics as deep blue (a red intermediate) but isn’t really as difficult, so it might squeeze into red intermediate.
in my opinion farewells final room as well as the moon berry room are both a lot more difficult than the final room of 7c@@-Logan_Word-7437
This is just insane! I struggled on the last C side level and gave up, the fact these guys still pushed through on the most crazy levels and actually took the time to complete them is literally god tier! Props to anyone who made such a crazy accomplishment.
I just finished the summit like 3 days ago. Watching this make me wanna cry.
3:00 Bee Berserk is probably the most funnest map I have played in the advanced section of SJ, the difficulty isn't too hard, and best of all is that the stamina is infinite 👍👍
100% agreed, its so fun
i did it after the lab (red adv) to go for an "easier" map, ended up not being able to beat it, did starlight station (another red adv), no still no dice, went straight to chromatic complex (red exp) and i still cant do bee berserk
@@crckrbrrs You can do Chromatic Complex but not Bee Berserk?
I didnt really like the final screen. Those purple bubble hypers felt so inconsistent
Khutara garden better imo
After advanced I couldn't even grasp what was happening most of the time
I show this video to my friends every time I explain celeste difficulty. "Why do you say you are intermediate when you have almost 100%" is a question that needs to be anwered. 100% is intermediate in this game.
Just finished superstructure last night. Scared to tackle the rest of SJ lol. Some of those levels look absolutely insane.
Have you beaten Tower XVI yet, probably the most struggling level in SJ Advanced.
tower XVI should be green expert, if the routing puzzle aspect wouldn’t be broken by the extra tech in expert
should have made it cracked advanced
if the first 3 are beginner then I’m never playing Celeste
Edit: I got Celeste
Edit 2: I’m on Farewell please help me
Beginner for modded standards, i 100%'d every single level in vanilla celeste but I struggle with advanced, most of vanilla is beginner and intermediate
the jump between expert and grandmaster seems quite insane, and i myself am at a low expert level, so yeah
idk i'll see once i get there
It's interesting to see how the progression goes from slow gameplay to levels of speed where it's hard to see your character, but then it slows down and relies more on precision.
making extremely hard speed maps generally means stupidly dense inputs that can be physically painful to input
so not yet, but we'll get there
@@erierierierierie oh man there definitely will be one of those soon…
@@egfloggygoggy ohhhh man

the progression here is so similar to dustforce and it’s such a shame it’s so slept on
I've completed all of the base game, and I got into modding a while ago. I personally think that Forsaken City C-Side should be placed in Mid or Easy Intermediate, but maybe I just had an easier time with it than others.
Can barely even comprehend what's happening on those SJ maps, props to dedicated Celeste players!
Barely green advanced not yellow
7:36 The Knight appears, testing itself on platforming challenges on its quest to find a voice to cry suffering
I have never played Celeste but after this, idk if I even want to try
most of this is modded, the hardest vanilla ever gets is like red intermediate, this is slightly off. celeste is still a fantastic game and I highly reccomend it, it just has a very passionate modding community.
@@flash93Agreed. Celeste main levels are literally almost never hard (maybe c sides are hard but not really)
Never noticed the spring on Beginner: Summit. I've just been raw dogging it with the momentum off the moving brick.
The core b-side is kicking my ass and now i'm scared of the c-side
I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THERE WAS A C-SIDE 😭😭😭

The reason why that’s the case (why 7c3 requires so little tech compared to the next map) is because the other map is modded
Modded maps utilize tech much more than vanilla, and also have different playstyles.
@@EinsteinsBarberfarewell definitely feels a little more like mid-high intermediate, especially during the middle CPs with stuff like comb room

You'll improve at the game its not as bad as it seems, plus you don't have to play the high difficulties
The issue is that it's consistently quite hard once you get a third of the way in--it isn't 7c hard but it's a long level
Easily worth it, Farewell is an incredible experience
See ya in a couple months when you're already taking down grandmaster maps (you can do this ^u^)

As someone who has completed some levels in Advanced SJ, the hardest I think I could do (with my current skill) is red Expert or maybe yellow Grandmaster
I am currently working through the C-sides with the intent of doing farewell after. This game is very difficult, but it is probably the best game out there that makes progression this natural. At no point have I reached a point that I don’t know how to beat, at least after a little work. It’s still hard, but it is one of few games that make the hard stuff approachable
