Las Vegas man exposes new scam in hopes of saving others from it

- Thieves are always thinking of new ways to steal money and now a Las Vegas man who almost became a victim of one is fighting back to expose scammers. "It makes me very angry and that's why I let this go as far as it did," Bruce Allan who only wanted us to use part of his name explained. He is calling out the people who he said tried to scam him.
I think it's time now to just assume everyone is a scammer. Every call. Every good "deal" or "offer." We must protect ourselves!
I have it where only my contacts ring my phone... It'd be ringing all day long with scammer calls. I ignore them and hang up if I happen to answer.

I used to remind my parents when I visited them before they passed away, everybody who contacts you, wants your money. That is mostly true for the elderly. The amount of contacts they received increased as they got older from people who wanted something from them
Include government to the scammers list.
I got a door knocker offering meat that he couldn't sell. He wanted a check$ or cash CAREFUL 😬
This is why o don't answer numbers I don't know. If it's important you'll leave a message and I'll call back.

You can even setup your phone where only your contacts ring your phone... so, no ringing all day either!! I love it. Look on youtube to find a tutorial how to do it, if you need help.

He was probably watching Batman before speaking with the gentleman.
They would have NOT given him a line of credit,they would have cleaned out his bank account,put a lien on his property with shady business practices,or did something illegal.
If someone contacts you in anyway, it's a scam. Just say no. If they persist, call the police. I'm stunned how far these scammers even get.
you shouldn't be stunned….people who are truly good at heart, simply can't imagine someone having unnatural evil intentions so they automatically trust people. its awful because it ruins the hearts of good people

This guy is savvy - he gets a second opinion.
But he wasn't savvy enough to keep some rando from not coming to his home. The next type of scams will be people coming to your home pretending to inspect your AC, but they are scoping out your security to see if they can come back to still some stuff.
@@Mercenary-1914 A few scammers have tried to get into my elderly mothers home by offering “free” house cleaning, “free” carpet cleaning, “free” air duct inspection and cleaning, a “free” energy conservation evaluation, etc… One guy tried just last week. She hasn’t let anyone in because I keep telling her to not let ANYONE in the house. She has been talking with them though. I’ve told her to not even do that.

When you click on messages,you open up what is called TROJAN HORSES that ends up getting into your banking and fast food apps such as McDonald’s and the scammers steal money from your bank accounts and credit or debit cards.

Never do business with an unsolicited caller. The reason we keep getting inundated with phone calls from telemarketers is because they find it profitable. Once business dries up, the telemarketing calls will stop.

Don't pick up your phone unless you know the number. Let them leave a message, then maybe ask a family member to review the message if it sounds sketchy.

Not necessarily correct. It can be legitimate calls too but I ignore all of them including legit calls. I only answer friends/family calls.

I never deal with cold-callers for anything. I know scammers are getting really creative, but if more people just refused to talk with cold-calling sales reps, there'd be a lot fewer victims.

I love getting calls and e-mails from scammers because it means I can begin a new wave of endless prank calls until the scammers curse at and threaten me, then I can call them some more until they disconnect their number.
I've found that keeping a whistle close at hand is an effective deterrent.

How to avoid most scams. Don't answer unknown phone numbers, if call is important they'll leave a message. Scammers usually don't leave a message to incriminate themselves.
Simple solution. Do not answer calls from people you do not know. If they leave a message, then check out who they are before you engage with them.

Yeah, like they are really going to stop. As long as phones, computers, texting, email, door to door solicitation and the postal service exist and it’s profitable, it’s not going to end anytime soon. Thanks to people like this man getting the message out is the best hope for making people aware of these scams.

AS FOR THE SCAMMERS…..don’t answer the phone and don’t answer the door for solicitors. If u answer the phone and they are trying to sell something…..hang up. If u wish to BUY something, do the research and call people yourself and ensure they are licensed and bonded for whatever work u seek help with.

I’m lucky to live in a building, no solicitation allowed. I don’t answer my phone if I don’t know the number. Leave a message if it’s important.
Here in N TX this happened to my sister from a reputable company called Milestone that advertises regularly on TV. Scumbags.
Especially those debts collectors. It's a scam too. If you owe money, they can garnish your wages.
My sister made a mistake and opened the door because she assumed it was the company we just called. It wasnt.
These 2 guys dressed in construction outfits refused to leave a business card and kept insisting they talk to her. I came over gave a stern face and they left.
She’s very lucky they didn’t try to barge right in, pushing her away. Just keep an eye out for her place as they could have been there to scope it out . This gentleman was lucky himself they didn’t harm him , knowing he’s in a wheelchair.

The mistake here was picking up the phone in the first place
Turn on your call block. Add your contacts to the exception list.
Disregard anyone else who calls.
The fact is that these scammers will NOT stop until they are caught and jailed as they stand to make tens of thousands of dollars just by successfully scamming 1 person. It’s easier, safer, and much more profitable for them than robbing a bank. Laws need to be revised to address these scams and make the penalties far worse than they currently are.
I'll show you a scam. PGE replaced all the original ceiling lights in my friend's 1942 house. Luckily she kept them, because a year later the new bulbs started burning out. PGE said they were no longer under warranty, because it had been over a year since installation. Not only were the fixtures awkward to access, being quite heavy glass, but replacements bulbs were difficult to find, and a local big box store said they didn't stock them because they were crap. I was able to restore and reinstall the original incandescent light fixtures except one, and now she has a box of extra LED bulbs for it.
These people are heartless and we need to all do something about it
What’s crazy is I will randomly get scam callers asking for my father, saying things like this to offering health insurance to saying he has a financial complaint lodged against him.
He’s been dead for 4 years.

This really seems similar to what a guy was going door to door was pushing on the NW side as well. I didn’t listen long enough for him to get to the end game but it was some crap about being sent out to solve people’s power problems and it didn’t involve solar. I believe it began with “There is a problem with your electricity” lol

We need to protect our elderly! My mom is 84 and she knows not to answer her phone unless it’s a voice she recognizes. If not I tell her if it’s important and they really want to reach you they will leave their name and number😉

When I receive an unknown call, I remain silent. If the call is genuine, they will ID themselves and ask for me. If it is a scam they will hang up.

Yes, 2 AC guys wanted 20k from by Dad in 10 minutes for one of his tenant's house and the tenant said it was turned off. I'm calling the CEO tomorrow. Also $3600 for pigeons from a pest control company. Please keep an eye on your parents as they are targets.

Why did my boy Allen let them even know where he live? Why even entertain any call from a number you don't have logged in your phone? We are living in different times. The days of answering the house phone and trying to figure out if it is a bill collector, or scam or loved one is OVER....If they are not logged in my phone, I DONT ANSWER IT. Voice mail can pick it up....and I am not calling that line back. I look up the actual vendor online and call the number from their validated website.

This lady actually ends with "never pay anyone in person at your property." Every single repairman or contractor I have ever used has been paid in person at my property. That's how they do business.

He could've called the police to arrest the scammer, at a timeframe to have the a/c guy come back for a follow-up appt. Then the police could link who's scamming, moving forward.

Shoot! I was JUST about to scam somebody with this scam but because of this program, the old guy didn’t fall for it.
It all started with a phone call. Explains it all.
Someone called me the other day from a "Private Number" telling me they were from T-Mobile and my account was severely past due... LMAO... I was like dude you called the wrong guy. 1. My bill is always paid before the statement comes out and 2. I'm a former T-Mobile employee and know this is not how they do things.

Been getting calls from fake Spectrum one from Wisconsin and yesterday New Jersey . Has the same automated operator menu . Spectrum uses a 1888 number and does not make house calls . It’s people from overseas

Call ID shows that it's from within my area code, yet they never leave a message, odds are they're more likely calling from far away country rather than a nearby county.
