that battle has a crazy energy and does an excellent job demonstrating the importance of being able to control the "energy" of the room / stage / crowd / opponent / yourself / those watching later on youtube/ ect...
not that brizz's bars in that battle weren't MILES ahead of wavys,,,, because they were lol. i'm saying it doesn't matter what wavy spit, he was gonna lose... brizz just has the ability to have his performance transcend rap in a way i haven't seen anyone else come close to. maybe twork at his (rare) best.
ps, if you're a fan of illmac watch his battle vs real deal, one of the most underrated displays of penmanship in the entire sport. wack event tho so the performance suffers.

The only bad thing about this battle is that Thesaurus had 3 fire ass rounds and still got smoked. Those 3 rounds against just about anybody else woulda been a bag, but Fresco said nah...
Thesaurus really is in the perfect position in battle rap. No one questions that he's one of the GOATs so he doesnt have to sweat a win or a loss, but he still comes with fire shit, helps put on up and comers, and gives credit where it's due. You the man, Pete.

Fresco has so many quotables that I am still surprised by how dope he is every time I watch this.
I often think about how much research some of these dudes must do to find the references they have. Crazy.
Well what's dope about Fresco is he does a lot of 90's references (or anywhere from late 80's to early 2000s), so really they are just referenced of things he saw or had as a kid. Starfox 64, Saved by the bell, Yosemite Sam, Megaman, Pulp Fiction, Mortal Kombat, Minecraft, League of Legends, Donkey Kong, chicken pot-pie, Asian guy in Tiananmen Square,

This is awesome. I graduated high school with Peter (Thesaurus). I was in a band with him back in middle school. And in high school I remember him walking around the school rappin' to himself. Always great at whatever he put his mind to. Probably the smartest kid in our class.

BTW I agree the Soul Khan vs Fresco battle was garbage. Almost all those old Grindtime battles weren't that good. It just goes to show how far battle rap has evolved.

Fresco actually explained in a interview that when he was practicing his rounds for people the day before the battle he was getting no reaction so he said he went extra hard with the delivery to make up for what he thought were mediocre bars.

This will always be my favourite KotD battle. There have been *better* battles, but this summed up everything that the scene does well. Every round was very good/great. I struggle to make it through entire videos but this goes by in a breeze. Both had mad respect for each other, with no need to go crazy personal. Both came with extremely well written material and delivered it perfectly. Being a battle rap fan around this period was one of the highlights of my 20's, it was such a unique movement and community to be a part of. The crowd, lighting, editing were all on point. Definitely my fav KotD vid.
I love how Fresco never takes a line off...every one was straight fire. "Morris (Thesaurus, Peter Morris) will get a flash back, like hes sittin in class and dreaming, while I'm at his Bae's side high (Bayside High) like Tiffany Amber Theisan. Some of his lines literally had me freaking out. Fresco was at another level in this battle...
