Ian Gillman :The best Stones record ever, I bought it in '65. Brian Jones was an incredible multi Instrumentalist and the real musician . A tragedy his band mates did not protect him more.
Charlie will be missed. Him and Brian are so smooth on this track. They’re all at their best here. Love it. Thanks Willie Dixon for the time and Howlin Wolf and Muddy Waters for the influence.
It's 2:17am Sydney,Australia time. Just had to revisit this gem. It's a deep need😌😌😌😌😌 Can't let it go. Ain't no peace in the farmyard since my little red rooster been gone. Great lyric or what!!!
Brian was in the band first but he was pushed out as front man by Mick and also Keith. He got depressed, took way too many drugs and that was it. They told him he was out. Maybe he drowned or maybe somebody helped him drown. Tragic either way. A natural talent for music was he.
When Andrew Loog Oldham became their manager, he changed the whole dynamic of the Stones. His part in undermining Brian Jones can not be ignored. He wanted the band to write and perform original music, not just blues covers.
I love ❤️ 🎉this song ❤️ 🎵 💕, they always put out a vast variety of amazing 🎵 🎶. It brings back memories and good times 🎉🎉. A glimpse into the success of the best rock band in the world 🌎
This, of course, is an old blues standard, and they make a very good job of it. The track is greatly enhanced by Brian Jones' slide guitar and it reflects the group's development.
A very good job !? Go on let yourself go Its totally superb for a young white band to doing the blues They were told don't record this ut will kill you It went to number 1 Brian's playing accompanied by charlies simple but steady beat make it Very good no its truly amazing
OK, early sixties.. the Beatles, ..so, so great. Did love them but then heard this song with the Rolling Stones on the Red Skelton tv Show. OH MY!! I was seriously hooked. Had one Beatles album (White Album), but had eight Stones albums. Sorry Beatles, love you but when I'm chillin', Stones all the way.
Fantastic song they weren’t keen on it and didn’t think it would be a hit I read, but it shot to number 1 in the hit parade within a week of its release back in 1964.I never tire of hearing it absolute Stones magic
It IS a blues song written - by Willie Dixon, (tho' the 'rooster' theme goes back a long way), and first recorded by Stones' favourite, Howlin' Wolf. BTW - I agree it's a brilliant track!
Satisfaction , Beast Of Burden and This Little Red Rooster are by far my favorite songs by the Stones-this is one of the early ones when they were really raw. This album and Out of Our Heads were their best. Still are. IMO
From this to all the utter shite after 74 its sad the stones before this date were superb after pathetic never recorded anything worthwhile after 74 Emotional rescue Steel wheels etc truly pathetic But this is right on the money prolific singles band 60s into early 70s but sorry it should have stopped there ✌️❤️🕊
One of their best and most authentic Chicago blues covers...this is where they proved their blues pedigree and Mick doesn't seem to be imitating or signing w/affectation, just singing the blues in his own inimitable way!
Man, must be at least 35 years since I listened to this pearl of a cover. Like Nevets Arzaz said in a reply to a posted comment further down, da boys certainly did it justice. I first heard this circa 1966 when I was a wee lad of 8. This started my journey of blues that continues to this day. I didn't know it was a Howlin' Wolf original at the time. And the rest as they say is history. I don't plan to end my journey anytime soon👌👌👌👌👌👌👌 I've heard a few covers but I might give it to the Stones, only by a nose though, over Luther Allison and Otis Rush for example.
Willie Dixon arranged and wrote. First popular recording was of course the inimitable Howlin' Wolf in 1961. What made Keith a genius was his knack for hooks like Brown Sugar and Jumpin Jack Flash.
Thanks for your reply. As I say it was a mixture of things. a combination coming together at a specific time in history. Do you notice when the brass is added on how it ramps it up again? It is said of Brian Jones that he could pick up nearly any instrument, muck about with it for ten minutes then be able to knock out a tune.
Of all white man who did Blues music Rolling Stones did the very best Blues music IMO. I k ow many did blues like Stevie Ray and he was great but No other white man band really compares to The Rolling Stones Blues.
heard the mistake @1:40? rewind it a bit further if you need to. Brian I believe might've messed it up. Either that or Mick went to sing the line a bit too early bc you can just hear Brian on that slide try to catch up.

I don't think that's a mistake. Listen to Chicago blues there's lots of instances where the changes are late and not where expected for whatever reason . I think they we're trying to recreate that feel
Brian Jones on slide guitar makes this song absolutely tops in R&B
First time had ever heard slide guitar ,and at 11 yrs. old -it put it's hooks in me , for life.
You know it!!
That's a Dobro or Miss National.
Best member of the Rolling Stones by far..
Open G tuning
Thats the real stones
Ian Gillman :The best Stones record ever, I bought it in '65. Brian Jones was an incredible multi Instrumentalist and the real musician . A tragedy his band mates did not protect him more.
You can't protect someone when they refuse to be helped. Drugs and alcohol take over your soul.
A bunch of scum bags. Proof that the good guys basically ALWAYS LOSE
Brilliant blues raw stones keep rolling on
I love the blues. This Stones track is brilliant!❤
RIP Brian Jones and Charlie Watts. Keep rocking the blues in heaven!

Brian Jones and Charlie Watts at their brilliant best.
Indeed. Brian absolutely smashed it on the slide guitar and Charlie nailed it with his impeccable timing and precision.

CHARLIE WATTS + BRIAN on slide= *EPIC!*
Charlie's timing was absolutely impeccable- one of the all time great drummers.

This is great to hear. Most people your age don't appreciate the Stones. The Stones will always be #1

The first blues record I ever bought.

Yes, indeed he was a great musician and talent.
Wonderful musician but couldnt write songs
Fragile creature ,shame on particular Mick and Keef for their manipulation of this childman 😢
When Andrew Loog Oldham became their manager, he changed the whole dynamic of the Stones. His part in undermining Brian Jones can not be ignored. He wanted the band to write and perform original music, not just blues covers.

My "ROLLING STONES, NOW" is in Mono. Man! What a difference in Stereo! This is like night and day, the Quality!
This is the one pre "Aftermath" London album that actually contains some true stereo on it. It's actually in partial stereo.

I don't wanna be a shmuck here...though Howlin Wolf spent his adult years in Chicago he happens to be an icon of Delta Blues.
The first time I heard this song was on this album. Along with 'Down the Road a Piece'. Oh those great 60s'.

The Stones can do the Blues better than anyone.... Fact!
No. Google "Luther Allison Little Red Rooster" and see what true excellence is.
Howlin Wolf disagrees
….however, Stones still do this justice. Hats off to real music 😎
The mud for me me but the stones lisened to Jimmy Reed everyday well Brianand Keith dad
*just as good , but they lost their signature bluesy edge when they lost Brian Jones . He was the blues
Jagger one hell of a harp player. Wish he would do more.
