Why don’t you need an I joist at the edge? All I see in the video is the rim board at the edge on the sill. I figured you would need an I joist plus the rim both sitting on the sill plate. Thanks
I can't believe it any where I ask a simple question I get everything but the asnwer to my question so mad how do you start a i-joist layout that has a flange 2 1/2 inches so when I start marking my lines for I- joist layout what would be my first measurement and then after what's my measurements from start to finish
+Justin Hearn Hi Justin - When drawing a floor framing layout, the first joist line should be placed X inches (the O.C. spacing) from the center of the initial adjacent, parallel support and copied for every X inches until the final floor joist line should be less than or equal to X inches from the center of the other adjacent, parallel support. So in your case, the first joist line should be placed 16 inches from the center of the initial adjacent, parallel support and then copied every 16 inches until there is less than or equal to 16 inches from the final floor joist line and the other adjacent, parallel support. Should you wish to show the width of the joist flange, you must make sure that the edges of the outline of each 2-1/2” wide flange are centered at the 16” locations is drawn from the commentary above. Hope this helps you out. When using an I Joist as a rim board, do you fill the web portion with any material to make it look flat?
I'm using these over a 24foot span and can't figure out the size beam I need in the middle.
I know this stuff is used everywhere but dang it looks weak.
On 16 inch centers
