Putting this here so you might actually see it. With the pinch harmonics the "sweet spot" can really vary. Not only does it vary guitar to guitar, but also which string and even which note you play. For example, if you're playing a harmonic on the a string on fret 5, the position on the string where it'll ring out well might be a few millimeters different from playing on the 7th fret on the same string. So explore up and down the string what sound you get picking that harmonic. Also, if you hang on a note like F# on low E, and pick the harmonic at different points, it'll ring different and give you lots of options for how you might want to play it in any given riff. Stillborn by Black label society is a great example of this. The main riff of the song is just him fretting 1 note and picking the harmonic in a few different places up and down. Gives the illusion of movement when really his left hand is pretty much just hanging on one fret all day.

Scale length also affects one's ability to do pinch harmonics. If you're used to finding pinch harmonics on a 24.75" scale, 25.5 is going to feel a little weird. And you can replace those examples with any scale length.

It's the same idea as the fret placement on a larger scale being different than the placement on a shorter scale. Guitar players eventually reach a point in their skill, where they don't have to think about finding the pinch harmonics when swapping between guitars with different scale lengths.

I had a guy in Wilmington NC build me a strat (I know, this is a metal show) out of heart pine that came from roof trusses from the first mansion built in Wilmington. From 1738. It is the heaviest fucking guitar, in weight, you will ever play. I haven't weighed it, but compared to my Les Paul, it is much heavier. If you threw this guitar off a 10-story building, it would sink into the concrete below. Guitar would be fine. The guitar is fucking awesome, I love it. And it cost me less than than a Fender American perform series, their cheapest American made guitars. Full disclosure, the neck did come from Warmoth. I have a couple of guitars from local luthiers around where i live. They are all my go to guitars. My Les Paul sits on the rack most of the time.

A little tip I learned for pool cues that's great if your guitar headstock gets dinged in shipping: Take a tea kettle and once it's boiling and steam is shooting out, hold the indentation in the path of the steam concentrating on that particular spot. Keep wiping off the condesnsation and be patient. The wood will swell back into place. It won't be perfect, but you can get the dent 90-95% of the way out.

Not crazy about the shape, but use of reclaimed/repurposed materials lead to some of the most unique and wonderful creations. I personally don't like this particular guitar, but THIS is more vintage than whatever crap most companies push today with overpriced replicas and relics. A guitar made out of a century old building in the middle of eastern Europe? That's fucking metal AND actually vintage. I hope more custom makers jump on this crafting concept, its great.

Vs are amazing. Not just the easier neck access, but they actually force you to play in a classical "guitar is on the left leg, neck slightly upwards" way .

I believe they set you a one off prototype. On your V request. The magic of a router used on the outer edge parameter and using a dark stain on the routed edge would of given it a more finished appearance. As it is, it looks like a high school woodshop project. It does sound good.

🤘for your playing at around 08:30 Glenn! Very cool guitar - always great to see reclaimed wood being used like this. If I was being super picky then I think I'd want fretboard markers too for 1200 notes.

Nice Axe - love the antique wood idea. Also like the Peak lights on your board when you play - you realy can't have metal without a little clipping now and then. 🤘

Hello, Glenn. Even though I haven't been playing electric guitar for some time, I also adore flying v-style guitars. Would be interested to know if something like the Jackson RR24X would be reviewed in the future?

Well, I finally saw it. I knew I would. You’re starting to have fun learning that edge of breakup and twangy shit. The more you play, the more you’ll find you LOVE playing things you’d just never sit and listen to. (I love playing songs from Journey. I was never a fan until I had to learn their songs). And, in my (probably expert by now) opinion, it’s making you a better guitar player. Forced you to learn techniques that your favorite metal players learned to develop their amazing skills. Later, when you started your shred runs, I heard major improvements in your hammer-ons and pull offs. Also in your accuracy and note clarity.
Speaking of, what a fantastic guitar in this video. I’ve got like 25-30 guitars. Need to thin the herd. But once I have some space, I may very well get one of these. Beautiful aesthetics, great sound, and looks playable as hell. Thanx Glenn!

I've always liked the look of wood. Brands do so much to cover it up. This is kind of refreshing as you see it flaws and all. I guess it's like a Gibson but more honest and obvious while probably staying in tune better.

NICE! I always love buying off brand stuff and I love pointy guitars. I really like that they use reclaimed wood. It sounds great kind of takes a little wind out of the tone wood lovers. I just got my hands on the new Leo Jaymz Swiftor. IMO you'll like it probably love it. It's my 2nd Leo Jaymz my first one is a Monsoon in Violet burl. I plugged it in as soon as I took it out of the box and the quality is just amazing the playability right up there with guitars ten time the cost the guitar is so well built when I saw their offering the Swiftor I ordered it and at $229.00 and the $20.00 off coupon free shipping it's coming in well above it's weight class.

As an American I agree with Glenn on the intro points. I grew up in an household of blind patriotism so I've learned to see past the bullshit the others like to play with. Also, as someone that lived for years down the road from the place where Gibson teaches guitar building I feel somewhat knowledgeable on the twang thing. The tones you're getting is mainly from your baller speaker setup. Can't get over the new V30 + the neve IR mixed with some room on. I use the Rabea plugin to noodle with and those speakers make the experience way more enjoyable!

CZ has a tradition of string instrument building that goes back hundreds of years. And yes, in that country there has to be a lot of reclaimable centuries old wood. Great idea for electrics.

Wood changes as it matures. It becomes much more dense. This will inevitably affect the tone of the guitar. Some people disagree but that's my opinion. Any other guitar you will buy off the shelf will be built from adolescent wood. Lumber as well. Trees are constantly being harvested and replanted to supply the demand.

    • @Riverking1
      @Riverking1 12 днів тому

Nah the tone won't change from new to old wood. Wood isn't a good conductor of electricity 😂

Hey Glenn! Pinch harmonics are always going to exist at exact points along the string length, just like natural harmonics. Different scale lengths will move them around a little, and even different arm contours on the guitar can move where your picking hand hangs out on the guitar, so watch for that too. Also just wanted to say thanks for showing us some clean tones. It's good to know whether a guitar can be useful in other areas. The philosophy of having one guitar that only does one thing really well might be getting a little dated as prices increase across the board and space becoming a premium with cost of rent. Obviously, this is a metal production channel and we do want to know if it works for metal, but it's also nice to know that I could potentially take a certain axe to play in a wedding band if I had to and actually make a little money.

Basically every guitar that sounds good driven will work, add an EQ first in the chain to shape and lessen or boost the input and/or modify the circuit to add options.
