This collection has got to be one of the best OST for a game. The intro just puts you in the mood. After finishing the game I continually listen to the whole album while working out.
Man Bastion's fall track is so depressing, fits so well with the theme of that place and what happened there, it made the horsemen question why do even they do what they do, and if it was all worth it in the end, so melancholic, love it.

Easily one of the most underrated series when it comes to soundtracks. Darksiders 2 soundtrack blew my mind, but this one is on a whole different level!
Probably the artstyle. I always loved it, but it turned my brother and many others I know off for some reason, even though especially in Darksiders 2 the artwork was extremely expensive and refined. People think they're low budget, but the second game was $55M to make. That's fat triple A cost, and sadly it didn't return enough on that investment to keep THQ from going bankrupt.
@@thaneros I agree, it's timeless, masterful, but I also know for a fact many don't like it. Don't ask me why. Too many people care too much about lifelike graphics.
The portion of it that is the Main Title theme sounds so horrowing when Lucifer possesses the child and both War and Strife have to commit genocide on the people Lucifer drove mad.
@@FatalFist that was a direct reference to the bible when the 4 horseman send the 4 plagues into Egypt to cull the sinners. wich I thought was pretty cool :)
That's some next level music from start to finish. Astarte's theme gets close in my list to the one from the battle between Death and (imposter) War in Darksiders 2.
I surprisingly enjoyed Belial's boss theme, it was like the composer found the perfect use for electronic dubstep by associating it with a demon of toxic filth.
Haha, thankyou. This track was actually my pitch for the game! It's pretty out there for my style, but the electronics and searing cello at the end of the track ended up working pretty well. Joe Madureira insisted it should be in the game.
Despite this game having two horsemen to play, this game felt more tailored towards strife's gameplay and his story, which isn't that bad. We already had a game staring War
Just finished the game a couple of days back - I main War - using Strife as a back-up. I agree, a nicely upgraded Strife has an easier time with crowd control and bosses, but War's gameplay is damn good too ... you need to tailor your cores to allow him to dish out damage despite taking hits - combined with his block-counter and vampiric rune, which means the more aggressive you play, the more damage you do, and the more lost HP you recover - it's quite addictive. Story wise - yeah this is Strife's game. :D
One of my favourite games of all time is Darksiders 2. This franchise is one of my favourite of all time, and Darksiders Genesis has hands down the best soundtrack in the series. That violin they use for the Darksiders Genesis Theme is just so sick.
"Dethroned" , makes me think of "Samael" somehow. We've interacted with him ,accepted his knowledge since DS 1... i have felt sorry for the invasion of his Keep at that chapter lol. i cant decide if he's good or not. One of a strange fallen angel , mistakenly become demon. Best game music i have heard after Grim Dawn. Sure, better
Historically, I believe that Samael (I believe he was in Dante's Divine Comedy) was once one of the greatest angels along with Lucifer. But was cast from heaven and became the Lord of one of the circles of hell. Devils always keep you guessing on whether they're on your side or not. That's what makes them so twisted, their forked tongues.
If you haven't already picked it up, I highly recommend it. Where the first two were like 3D Zelda, this one plays much more like the isometric Zelda games with the usual Darksiders feel to the combat.
DUDE!!!! thank you so much for posting this absolute gem! I had played the game coop, never realising the soundtrack was THIS good, until now. This is going in the archives
Funny how I never managed to play more than 20 minutes of each of these games because they bore me to death, but the soundtracks to DS2 and DSG are some of the best things I have ever listened to
I have to agree. darksiders has always remained pretty consistent with its music. darksiders 1-2 -genesis stand out for me. I love the adventure sense when you play them with the airy feel to them. very good for puzzle solving and riding too. war being the most brutish and honorable of the 4. his love is with the Balance. Death the deadly and calculating. his love is with his brother war who he would defend above all else. I think this love stems from an earlier experience when he led him to his death by making him a decoy, I think he feels guilt at what he did to war and also having to cut off his arm when war challenged them in his rage. also war being the youngest. Fury the unpredictable and quickest to anger. her love is with her horse rampage.. She also develops a bond with strife at the end of 3 seeing him as a true horseman and mentoring her threw her adventure. Strife the trigger happy cunning horseman. his love is with the humans. now strife is probably the most interesting to me. you see clearly he has a lot of human characteristics for instance his western looking style his obviously very human humor wich goes over wars head a bit :D but its clear strife has spent the most time with humans wich was shown in ds 3. strife probably knows the most of whats going on with the betrayal by the end of even wars game... I say this because strife leaves his gun for death and probably tells the makers to craft mercy for death there is an obvious presence of strife aiding his brothers in the first 2 games and helps fury in her game keeping her on track staying behind to fight off the demons and letting fury and the humans flee threw the portal :) very cool loved watching this game develop over the past 15 or so years.so of the best art and execution I have seen in a game.
If anything the music is the only part of the series that has been inconstant. The first game when with a more GoW type of music then switched gears with 2 which was more melody focused. Next 3 relied too heavy on ambiance over music. Then finally Genesis tries to combined the styles of 1 & 2 with a little more oomph.
Mammon ,Astarte, Dagon,Moloch track is quite something the fight is fun the music is really kick-in. I was surprise they got Keith David for Moloch ,cool character too bad it is only just too little line for such great voice.
