  • In this episode we install the Pro Touring F Body solid ody bushings and subframe connectors on he 74 Trans Am. Along the way, I learn some valuable lessons, and find a potential cause of the body sag on the driver front. However, the rewards of stiffening the chassis outweighs all the obstacles and issues I encountered along the way. Stiffening the chassis should be the first mod in any 2nd Gen F body.

Thanks. The wheels are US Mags Rebels (I think I mistakenly said US Wheels in another post), 18”x8” f, 18”x9.5” r. Tires are Nitto 555G2 255/45 fronts, 295/40 rears. No rubbing anywhere, and I didn’t even have to bash in the rear seatbelt humps.

The body bushings were a breeze except for the middle ones which were tack welded in place since the mounting bracket had some rust. The connectors were a different story. If you are installing them on a running vehicle, everything is in the way of the rear portion. But once you have everything out of the way, including the mufflers ( if you have aftermarket exhaust), then it is a piece of cake. Also, you need to get titanium or other serious drill bits to drill the frame if you are going the bolt-on route. The regular drill bits will snap easily.

@@littlemissgracing6515 how did you go about replacing the middle ones and what do you mean tac welded. Like the bolt was taked?

I couldn’t replace those unfortunately, since I couldn’t get my grinder to fit in there. The guy who installed those tack welded the metal key part of the bushing into the mount of the frame, so the only way to remove them is either grinding or torch? The bolts still come out, just the bushings are welded in there.@@yourmom705

The welds are too sucky to be factory, even by 70s GM standards 🤪@@yourmom705
