Thanks. I’ve owned this car for 34 years, and for the first 30 years or so I was like you, apprehensive about touching it, for fear of screwing up and messing with the originality. Towards the end, the joy of driving it was fading, so I decided it was time to address all the issues, and the only person to do it was me. I adopted the “what’s the worst that can happen” philosophy, and never looked back
@@littlemissgracing6515 you make an excellent point. I’m in a similar situation. My parents bought the my 71 when it was new. It’s a time machine for me….but like you said, at worst, I run into a problem and it gets stuck on blocks in my garage until I either figure it out or get help.
Keep working on your dream machine. I remember doing this on my 77. The front nuts are held in with a small clip that rusts out or breaks and spins. My father was a mechanic his whole life. A thing he told was, if ever possible, use the box end, not the open end. Good luck!
@@littlemissgracing6515 Poor design. GM knew that it was happening but didn’t change. We used a 1 inch hole saw and exposed the nut. Welded the plug back in when done.
@@lesliesmith2586 Yes, I agree. In my bucket list is a serious chassis and body stiffening project to address a lot of these issues. Hopefully I can make it happen.
My initial order was in spring of 22. Dave said he had the front suspension parts, but was waiting for the rears and chassis parts to come in. I am a patient guy, so I didn’t mind waiting. I got the rest of the parts in spring of 23. In my humble opinion, Dave has to deal with the ultimate built in excuse of “supply chain issues due of Covid” that everyone is dealing with. I had good luck calling him. I rather deal with small business owners than big businesses. Thanks.
US Mags Rambler 18”x8” front with 255/45 tires, and 18”x9.5” rear with 295/40 tires. *I think * Firebirds have a slightly bigger wheel well than Camaros, so make sure they fit before buying the setup

Thanks. It's amazing that those clips survived this long given they spent the first 16 years of their life as a year round daily in New England.

How long did it take to get your parts from ptfb? I've been waiting for a year and nothing yet.

@littlemissgracing6515 already have the rear gt pro setup. Waiting on the front control arms and sway bars.
@@MrChevyLover1I didn’t need those parts as the T/A comes standard with 1.25” front sway bar, and I had the control arms.
