I wonder if we often stop to appreciate the positive benefits of technology such as this ability to enjoy performances like this in our own homes at will. This is utterly transcendent and mesmerizing. Thank you for posting it. Barbara is the finest soprano ever to tread the boards.
Brent Edwards true... i saw Barbara Cook several times live but here she reaches a level of mature perfection while her soprano voice was still mostly intact and her technique matchless....no words to describe really...stunning
the voice of an angel! and now this wonderful lady is teaching the angels how to TRULY sing beautifully! Thank you John for posting this, it's beyond a gem!
Miss Barbara Cook could speak the lyric and let it blossom into song. She is a descendant of Judy Garland who commands our emotions in ways we cannot explain. No one alive today has quite achieved such mastery.
Streisand is exceptional and unique but not in the same class. I've seen both Barbara and Barbra and there is no comparison. Barbara Cook was the best in the world at what she did. She lived each song, La Streisand just sings.
@@dougr.2398 OMG. OMG. Thank you. Listen - I'm a violinist. Every word applies. Incredible. PS Truth is - what she says is of value to me as a human being, forget about as a musician. Just saying...
lucky you. I saw Miss Cook on broadway in the mid 60s in SHE LOVES ME. I also saw her in London concert and at The Met in NY. I saw her backstage after an opers while she was visit Plasido Domingo and I have a picture with her.
She was 62 years young at this concert, and performed for more than 20 more years.

I couldn't agree more. I saw both of them many many times in concert. Two legends lost.
No one today?.....ever heard the name striesand?
Think striesand

I was there at Symphony Hall for this taping and spoke with her briefly afterwards.

The final song with Mandy was incredibly touching.
🎉🎉❤❤
Thanks a lot for this one!
Una cantante dalla tecnica ammirevole!
I love the way she sings “Wait Till You See Him.” The only other one I like as well is Tony Bennett’s version.
