Recording this podcast was great therapy!
I feel soooo much better, phew!
Me: Sorry guys, no time to watch no time to die.
Also Me: I’m going to watch a multi part podcast analyzing no time to die
Hahah! Nice.
No Time To Die is actually available to rent from home now if that helps.
@@RetroCarsForever hahahaha, that’s a euphemism for “I don’t want to watch it because everyone says it’s bad”
@@SaleProofCarReviews Your mileage may vary...SOME people seem to absolutely love this movie!
@@SaleProofCarReviews LOL! Have you seen the other Craig 007 films? If so, might as well finish his run and see NTTD. Otherwise… eh. Haha!
Yes! I enjoyed y’alls previous Bond ranking discussion & I’m excited to hear this new ranking discussion! Thank you! 🙏
Thanks Bruce! Enjoy this new episode, and let us know your thoughts!
Glad you enjoyed the previous recordings, Bruce! And thanks for checking out this new one. Where do you rank No Time To Die?
@@Athena007 Hey Brad and Athena! I sincerely and wholeheartedly apologize.
I was rewatching y’all’s Bond discussion videos again and didn’t see your reply comments till now. I somehow lost access to my previous UA-cam account. 🤦🏻♂️
I really enjoy y'all's Bond friend group discussion over the Bond films. I love how you all have different opinions and some of the same perspectives on the many Bond films.
I have listed below my current Bond film ranking. I think over time, No Time to Die will get lower on my overall ranking, but for now, I have it at 15. I agree with you, Brad and Athena, that No Time to Die isn’t the best Bond film. I admire the filmmakers for doing something different, but I really didn’t care for the story execution of the film or for Bond’s death. No Time to Die has too many plot contrivances. 😬
I’m so sorry again for not seeing your replies earlier. I’m grateful for y'all's Bond video discussion, and I'm a huge fan of you two. Thank you. 🙏😊

I know right??
Oooo, that would have been an exceptionally great villain death mentioned by Bob at 25:40 !
Think how much BETTER No Time To Die would've been if the great Bob Mitsch was the final screenwriter instead of Phoebe Waller Bridge!
He probably would've been cheaper too...
You guys should do more Bond podcasts. The original ranking video is one the best Bond-related things on UA-cam. My only complaint was that it was difficult to keep track of who was talking (which you’ve thankfully fixed with this video).
Thanks so much! Maybe, like James Bond, we will return...
I remember John and Athena from posting on the CBn forums in the late 00s (under the name Safari Suit). Nice to see them again.
That's where I met them as well! I'll tell them that.
Thank you. Very good discussion by the way. I guess I liked this movie a little more than you guys, but it's not one of my favourites by any means, and I didn't hear many points I disagreed with. I loved Skyfall, but on the whole I'm chiefly a fan of the original 1962-89 run of films, most since have missed the mark a little for me.
@@IgorsDen Totally fair!
If you're curious, we go more in depth on our thoughts on the "classic" films in Ultimate Bondcast 1/2...This Part 3 was like an "update" with No Time To Die.

Will check them out, thanks again
Yessssss I’ve been waiting for this!!!
Hope it was worth the wait! Definitely was fun to record (and the results were shocking...positively shocking!)
These guys: "Ahh, this movie is too deep! I just want to turn my brain off and enjoy a film!"
Also these guys: "Why is there a portrait of Robert Brown hanging in the MI6 corridors??? That's a continuity mistake!"
Hahaha! Good point. I guess we are just Bond geeks, we can never truly turn our brains off to continuity stuff like that!
Haha. Too true.
A great time. Thanks Brad.
Thank YOU! You brought up so many great points that were in our subconscious that you brought to the surface. Better than therapy!!
Very very enjoyable !! You are all on my wavelength regarding the current movie which is a contrast to the other popular podcasters . Spy has always been my favourite !!!
I can't believe all the positive press this movie seems to be getting! So glad we can be the counterpoint LOL
I had forgotten that I’d listened to this . With a couple of exceptions namely The Man With The Golden Gun which I’ve always loved , I’m def on the same wavelength .. No time to die did well not to finish last . A great listen !!
Happy to see this return after the last two ultiyreviews
Awesome, thanks for listening!
you guys read my mind lots of good points that's how I felt!
Glad to hear! Thanks for listening.
Awesome to see you guys back! I loved your last ranking and I watched it over and over. Your show is a great example of the Bond fandom, everyone has thier favourites but its all so good natured and fun.
Also thank goodness I'm not alone regarding my huge disappointment with NTTD, which to me is a horrible example the actor being more important than James Bond. I find it such a depressing, melodramatic mess and worst, I actually felt betrayed as a fan.
Keep making Bond ranking vids guys!
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed our new podcast, if not the new movie!
I think everyone has been a bit harsh on NTTD. I genuinely thought it could have been one of the best bond films of the series if it wasn't for the ending. So entertaining throughout though. I am still unsure of the ending and am certain Skyfall and Casino Royale are superior but this is by no means a bad bond film in my opinion.
Fair enough! NTTD seems to be THE most divisive movie of the series. People either seem to love it or hate it. It's a daring movie in any case. Thanks for stopping by!
Using a 5 point scale for 17 Bondian elements (villain, action, look etc) I added them up and the ranking seemed reasonable to me:
1) The Spy Who Loved Me 68
2) Goldeneye 68
3) Goldfinger 67
4) Tomorrow Never Dies 66
5) On Her Majesty’s Secret Service 64
6) Moonraker 64

21. A View to a Kill (Average Ranking: 22)
22. LALD (13)
23. Spectre (24)
24. No Time to Die (25)
25. Die Another Day (23)
26. Quantum of Solace (26)
At least for the lowest six, my personal ranking closely follows the "average" of this panel (with one exception).
As for the fifth cinematic Bond film (released 8 or 9 weeks before You Only Live Twice) I would rank it in the middle third, more precisely between #15 and #20. While it arguably has a threadbare plot, it does have first-rate music (I own its OST, though not the film itself in any form), good cast (several of whom have previously appeared in an EON Bond film), and solid visual presentation, quite reflective of that particular (psychedelic) era.
Had Sean Connery been afforded the opportunity to star first in OHMSS and then YOLT (with story from novel, not the one conjured up by Roald Dahl) he might have had a fantastic exit, even if not an upbeat one. And Roger Moore assuredly would have had a far more wonderful exit had Moonraker been his farewell entry.
Interesting thoughts, I can dig it!
Why didn’t you have a contrasting view in here? You all rank NO TIME TO DIE near the bottom so you are all just reinforcing the one sided point of view. It also seems an American centric view where the film didn’t do so well. In Britain and Europe where the film did much better l think we are more accepting of less cookie cutter films. This was a brave powerful film. In fact l have never been so moved by a Bond film. To say that it is not a Bond movie as one of you have and Daniel Craig is not Bond is also way off the mark. But l guess it is pointless to disagree because of the one sided nature of this podcast.
Hi Mark…we had no idea what we would think of NTTD when we decided to do this. And as we kept our rankings secret from each other, we weren’t even sure what they would be until we recorded this!
I don’t think any of said Craig wasn’t Bond, in fact a few of us said in our intros that we believe he’s the BEST Bond.
We just had issues with some of the writing he was given. And in general, the script was the biggest problem we had with the movie.
Which is a shame because there were many elements we really liked in this that we pointed out.
So we did our best to keep it balanced, but it just worked out that most of us weren’t impressed.
Interesting thought that perhaps Americans are harder on this movie than British audiences…we have friends in both countries and personally we’ve seen opinions of the film split down the middle, no matter what country they were from.
That, that’s our perspective. Appreciate you listening and for the comment!
Favorite Bond: Brosnan
Best Bond: Craig/Connery
Worst Bond: Moore
Underrated Bond: Lazenby
Most Penitential Bond: Dalton
Nice! My personal fave is Dalton but I think Connery is probably the "best."
This is one of those movies where I really enjoyed it, but I absolutely understand the criticisms. You guys brought up excellent points, but I had fun. They need to go back to stand alone stories in my humble opinion.
Thank you! And agreed that they need to go a new direction next time with stand alone stories. I’ve been hearing that from even the fans of this movie.
I never got the confusion about whether the child is Bond's. We the audience know she's pregnant from the PTS, Bond knows right away because of the blue eyes and it seemed obvious to me that she was just saying it wasn't because she was angry. I don't think it was supposed to be a mystery.
I think we felt it was a “wishy washy” reveal when it should’ve had more impact. I think Bond movies work best when they are direct and to the point.
So there are actually people who thinks that DAF, DAD and NSNA are better than NTTD. Interesting .🧐
Yep, I guess that would be us! But I think we spell out our reasons pretty well.
If you're curious to know specifically what we thought of DAF, DAD, and NSNA, we briefly review all the older Bond films in parts 1 and 2 here-
ua-cam.com/video/u_glYs0zld8/v-deo.html
It says a lot about a movie when four die-hard Bond fans have the same reaction as me - who is admittedly not a Bond fan. I've seen all of Craig's movies on the big screen but none of the previous (except for the occasional TV airing or home video rental growing up). Casino Royale and Skyfall were spectacular while Quantum was dreadful and NTTD was . . . confusing and predictable, if such is possible. Mostly it felt unimportant, and that's unfortunate. Enjoyed this ranking video. My favorite moments were Athena's "sneakily snuck" phrasing ( 27:09) and hearing Brad laughing on Athena's feed (1:00:09).
Hey Paul, great to hear from ya! Interesting to hear your perspective from a mostly-Craig guy. Sounds like we are all on the same page (and I also love those little moments in the podcast). Happy holidays!

I have watched nearly all the bond movies up to Craigs casino royale. Didnt like the new direction/feel that casino royale bought to bond so I haven't seen any others yet.
Favorite bond: brosnan
Best bond: Moore
Worst bond: Dalton
It might be worth giving Skyfall a chance, though if you didn’t like the more dramatic/realistic tone of Casino you might not be happy with that one either.
@@RetroCarsForever Yeah I'll probably watch them all one day just to say I've seen them all.
I don't think the bond films should be made too realistic, that has never been what a bond story is about. It's all about the far fetched, way out, larger than life , fantastical villainous endeavors of maniacal masterminds planning world domination, and a suave debonair racing against time to foil their plans, all with imagination inspiring gadgets that could actually be within the reach of creating by the average man if only he had the time to spend tinkering in his workshop, and maybe produce for himself the gadgets to be a possible equivalent of the dashing hero himself.
And why didn't Bond take Madeleine and Mathilde off the island and let 007 finish the mission? Because that would have made too much sense? Japan & Russia wanted to know why there was a plane over a disputed island but didn't care about all the activity before they got there? Also, Goodspeed escaped when Alcatraz got bombed in The Rock and MacGyver killed nanobots with a hyperbaric chamber. 4DX was fun though.
Huh, never thought about why BOND stayed behind and Nomi didn't...Good point! You'd think she's the more official/younger/more athletic agent.
007 did finished the mission lol
@@greatwuta He means Nomi (007).
But honestly...It's a Bond movie, Bond's gotta stay behind and save the day while someone else takes his family to safety, even though that's not the most logical thing to do.
The new 007 should have stayed to finish the mission. That makes more sense story wise… but not much sense when James Bond is missing from the climax of his own film. And yeah! Disputed waters… with previous activity… good point. Too many questions, not enough answers.
At last! A round table that has the guts to point out that that the emperor is wearing no clothes. I have been a Bond fan since 1971 (an English one) and this is my number 26 (on your scale). What has made this the worst for me is that with the Cuba sequence in ‘No Time To Die’ the filmmakers have shown that they could have given us a traditional ie. ‘proper’ Bond film updated to 2020s expectations had they wanted to but no, from the return to Norway onwards we had to be subjected to banal soap operatics and a grandstanding curtain call for actor Daniel Craig on an almost literal stage at the end. I felt no emotion at all at the climax, if we can call it that, as it seemed that we were being asked to say goodbye to the actor, not the character. Terrible!
Glad you appreciated this podcast, if not the movie!
You misspelled license.
Nope, "Licence" is officially spelled with the C (UK spelling) for this movie. It's on all the posters, trailers, IMBd, etc.
www.imdb.com/title/tt0097742/
@@RetroCarsForever What, like color and colour?
@@zacharylewis2802 Exactly!
Ugh, why the Diamonds Are Forever love? That movie is a P.O.S. of a movie. The worst James Bond 007 movie of all time.
I wouldn't call it LOVE but I think I was harsh on it before. It's just good, stupid, escapist fun and while it's not perfect, there's still a lot to like.
We went more into our thoughts on Diamonds in our last Bondcast here (queued up for ya)...ua-cam.com/video/u_glYs0zld8/v-deo.html
Love how Americans pronounce "craig" like "kreg" it's an "ai" not "e" the "ai" sounds like "ay" haha
Weird, I dont know if I've ever consciously thought about that before! Guess we have an "American Accent" 😆
I wonder how you got this right when you overrated similary awful Skyfall and underrated Quantum of Solace which is the only Craig's movie where he reminds me of classical Bond character to some point and the story was by far the most interesting. Maybe this movie will redpill you...JB is indeed about fantasy and since you rated Casino as number two I guess your fantasy is getting your balls smashed? Xd What sucked about the movie: dumb Bond leaving his wife for a slander, Lynch who is only there to push some agenda (killing the scientist for saying he could kill all black people lol), 007 number assigned to Lynch - spitting to JB fans faces, lame storyline, gay Q which is irrelevant, garbage villain who has no reason to hate Bonds wife, video game like action scenes.
