The 80s by far the best era compared to the crap of today ,so many great ballads, songs with effortless meaning, what's happened, I can't remember the last time I heard a good new song,80s forever
I was a 14 year old boy sitting on a squab in the back of a Toyota Landcruiser traveling around Australia when this song was released and thrashed on the radio. Sounds just as good today as it did 43 years ago. Absolute masterpiece.
31/08/2024. Been probably 42 years since I last heard this last night. Now I have woken up with this song in my head. I was looking for ‘Bad Habits’ as I really liked it when I was 10. Clicked on this, wow, I remember it now. Now as an older man with a few decades of history behind me Bad Habits has nothing on this song for me. It’s amazing how a song can make you feel as if you’re in the song itself & it was written about you. Memories. Nostalgia. Regret. Sadness
Nostalgia is the hearts way of reminding you of something you once loved ! It travels in many forms ; in a song , in a scent or in photographs... but no matter how it comes to you it will always have the same bitter sweet taste 😂
👏👏👏WOW👏👏👏 I Knew this song with Mick Fleetwood, and God... when the song is good... is good!!! I just loved this interpretation with Billy Field! Thank you and hug from Brasil!🤗💙🌺💫
A Sunny Sydney Sunday 🌞 I was waiting for a friend on a corner at Potts Point ☝️ A Car Pulled Up 🏎 It was a Convertible - top down Billy Field was driving, he & a friend were laughing the happiest of laughs 😄😃 I smile at the memory - 35 yrs on 💫 👱🏼♀️~👵🏻 ✨
When I was 16 or 17 I was in a band. I was the keyboard player. We were recording a demo in a studio in the city and I was trying to get my head around a Hammond organ. In walks a stranger and starts to show me what to do. It was Billy Fucking Fields! Can you believe it? Turns out he owned the studio. It was mesmerising to watch him play, and he made me look even worse than I was 😂 Seem to be a really nice guy and it’s something I’ll never forget it.
Getting music played in Australia was incredibly hard as a handful of promoters had the scene sewn up. Billy's parents had a lot of money and he used their wealth to get his music played on the radio. Without that we would never have heard of him. He sang a few great songs.
As soon as he started singing it hit me right in the feels... I was back in Yr 9 in in 1981 in high school hopelessly in love with a girl who wasn't interested in me 🤣🤣🤣
I think when you’re a kid in high school, you become interested in the pretty girl and show her affection, but at some point come to the realisation that she actually likes somebody else but doesn’t reciprocate the feelings towards you, but you hope one day out of the blue she come to the realisation who really liked her That the person that like to from the start, was there all the time waiting for their shot.
I was only three when this song came out, but this sucker remains an all-time classic that always manages to tug at the heartstrings. The standard radio version of the track that most 'old-timers' are familiar (the back-up of the orchestra) elevate it perfectly. Compare this to some modern tracks where the use of an orchestra is often overdone to the point of depreciating a song instead of lifting it.
I love this song my uncle played guitar for Billy in many concerts and i got to go back stage and party with him and the boys one night Billy got pissed as and i got all the band stoned as hell on some killer Adelaide weed Billy was maybe the nicest star i ever spent the night with so down to earth wow i was so young then now im 55 dam Billy were did the time go my friend .
I was listening to this song while I was driving along Parramatta Road from the Sydney CBD to Parramatta in November 2019, exactly 3 years ago to the day.

Billy was actually a poor little rich boy and used his parents vast wealth to put an album together and promote it. He did well out of it too.
