    Learn all about different time signatures on guitar. The way you learn which time signature you're playing in is to count the beat, or tap out the beat as you play, or listen. Once you figure out the beats, you then have to group those beats in a pattern. Usually the patterns are in multiples of four, or three, etc.
    For example, if there are 16 beats, it's a multiple of four, which means you can group these beats in groups of 4. What if you wanted to break it into three? You can try playing this but it may sound a little strange. It all depends on what you're playing. There's a lot to learn about how to determine time signatures, so be sure not to miss this lesson!

      @@satchrules101 what isn't clear to me is what is the practicall application of having eighth notes (for example, in 6/8). I get that this 6/8 is composed of 6 beats, where the first and fourth beats are generally emphasized, but what about the "eighth notes" part? Is there a way to 'feel' that part or how does it affect the music?

    My song is in 4/4 time signature can I use 11/8 finger pattern. This is for my new song and i am very much confused.please help

    • @GuitarTricks
      @GuitarTricks  Рік тому

      11/8 wouldn't fit exactly with a 4/4. You'd need a finger pattern that fits within a multiple of 4.

    did anybody else count the progression at 5:45 on 5 ? man I cannot believe I still can't get my head around this.....I've watched tons of vids.. dammit...I appreciate what you guys are doing but maybe you could give these lessons with contemporary examples... For Eg: playing the song Snow (hey) by rhcp and teaching to count that.. just a suggestion though....maybe that'll help for slow learners like myself.

    • @arnabchakravorty9399
      @arnabchakravorty9399 3 роки тому +1

      From what I figured, I think Snow is in 4/4.

    • @satchrules101
      @satchrules101 3 роки тому

      You can still have a slower tap for that piece.. it would just change the title me signature... the notes would be faster over the slower beat .. that’s how I’m thinking hope that made sense!

  • @Giofergom

    So let me see if my noob brain got that right.
    at the 15:00 mark, that pattern is a 7/4 because the whole pattern fits in a single bar right?
    So it can not be a 3/4 followed by a 4/4 or vice-versa.
