Nice video! 👍 I purchased the H1 recently and just didn’t care for it much. I modified the design, removed the hump tip, and dropped the point. For me, the mod made this knife a keeper! Fantastic knife now.
Very interesting mod! Sounds good! I haven't yet to use this but specially now summer approaching I see this becoming one of my go to blades Thanx for watching, have a great day!🌲🔪🌲
Hi, have this one since a few years, one of my favourites by far. Surprisingly useful and nimble for a pretty thick blade, does everything. I really like their handles also. Great videos, thanks. C.
Yeah, the overall nimbelness, the balance of the knife, handle geometry etc. surprised me. Im really digging this, and see this becoming one of my high use knives. Thanx for watching, have an awesome day!🌲🔪🌲
Looks like a really practical design. Are you suprised because it's Swedish 😂🇸🇪. Great that the trout are back. I hear that there are a lot less trout up here than there used to be. I certainly don't catch that many. I so hope I get to find time for more fishing this summer.
Haha, lol was actually thinking the exact same thing! Sweden really exels in all things practical. Mora, Ikea etc etc. and apparently also Fällknivens... Yeah, its sad how the Trout populations have declined in general allover Finland. But also Im happy to notice that in some waters the populations are also coming back, with the people becoming more aware of these things. Thanx for watching Tim, have an awesome day!🌲🔪🌲
So glad you found it to be a great all around knife. It's my FAVORITE Fallkniven, it does not excell at any one particular task, but does many things well! The ergonomics are spot on, excellent! It's my favorite EDC, just a joy to use, relatively light weight, yet very strong. Glad to see you overseeing the forest for illegal poachers in both fish and game, it's a very important responsibility. So many have no respect for our natural resouces! We must protect them now so our future generations will have the joy and privelage to have these opportunities! Great review, hope others see what a great all around knife this truly is, I call it a "Sleeper", not many people are aware of this knife, but once the word get's out, it will really be popular! 👍👍
There's many things that was a surprise: overall nimbelness, sliciness, handle ergonomics (which is important to me. Does nice feathers. I've tested the F1 few times and this is much more comfortable, and hand filling and therefore in that sense better for long term carving, feathers etc. and this doesnt have a finger guard which I like). Also has an interesting, and unsusual grind, that makes this stand out. Liking it! (Illegal fishing, specially in such a small trout streams is very very sad, and can do pretty big damage in a short time) Thanx for watching, have an awesome day!🌲🔪🌲
@@OldForestBushcraftI wonder how this would compare to a Cold Steel Master Hunter? I know that they have a full flat grind. I hear that these are available in CPM 3V for less than $100…
I tested one briefly in Lamnia. A good knife, was on my shopping list, but the price has gone up. Its at the moment 194 euros in lamnia, which is almost the same as for h1 in Elmax (219). Cheers! @@HankSielski
Nice video and glad to hear the stream is coming back. Is there much catch-and-release fishing in Finland? Many of the famous rivers in the United States have pretty restrictive regulations. I also hate poachers and game hogs. It's a real problem in the western U.S., with few game wardens and millions of acres to patrol.
Yes there is quite a bit of that catch and release fishing also. Even in this stream, many many years back, before this was closed for good. Imo the illegal fishing took the population down. The poaching has been increasing here (though not so bad as in the north or east). Lynx and wolf fur is high demand in black market. I try to keep my eye on that as well. Been part time Forest guardian or Forest keeper, dont know the correct term. Thanx for watching my friend, have a great day!🌲🔪🌲
This is interesting design, and very unusual, yet seems to work beautifully. Im seeing this becoming one of my heavy use knives. Thanx for watching, have a great ay!
Thank you so much! In the prime season I fish at least couple of times a week (in open water, I dont do that much ice fishing). The general fishing permit is about 40 euros. And with that you can fish in mist of the waters. But sometimes you need to have a special permit. Like f.e. in the near here is a trout lake where I fish, and that requires a special permit (which is like 20 euros for the whole year). Thanx for watching, have an awesome day!
I've had an F1 but gave it to a friend. I found the handle smallish. Loved the blade, though. That knife looks great! I like the background you add to your reviews. It's interesting to hear about outdoor life in Finland! Another great video!
This is very nice. I've handled the F1 few times, and also didn't love that much the handle. This is much rounder, and thicker. Very comfortable indeed. I predict this is going to be a heavy use knife for me.. Thanx, I made a decision at some point that I will film outside all my videos. Great excuse to go outdoors, and I feel if Im doing a video of a knife, thats the environment where the outdoor knives belong anyways. Thanx for watching!! Cheers!🌲🔪🌲🐺🌲🍺🌲
I have always wondered the same thing with Falkniven- what is special about it compared to my other knives that are woods oriented. The UA-cam channel dbk days they make their favorite knives. Most models I have seen lacks belly (which I have found to be my favorite shape for bushcraft). That model you have there goes against what I have seen with fallkniven's designs. It reminds me of my Small Northern hunter for sure (and it is one of my favorite knives). :) Still waiting on my custom XL Northern Hunter to arrive at my doorstep. Extremely excited for it. Thank you for the review as always, -Seth
The unusual grind is something that also caught my eye so to speak. I really dig it. And have to say I’ve been surprised with how much Iike Fällknivens. I always thought that whats the fuss about etc. Have been pleasantly surprised! Good ergos, and most importantly very nice convex grinds. Thanx for watching and have an awesome day!
Just ordered the Elmax version! 😊
Ok! Its really nice blade. Have quite surprised by it to be honest..

Me too, i did order the knife😊

I think the term here is game warden. Good for you for spending some of your time to help protect the natural resources.@@OldForestBushcraft
Oh ok! Never heard of that term before, thanx!!🌲🔪🌲@@8626John
The H1 ist cool, maybe i buy it also, cause the the reasons you listed.

Love the content! How often do you get out to fish?
Is a fishing permit expensive in Finland?

@@OldForestBushcraftI’m not a fisherman, but I think that dragging a floating lure behind a boat is called trolling in English…
Yeah that was the word I was looking! Thanx!@@HankSielski
