Fallkniven H1 Hunting Knife for Bushcraft???

- Here’s my quick out-of-the-box review of the Fallkniven H1 hunting knife. It may be designed for hunting, but the H1’s profile is perfect IMO for general bushcraft-perfect size, comfortable handle, and constant blade sweep, which is just what I like and look for in a bushcraft knife.
I will say this: the edge out of the box was disappointing for a Fallkniven. It was serviceable, but nothing like the hair-popping edges I’m used to with Fallkniven products.
We’ll see how this knife performs and I may knock out another Try-stick to evaluate it’s capabilities.

You have to remember the knives and sheaths are made for the artctic. Kydex becomes brittle and can break when it's very cold. The zytel sheath doesn't and it does leave some room between sheath and blade so it doesn't freeze solid into the sheath. The H1 has a great handle for prolongued use and that's what you do in bushcraft and hunting. The F1 is a typical 'just in case you need it' (aka survival) knife with a bit slimmer profile. I think the new 'Scout' in elmax fits that bill even better. I do love elmax steel. But everybody is entitled to their opinion.
Thanks for the comment. You bring up a great point about zytel being much more durable in cold weather. Yes, Elmax is great stuff and one of my favorite steels.
Great review of the H1. Your comments about it are spot on! I have had and sold several Falkniven knives. They are very good knives but there was something about each one that bugged me. I came over here because Scab mentioned you in a video about the trysick challenge.
Scab is one cool dude! 👍 Fallkniven has always been a love/hate with me. Good knives, but not great IMO. Always something that just gets under my skin that I don’t like. Yet, I still continue to do this to myself and buy them in hopes that I will feel differently with the next one, haha! 😂 Maybe this H1 will seal the deal. If not, I think it’s time to just walk away from Fallkniven and root them out of being part of my knife addiction. 😂 BTW, you do great knife work, brother! Awesome talent! 👍
