Why on earth would meteorologist be the one to break this kind of news on social media for one of the most monitored volcanos that also doubles as a national park that gets 2 million visitors a year. As an Iowan, Iowa lost to Iowa state for the first time in over 6 years. We're... conflicted.

I don’t know why college football was created, but my best guess is it’s more local for states who don’t have NFL teams.
Corn is the most grown crop in the Midwest in states like Nebraska and South Dakota.
The west coast is known for getting forest fires often.
This is my first time hearing about it but apparently there’s a tropical storm in California, which are common on the gulf coast, but maybe not as much on the west coast.

I am surprised that Florida is expressing mis-information about tropical weather. If wind are hitting sustained speeds of 100, it is not a tropical storm. It is not only a hurricane, but is actually a category 2 hurricane. So either the wind speed is misrepresented here, or the categorization of the storm is.

Maybe Florida just assumed that California was over exaggerating, being relatively inexperienced with tropical storms.

I was in San Diego in the mid 80s when a Tropical Storm made land fall there. People were panicked and I was just strolling around like "What?" I grew up on the East Coast and was there for Hazel and Agnes. That little storm had no juice.

Washington is on fire too... Packwood and Kalama, along with the many other vegetation, commercial, and vehicle fires in other areas. The Packwood fire was from a thunderstorm about a month ago that struck Goat Rocks. Kalama I'm not sure what started it, but it's smaller than the Packwood fire.

I've been to the Corn Palace...NGL it is pretty cool, esp if you visit again after the theme changes & the big pieces are replaced. (I don't know how to explain it other than to say "It's like a painting, or mosaic... just swap the paint or tiles with multiple hues of corn on the cob.")

The fun thing about the fire in Idaho was that I found out about it due to the smoke in the sky in Utah from the wind blowing the smoke South. I honestly didn't even think much of it at first, just thought it was normal smog until someone pointed out that it smelled more like smoke than smog then I checked the weather and saw Idaho on fire!

Cali on fire and about to be hit with their first tropical storm in 25 years.. oh boy. If it helps, based on temps here in GA, we may actually get a cold enough winter for a chance of snow. If it doesn't end up being a dry winter, then we got a wildfire chance instead. So hey, GA might either get a year with people freaking out over an inch of snow or another year of being the east coast tinder box.

The OK and CA talks is really ironic to me. I work for a company with a plant out in OK that barely pays a livable wage, with a strong rule that if you tell anyone else your salary then you will be wrote up or worse straight up fired. My hypothesis of why was that they didn't want to give raises, they wanted people to work for the same pay for as long as possible, then replace them. This is supported by the fact that a friend was hired when their starting pay was 9 an hour, then I was hired a few months later after they bumped it to 10 an hour, but they kept him at 9 (as a friend I knew he wouldn't mention my name if they asked him how he found out). The ironic part is that the company that owns us is based in CA and micromanages the hell out of us
My understanding is that it is illegal at the federal level for a company to prevent workers from telling each other how much they make.
Lots of companies say that there are consequences but don't actually follow through because the threat is enough to get the result they want without violating the law.
It might be a good idea to document the threats and any evidence that the company actually followed through, just in case.
@@ThoDuSt yea, I did a quick search and looks like that is illegal on a federal level. I am already considering going to a trade school for night classes to find something better anyways. Also as an Okie it is pretty much ingrain in me that if you don't like your job, screw them find another, and there are PLENTY of openings right now. Plus less hassle that way, karma will get them in the end
