You won't ever be able to fully recreate any irl tactic because an engine won't ever support all these kinds of inputs at the same time: therefore, at least for me, you should be focusing on which movements players have to do when they are in certain positions of the pitch. I've messed around with other tactics, but a fairly standard 4-3-3 always seems to work best for me. Like a proper 4-3-3, not one of these 4-5-1's that cosplays as a 4-3-3. A big target man up front in the middle, flanked by pacey advanced forwards either side of him. A BBM in the middle of midfield flanked by playmakers either side. Wing backs on support, with a couple of reliable centre backs. In the first few seasons of the game while I am still building my team and coming up against better sides I will make some tweaks here and there, but it remains largely the same. In the Champions league when up against world class wingers I will sometimes switch to inverted wing backs on defence, crowd the central defensive area, force them to the outside, and rely on tall centre backs to deal with the crosses. Then hit on the counter with those pacey advanced forwards and knock downs from going long to the target man.
Youve got to have the sweeper keeper on attack, 2 ball playing defenders, inverted wing backs, a dlp on defend (dm), 2 roaming playmakers (cm), 2 AP's on the wings and a deep lying forward
My 3 tactics are a balanced 4-3-3 pressing off the ball and control posession on it, a 4-2-4 for when I am desperate for a goal and finally a dark arts tactic bus is parked and time wasting on full with 2 dm's and 1 box to box with the 3 up top which caught out leicester on the counter in my last game. I'm in the playoffs with Bristol City with 7 games to go in my first season atm.
@zealand very informative video for a new player. I've been wanting to build a tactic around having super strong midfielders. I think you've helped explain the 3 basic tactics i can build and what to look for in my wingers and fullbacks. You should make a few more targeted, shorter videos about tactics you've had success with, what player types you need to pull them off and what not. Thanks again!
Sweeper(su) | Wing Backs (su), Bpd (de) - if suitable players / CD(de) | BWM(de) | CM(at), DLP(su) | Inside Fwds (at), Advanced Fwd(at). I try to play faster and longer passes for my AF to be able to get behind the defenders and not drop deeper for the ball. Wing backs provide width while my IFs cut inside for Robben/Salah like shooting opportunities. High press, prevent GK. I tend to prefer fastest players for transfer options.
Haven't played Football manager since like over 10 years ago, but am tempted to put the manager's suit back on once again.. game has advanced a lot since i last plaed :)
And also make sure the player instructions and the player traits are not clashing together, it affect the what they do on that position most times…. I drop guidelines and tactics stuff also on this my channel game addict, you can easily download the tactics in the description of each videos if you have issues with creating tactics ur self
I’ve always tried being unique, so recently I used a 5-1-3-1 with inverted wing backs who formed the midfield and it worked so well. Dominated the J1 league and the HANA K league 1 with Yokohama mariners and jennoam dragons respectively and I think it is insane
Im a man utd fan . but for years I literally just watched Arsenal invincible vid and just applied what the vid said to the tactic . an d for years I always had an insanely op tactic . especially when you could choose to be fluid . i might go back and try that again .
I almost always play a 4-3-3 with a half back and attacking CWB or IWB depending on whether I want to underlap or overlap in a particular match. The IWB seems to work better when pressing and maintaining the ball in possession though, so that is my go to. The half back with two ball playing defenders plus the keeper makes keeping the ball absolute cake.
Why is it not recommended to have both a mezzala and an inside forward on the same side of the pitch? To my understanding, in this combination, mezzala will make overlapping runs acting almost as a wing-back in possession. I currently use this combination and it works wonders for me. The only thing to mention is that it's worth considering playing your full-back in a defensive role in that situation - so you don't have two players making the same runs in the attack. Inverted full-back/wing-back or simply a full-back-on support works great.
I usually start building a tactic from looking at my first choice goalkeeper. That usually determines a lot. Poor aerial reach? Likely play a higher line. Poor one on one's? Park the bus
I both agree and disagree on the whole low block thing. I have a 3-4-3 that when attacking evolves into a 2-3-5, but once we loose the ball and they have luck playing out of our initial counter-press, we go back in a low block and become a 5-4-1, which waits for the opponent to enter our half and then we swarm them in a press like wasps. It works amazingly well. Scores a hell of a lot of goals and is extremely defensively solid. It's a great tactic. However where i agree is that it's not something i would recommend for a new player to try to emulate. You have to know what you are doing to make something like that work. A new player is better of trying to make a simple 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 gegenpress. It's always a really good tactic and it's probably two of the easiest tactics to make.
My way of building tactic is different i build it around how i want to play usually based around a irl style of play then play games while tweaking it to make it more like how they play irl for example my Liverpool tactic I've found that trent wasn't inverting as much as i wanted him to so i moved the dm to a ldm & moved my rcm to rcam & trent inverts way more then he used to he got almost 30 assists as a result
For me all i need is quick wingbacks to overlap and cross , and a fast box to box cm , supported by a defensive minded deep lying playmaker , and a all out attacking cm , never ever failed me, no matter the sfyle of play. Edit Pressing forward is also key to my play
This year I'm playing a tactic. That start now as a 424 in defence. But when we're in attack ends up as a 226. It uses an inverted fall back on the left with one Central defender on cover.Who stays back as our defending power. Then we have a libero on support, And a wing back on attack. So when we attack the liberal moves up into being more of a defensive midfielder, And our wing back goes shooting up the pitch. In the midfield I have a defensive midfielder on ball winning midfiand another defensive Midfielder set to segundo, So when on attack he goes shooting up the field and libero fills in his spot. Upfront we have advanced play maker on the left, Inside forward on the right, And right now. The world's greatest strike partnership with a combined sixty goals this season, One is an advanced forward. One is a pressing forward. I play this system because I wanted to play Total football But you can't do that in fm. I use a whole bunch of individual instructions on the players to make them do what I want to do and end up on the pic where I want them to end up. We play mostly out of defence with it.Set to then go out onto the wings, work into the box With low crosses. And if you're wondering yes it's a gegenpress tactic.
Z, can you explain the main diference between IF and IW? Thanks for the upload! Been doing a save with Tottenham and I've getting better I think. Love ur content
They both start from a wide position, but I think IF's will try to cut inside BEFORE recieving the ball, and IW's will cut inside AFTER recieving the ball. I think you can expect more crosses from IW's, and more chances on goal from IF's. If the player is a world class finisher I like to play them as IF, and if they are better crossers I play them as IW. I usually play one IF on one side, and either IW or W on the other side 😊
A couple weeks ago I had no idea what FM was. I happened upon your channel after watching a Wrexham video. Fast forward to now and I’ve watch most of your FM videos and have installed the 20 league database and am in the middle of a cockfosters to the prem run. You sir are a modern day super villain.
Will a carrilero get in the way of an inside forward? I worry that if I use box to box he will run into the same space as the IF but I believe carrilero will just hang outside the box near the edge.
I want to see a test where a team with 1 passing centre backs play with a high block pressing ball playing defender style works out and then do it again with 20 passing and see how much changes
Frequent hater here (not really love you Z), ngl I think you’re really behind on tactics this year. This is the best fm ever purely because of the inverted full backs, liberos, half backs, better ai positional play. And yet for a fm creator you haven’t really got wild, haven’t really done a Pep fluid back 3/4, or come out with one of those brilliant asymmetrical tactics which look insane but just tick in the engine. I guess I’m not thinking this vid but the systems from the twitch save, always pretty similar tactics. what happened to the narrow 4132 from the other year, why not use a back five or create a libero tactic in a league you’ll be farming in a few months regardless? Don’t get me wrong everyone should play how they want to but again, for a fm creator I have seen little evidence that you can get IFBs working for a whole season. Love the content, love the new news channel, love the twitch vods, have seen very little development tactically since release
Can you please do a video going in depth about every position and where they go on attack and defence please,I’m useless and can’t find anything working
Would someone be able to give me some advice pls. I just bought fm24 on ps5, I’m a couple weeks into the actual season and yet some features such as recruitment are still locked for me. Is my save just bugged and should I just start a new save? Very confused rn
The Squad report completed with the coach with the best judge of CA. Does Tactical Knowledge make a difference here? Logically, you would think it would, but you didn't mention it. I usually go with that when starting with a new team, as I don't know the players.
You say here that having a WBR and an AMR with no overlap instructions will cause conflict. But haven't you said in the past that the over/underlap instructions are unnecessary because players will automatically look to do that anyway? Something which will surely take care of itself even more with the positional play in FM24.
I just want to play the game so bad. I had luck one save making a good tactic and club but i just cant play it anywhere else and its pissing me off cuz i like the game, but i also wanna play it for more then one season. I just need some proper help
I found that analyzing your squad and building a tactic that fits your team is just Step 1. You still have to play the game. And when you play, you’ll see the flaws in your tactics and adapt accordingly. I also recommend playing on Comprehensive Highlights once in a while. Just to see how each player's role and instructions work together.
I still get caught with my own tactics that what I THINK a player should be doing doesnt match the instructions. This has helped a little in that it explains some roles, but -for instance - if I want to play a 5-3-2 does "dribble more" mean my wide cb is going to blindly run into the attacker ot as I want when pressure is off move forward into midfield with the ball and then look for the right pass.

I sometimes struggle making tactics and this helped a lot. Thanks for breaking down things step by step
I am a simple man, I made 1 tactic and use it for every save
Youve got to have the sweeper keeper on attack, 2 ball playing defenders, inverted wing backs, a dlp on defend (dm), 2 roaming playmakers (cm), 2 AP's on the wings and a deep lying forward
That's 11 playmakers, volleyballing the puck softly next to the goalposts.
If you have too many Raumdeuters, False 9s and Trequartistas you're likely in a Pepsi advert from the Aughts..
Thanks z I hate copying and pasting tactics from yt but struggle making consistent tactics this helps a lot
That frog toy at the back is really having a zesty look at Zealand 😹😹😹
now we need your brother to do a breakdown of his tactic
I always create a tactic around the players I have , because if a player can't play a target forward etc then there isn't A point
I use something similar to this. Get a really good tall and athletic HB and he'll work wonders.
2:46 how do you get to this screen ? I searched, but i can't find it !
still need help?
@@cechu6418 nah it's ok i figured it out, thanks !
It's always a really good tactic and it's probably two of the easiest tactics to make.
your player names pronounciation is always on point
I play a 4-2-4 with Leicester and for some reason it's working really good I'm 2nd in the prem in my second year in Leicester
i loved this video. have helped me alot even tho ive played since 2015 haha
That anse caralinin mention made me so nostalgic
Zealand in a Revs kit? Let's GOOO
This year I'm playing a tactic.That start now as a 424 in defence.But when we're in attack ends up as a 226.
I watch Zealand videos, even though I never played Football Manager 😢
Z, can you explain the main diference between IF and IW?
Thanks for the upload! Been doing a save with Tottenham and I've getting better I think. Love ur content
They both start from a wide position, but I think IF's will try to cut inside BEFORE recieving the ball, and IW's will cut inside AFTER recieving the ball. I think you can expect more crosses from IW's, and more chances on goal from IF's. If the player is a world class finisher I like to play them as IF, and if they are better crossers I play them as IW. I usually play one IF on one side, and either IW or W on the other side 😊
ps5 fm doesn’t have the analysis, another thing added to the list of the console versions don’t have on fm
There's no ''Best XI'' option for me on my Bournemouth save, any idea how to find it?
Currently doing a no-league to legend around the world glory hunter save , so I've ended up creating my own tactics.
2:13 - why the hell guy called Mazurkiewicz is listed as German 0_O??
Still the best at this Zee 👍
I want to see a test where a team with 1 passing centre backs play with a high block pressing ball playing defender style works out and then do it again with 20 passing and see how much changes
3-2-3-2 - Wing backs for the win!
FREEDOOOOOOOOMMMMMM!!!!!! FOUR FOUR FROGGING TWO!!!!
I really want that frog! Where did you get him lol
Fantastic video
I always make my own not necessarily like odd shaped things that work but I never copy tactics takes it away from the game and the achievement
The Squad report completed with the coach with the best judge of CA.
Does Tactical Knowledge make a difference here?
Logically, you would think it would, but you didn't mention it.
I usually go with that when starting with a new team, as I don't know the players.
Do you guys think fm is worth it on console? I think of switching to it due to ea’s consistent bs, but I’ve heard that it’s not that good on console
A Totally related question to your video, maybe ... If the 'at his best' Eric Cantona was in FM, what would his stats be ?
Why can't I find the centre midfielder, Belarmino Seca? 😅
He was a newgen in the game unfortunately
@@ZealandonYT Oh my god it's Mr Sigma himself
You say here that having a WBR and an AMR with no overlap instructions will cause conflict. But haven't you said in the past that the over/underlap instructions are unnecessary because players will automatically look to do that anyway? Something which will surely take care of itself even more with the positional play in FM24.
Where can i get some of you're tactics?
You can either buy players for your tactic, or build tactic for your players.
i like to try zeelands Brothers Tactic he alweys use
damn i just stared playing fm. ive bit off more than i can chew.
4:40 Finnish?
I just want to play the game so bad. I had luck one save making a good tactic and club but i just cant play it anywhere else and its pissing me off cuz i like the game, but i also wanna play it for more then one season. I just need some proper help
i'm using the 4222 now in my save
Marco Rose 4222 is insane
Thank you sir
Since I've gone more structured, I've become very boring and staid but we're winning way more. Fluidity can kma.
I was literally looking up videos on this the last 2 days. Get out of my head Zealand.
KENNETH BRANAGH HAMLET MENTIONNED
Ansi Karulainen BINGO
"My brother's a very good Football Manager player and he's used the same tactic for, like, seven years and he never changes it no matter what's going on in the match. And he wins a lot of stuff."
So this video's a waste of time....
HELP I CAN JUST CHOOSE A FEW LEAGUES TO PLAY AND THE PLAYERS IN THEM ARENT REAL AND I DONT WHY
How would you go about this when you're dominating a very bad league and trying to win the Champions League?
Odd enough xbox doesn't have a analysis button
Watch full match
More z splains please
4 4 fucking 2
man u dumping on my style, using low block with my newly promoted team? The more pressure I invite the more space I can exploit for my advance forward 😅
I use squad planner
i've been using my 433 for years now :D it just works!
3 Views in 50 seconds, Zealand is on the up
Wait. I use squad planner.
learning from the crypto expert himself 🙌
fuckin foot it
There sadly isn't too much choice in this iteration. You either click Gegenpress and your tactic is good, or you don't and it isn't.
Not when you're doing Sunday league! Long live Brexitball!
XYZ
I think you over complicated this. You evolve your tactic over time. Your player don't need to be perfect on the role.
Its not intimidating at all, zealand over hyped it
all you need is to put tackling on hard, pressing to max tempo to max underlap (doesnt matter what your players are)
the engine is broken and shite and needs a full rewrite
I dont have analysis because i am ps 5 Edition
