Thank you for having me on. It was hilariously memorable.
Loved hearing your thoughts, subbed!!
Hei neighbour.. Im from Malaysia.
"Don't let them have sex with their wives for a week" took me out for 3 minutes
i saw that amazing Atletico Mineiro kit ❤
Break his legs? Hmmm.. Better get Roy Keane out of retirement
What I learnt from this video is that a striker with a broken leg is a striker you don't have to worry about
-Ramos
This advice is brought to you by.... the Diego Simeone footballing academy
😂😂
BusttheNet is the most underappreciated FM content creator. Absolute genius. Fantastic video and collaboration.
Spot on! Spot on!! Spot on!!!
Also I love his voice!!!
Couldn’t agree more!!
We need more Bustthenet and Zealand collabs, this is a wild combination!
Damn right !!!
As soon as I heard Busttthenet’s accent, I knew that there was something so pleasantly amiss. Turns out he’s from Singapore! Love to hear someone else from our little red dot so invested in FM23. The beautiful game is universal 💫
Sg we up
Yeah me too first time he spoke I was like "Wait, that (accent) sounds familiar".
I was gonna say, 'that accent sounds so similar', and then i see your comment, and I'm like 'oh no wonder then' LOL
as a LONG time daljit fan i never knew this! maybe he’s mentioned it before and i just forgot, either way thanks so much for sharing. much love to singapore from the US❤️😎
p.s. if you live there, are you excited for the grand prix this weekend? i’ve never heard a singaporean’s perspective on the race
@@wife9571 For me it's a just a thing that happens. Love the tourism it brings though.
I've learned a lot from Daljit's videos over the years. Great collaboration.
I realised after clicking your video and being the 26th viewer. I have no life apart from football manager. Thank you Zealand 🙏🏻
I often feel the same lol
Same here bruh
At least there are 25 people with less life than you!
football manager is life!
This “life” game is cringe, told my mum that she was “the best mom in the world”, she replied with “I don’t agree with your standards”, now she’s indifferent to me
Daljit is a tactical legend. as a 20+ year veteran myself, he manage to teach me a lot with his videos.
One tactical thing I think people get wrong easily, they don't make enough subs. I hardly go a match without making 5 subs. And most of the ones that I do less than 5 subs are when my 2nd team are on a pitch against an easily overpowered opponent. Like man, if you're run ragged that's fine, your job is keeping the first team fresh right now.
man i’m so stoked that you brought BTN on. i remember listening to this wise cap-dawning man guide me on my tactics back in the fm15 days. zealand you perfected this niche of YT but it makes me so happy to see you acknowledge the giants on whose shoulders you stand 👏
I love how you keep putting respect on Daljit’s name. The man is a genius! Very very cool vid from the both of you 🙏🏻
OH MY GOD!!! ABOUT TIME BUSTTHENET GOT ON!!!! Daljit is a straight up legend of the FM game
BusttheNet wearing an Atletico Mineiro Special Jersey! Awesome! Great video from two of the most impressive FM players.
love bustthenet, hope he comes by more often, he truly is a tactical genius
Amazing. Thanks for exposing (probs wrong word) other FM youtubers to the mainstream. Hes articulate, eloquent, and makes great points. Deserves subs! I immediately subbed after this
It's understandable, but I'd personally use the word exposure rather than the verb itself ;) but I'm just a non-native speaker living in the UK since 2017
daljit was preaching IWBs before zealand was even but spry island nation in the pacific… put some respect on the OGs!
but you’re right, since zealand has overtaken the legends of FM in popularity it’s awesome to see him collab with them. what a time to be an FM fan
The better word would be ‘showcasing’ or expression ‘giving a platform to’ 😊
On point number 3:
High line of engagement and higher defensive line are totally different, in terms of their actual positioning on the field, in different mentalities. For example, a mid block and standard defensive line on a attacking mentality is more or less the same, in terms of positioning, as a high line of engagement and higher defensive line on balanced.
If you don't mind, I'll leave one more tip here. It's the tip that made me improve the most.
I'm sure many people are like me and don't actually watch the games. BUT. Whenever you make a new tactic or whenever you feel like your tactic is not longer working as well as it once was or it otherwise doesn't fulfill any of your expectations (such as possession) WATCH your games. Watch and make tactical tweaks to get the players exactly where you want them, to get them to move the ball exactly how you want them, etc. You'd be surprised how often the reality differs from what you think your instruction says.
Been playing Championship/Football Manager for 30 years but still learned a few new things now.
Your recent Taunton save inspired me to do something similar so I’ve started a save with St Albans. We’ve just won the National League South in our first season and we’ve just played our first game in the National League. Let’s see how we go!
Now this is a good colab - Love Dajlit, glad to see him here
In FM24 I hard disagree with the 3rd tip regarding the low block. There's many scenarios where a low block system is the best system to defend against the opposition. Higher lines of engagement works well if you have players capable of pressing the opposition intensively (high work rate, high stamina, high physicals) and that's not always the case.
I won the Brazilian Championship with a 4-1-2-3 low block counter attack system where my midfield had an average age of 34yo besides a 33yo striker, a 35yo CB and a 31yo LB. Those guys simply can't press high for long periods and they need to be nursed to play the whole season without many injury problems, so I needed a tactic with a lower intensity for my squad to perform.
I love both of these channels. I was so glad to see Bust the net on this video, he is a great personality.
Been learning a lot lately with BustTheNet, when comes to tactics less is more just do minor tweaks depending on the opponent.
The collab that we NEEDED, love both channels
I've used 5-3-2 since 1986 ! Works great. Obviously I've refined it as more options have been introduced.
Bilardo would be proud of you.
OLHA A CAMISA DO COLOSSO DAS ALTEROSAS AI! CHEERS FROM BRASIL, AND CONGRATULATIONS ON THE GOOD TASTE IN SHIRTS, the manto da massa 2 is an unbeliavable shirt, MR Bustthenet, cheers from Clube Atletico Mineiro!
In the last season I played, I was having an absolute nightmare and was stuck in the bottom 4. I completely changed tactics halfway through the season and it transformed our season. We finished in the top half.
Such a shame how few subs bust the net has considering its probably the most in depth technical FM info on youtube..get the word oit guys, the guys a legend, lets get him the credit he deserves.
Two of my favourite FM content creators on one video!
@ #5... I've been playing this game since FM 08, admittedly with some breaks, but until 2/3 weeks ago it never happened to me this badly....
The other teams figured out how to play against me, we weren't creating many chances so I decided I need a fresh, new tactic. I created this beautiful 3-4-3 that we'll end up using for the rest of the season, but I forgot to check my set pieces so I conceded a goal on the counter because everyone apart from my GK was in the opposition's penalty box for an attacking corner in the 10th minute... 😂
Great video this, I'm a pretty chiselled FM vet but even I needed reminders on a few of these, it'll also be really handy for showing my friends who are still new to the game, so cheers guys you've probably saved me hours of giving advice
Never forget the most important, seemingly overlooked thing, that´s on the tactical screen. I wish i could put up a screenshot but that´s high priority to check it to know how well your game will go. It´s the color scheme of the field and if red dots are present or not, you get that all green and nice and you´re half way to victory.
I discovered the effect of aggressity recently with my striker and his 18… he win so much ball alone in back line by fighting for it…. I just fell in love so quickly :)
cheers, Daljit! Glad to see you collabing with Zealand 🤩
OH MY GOD! THE COLLAB WE'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR! Love your work gents :)
2 favorite FM experts!!! love these guys and so happy they collabed on a video! keep em coming PLEASE!
0:32 Shoutout to the editor for putting that in so quickly lmao
As an Everton fan, leaving the centre backs forward on defensive set pieces may be an improvement 😂
Also bringing DCL back
NEVER EVER park the bus. Never try to protect a lead. The amount of times I tried to protect a 1x0 lead and conceeded RIGHT after dropping the lines is baffling... Just lower the tempo, keep possession and waste some time and you should be fine!
A word on #4 Best Roles.. Some positions work better even if you set the player roles not to their preferred ones..
A lone striker in 433 works best as a Poacher even he's recommended to be a Target man or Attacking forward.
Winger positions work better as Wingers even if the players are IF or AMs vs narrow teams..
Might be obvious, but setting all three central midfielders creative roles won't be so effective, not because they won't defend, but because they won't make runs for each other..
Same with DC pairing.. even if they both like to Cover, it makes sense to set one of them to Stop.. provided you're not playing offside traps, otherwise I'd keep both as Defend..
@BusttheNet YOUR SHIRT IS AWESOME, LOVE IT!! GALOOO
Daljit absolute master of the game!!! so nice to see him here
Notes:
1. Break good player's legs
2. Deny sex for bad form
My coach already has 20 discipline, time to push that to 30 with home visits to make sure the conjugal ban is being upheld.
Have been friends with Bustthenet (Rashidi in FM Forums) a long time- he surely knows more than I do (been playing since CM2) and I continually pick his brain on tactics.
This is a fantastic video for me for personal reasons. Daljit, your videos always make me think of different perspective. it is why I decided to push the game's limit and trying real life analysis in the game. So thank You!!!
(Point 1) The marking option in the OI is actually zonal. (Point 3) While it is true (I play a lot of possession football). I don't know, I sorta don't agree completely because the AI can still call goals from sitting deep and inviting pressure. (Point 4) Ah rest defense. True. (Point 5) this is a hassle lol. honestly. but true. Point 6) totally agree. a player who has been poor for five games, you can drop, even reduce their playing time, and when they complain, its a win-win scenario. If they fight back and you cave, you give them motivation to step up (but you have to play them for five more games. consecutive game time is optional) . (Point 7) I wrote an article on this on FMScout lol. The defender running back scenario that Daljit talks about isn't aggression, aggression is the willingness to put get stuck in. Determination and workrate influences the desire to make that run in the first place despite knowing that getting to the player MIGHT NOT be possible. This is not to say that aggression Daljit is wrong about aggression. Just that scenario. Look up the meaning in the game. FM23 is BEAUTIFUL!!!. (Point 9) I agree with Daljit. Even in the real-world, most possession teams look to focus play through the middle to as it increases your chances of scoring goals. Defending teams looks to force play wide creating a horse shoe passing effect. The game interprets this well, if you're possession heavy side. (Point 10) Better players hide the flaws of a terrible tactics, while a good tactics elevates terrible players. It is much deeper but there is sort of a choice in FM 23; System or Individuals.
BussTheNet here? WOW! Keep up the good work
A fellow Hard Tackling aficionado! The cumulative bans are worth it for 1 or 3 points you wouldn't have gotten otherwise. Especially if you have a big enough squad.
That 442 with low defense e high offensive lines after score a goal is very interesting. I never thought about that. 🤔 4:14
15:27 yes i also witness my advance forward running back to defensive third and 2 footed a guy for a red card
personally the toughest thing for me is getting the transfer I want at an affordable price. often the ai team is asking me to pay 10x the value of a player that I want.
It's good to drop the pressing line if you are trying to invite the opponents to move up the field and hit them in a counter-attack. If, let's say, you have fast but not very smart winger, it's better give them space to run and not force them to attack a defense closed in the box. Also if you have a formation that doesn't cover the space well for pressing. To do it usually what works for me is not low, but medium line pressing.
I agree as well about not making sweeping changes. The frustrating part for me though is that my team is doing semi okay in mid table at the half way stage but I already know what I want to do next season but changing wholesale now would be very risky!
Amazingly put! I often play with high lines, but found my Sunderland team couldn't really press a Leicester that created 30 chances per game and lost a lot of games against them (even if they were a mid table team).
So, I invited them to come forward by dropping my line of engagement to low, maintaining the defensive line high, forcing shots outside the box. They created a lot during the game, but I managed to contain it. Counter attack in the 80th minute, scored, won the game 🙏
What to do against a striker like Haaland? Tight Marking never and Trigger Press always. He can bully any defender but you can leave him open for a pass and then try to immediately take the ball away from him.
don't normally watch zealand videos but enjoyed this one. heard about it while watching bustthenet stream on twitch.
the player form is a great advice that i follow since the beginning. The only difference is that don´t even bench them. They stay at home watching the game straight from the tv
is that a crazy rooster reference, galoooooo
great collab, you play off each other so well. Also, is there even a remote possibility of zealand being a manager/assistant manager at the next sidemen charity match?
Love this collaboration! And great tips!
Loved it. Great video.
Any tactic can work. But only if you buy good enough players to play it 😂
"Thanks for signing the contract New Player, now I will never speak to you again. good luck and goodbye. I PROMISE YOU NOTHING."
The 2 best content creators for FM. And then in the same video. What's not to like !!!
Regarding the matter of set pieces, I remember in, I think, FM18, during the beta, I was constantly conceding goals from counter-attacks after a set pieces. Like, multiple times in every game. So I went and checked. For some reason, the set-piece instructions were adjusted in a way that literally nobody was set to stay behind.
11:06 And in early versions you could fine them for literally no reason.
Yeah, I usually play with tight marking set on all opp attacking players. Idk, it just makes me feel more secure.
BusttheNet with a Atletico Mineiro banger!
Watching this from Singapore as well, from a fellow avid football manager
Bust the net is the GOAT! I’ve followed him for years. He is very underrated.
"Most of the time, Pep Guardiola isn't Pep Guardiola."
- Zealand, 2023
yoooo I KNEW THE ACCENT SOUNDED FAMILIAR 😂
Bustthenet is a fellow Singaporean? 🤝🏻
didn't think there were many of us who are so knowledgeable about FM and tactics
I couldnt have possibly anticipated this collab.
Number 2 - I see so many tactic creators do this. They have more in possession team instructions than i have team instructions, with intensity through the roof
Love the chemistry between you two!
I was like wtf is a Vijay sales sponsorship doing on Zealand channel
Love this collab. Hope you do another one soon
what you think you want: tight marking (opposition instruction)
what you might actually want: positional marking (player instruction)
Well... not quite 🤣
Actually you might want to press him and hard tackle him. Make it physical, foul him, and get him in 80% fatigued in 60 minutes
yo zealand gotta chill w the sirens I was watching this while driving haha😭😭great video bro got some great tips
Saw that beautifully shirt there, Bustthenet!
Bro chose violence over reason 😂
Teams response to there rival improving there squad in the transfer,I hope sport interactive can improve on that aspect of AI improve your top rival squad as a response to your strengthening
TIP Number 11
Choose a tactic and stick to that until you are absolutely confident in what you are doing. I mean you should be able to master this tactic. Even real world coaches dont master every formation and playstyle. They get an overall education in and on everything sure, but they often choose a formation and a playstyle and then they stick to it. Why ? Because you cant master it all. It's as simple as that.
"Play higher up to avoid goals" - Advice from tactical "genius" who loses 6 matches in a row... Good luck with that.
1) If you love tactics follow BTN. You won't regret.
2) If you don't know how to set your team instructions or simply don't want to take the time to do it, focus on recruiting players with high mental attributes and give them the freedom to decide.
The man bustthenet!!! Great video both
My end rum with Sevilla was so bad. Still did not change the tactic. Change it for the coming season. I made the mistake last season to play with 38 year old skrinar and Éder Militão34 years old in a 3 back line is not optimal pace wise😂😅.
Testing Ange tactic it have been look promising
Good tips with low aggressive probably have missed it sometimes
What I like to do, when they are in bad form, I 1st go and just inform them about bad form, if next game I bad, I go for 1 week of pay, and I still give him chance. Next game if he is bač, i put him in reserve. They fight against it, but I ignore them for like a week then I take them back. Worked good so far 😊
I totally get it, I started watching Zealand because his voice is a carbon copy of Seth MacFarlane's and I spent way too long wondering if they're related and now I'm just here
I have solved the Haaland problem. He hasn't scored against my Hull team since the first meeting in the prem.
My solution is very simple. I put both my CBs on to mark him. The quick one is set to tight marking, the other isnt. He gets taken off after 60 mins every game, without a goal.
Im a basketball player, so I used the solution I learned as a kid to deal with good players, double team them.
Works pretty much on any team that uses a single Striker, especially effective on rapid strikers.
Does probably require your defenders to have some brains, but I beat City to make the CC final in my 3rd year as Hull manager.
U must be a football manager God to reach the CL final in just 3yrs
I believe CC means Carabao Cup. If not: Holy moly!
@@christianboeckh3449 oohhh okey that makes so much more sense
@@christianboeckh3449Carabao is correct. I got smashed in the final by Liverpool, but I did qualify for Europa League by coming 7th.
Managed to find a wonderkid striker and Baxter is the best 3 star goalie in the world. Has the best goalie stats in the Prem, bonkers.
zealand x bustthenet !!!!!!!
What I would add: doing everything your assistant tells you to do. Most of the time you'll be much better off sticking to your own plan.
Not saying this is the right answer as too many variables.......Yes don't drop loe etc if winning, look at xg & momentum instead......if you have a low block tactic (defend or counter), a medium block tactic & I high block tactic, if there is no scout report for friendlies or the 1st 3 league games.......go to the opp manager & check he is playstyle. I have created this below to cater for my fast players (i like fast players giving a method I created with 3 low blocks, 4 medium blocks & 3 high block scenarios......so utilising all 3 tactics about the same.......please take this with a pinch of salt as quality & other dynamics come into it aswell.......but if you do this your not going to fail miserably;
Catenaccio opponent Vs medium block
Control possession opp Vs high block
Direct counter attack opp Vs low block
Fluid counter attack opp Vs medium block
Geggenpress opp Vs low block
Park the bus opp Vs high block
Route one opp Vs low block
Tika taka opp Vs high block
Vertical tika taka opp Vs medium block
Wing play opp Vs medium block
Bare in mind this works well for me only coz I habe fast players. To me speed is very important. I try to be the fastest team in the league. Every new player I sign for is 1% of the wage bill INITIALLY so I can cover new contract costs of current players if I want to renew. I only ever use pressing or not pressing on their slowest & fastest plauers in opponent instructions and I only mark the main threat (not tightly though) bar goalie & striker on default & my Cbs close down less often. You can still have an aggressive low block tactic if you have the speed in the team. So if people made their own 3 low block 4 med block 3 high block tactic scenario planner dependent on their strengths whether they have fast players or not could help them......or they could alter it slightly to give 4 low block scenarios, or 4 high block scenarios.......for example on the geggenpress you could play medium block or high block instead of low block. ALSO I make new players fight their way into the 1st team even if they have quality......no new player gets put straight into the 1st team no matter how good he is.......fitness, last 5 games, training performance & speed (in that order) dictates who starts & who needs to play reserve games.
Also tweak tactics after each game IF NEEDED so AI don't predict you. Was xg & xga high or low or is everything good? If 2 plauers don't partner up well, change that formation (should also say I play with 3 different formations)......maybe you be become too predictable? Maybe 2 formations have good links but 1 doesnt......so only change that formation where the players have a bad partnership - is it the role, duty or actual formation that needs changing for those 2 players? All 3 of my tactics is more expressive to keep oppoment guessing......i want my players to use their inititive & not be predictable. Change mentality every game IF odds change to keep the opponent guessing also BUT evaluate the match on 9 minutes, 19, 29, 39.......89 minutes making very small changes IF NEEDED. Love your videos from the fox charity cyclist for life.
Collab of the century!
I just got FM23 for free. This video is a godsend
Great vid from 2 of my fav content creators 👍🏼
Holy hell that's a Hyderabad football shirt. Never thought I'd see one outside India.
I played 15 games with a low line defense / low line pressure with a team that should be playing for degradation. I played midtable with this team ! So I don’t think you guys 100% right about not this . Best of all i never lost against the best teams of this competition
7 wins 5 draws 4 losses ! Don’t think this a bad tactic for such teams 🙏🏻
Realized the "oldbies" from the CM era play differently from the FM folks of today? ... FM Newgens? 😅 Anyway, from the CM times, we played Hard Tackling and a low block to try to invoke counter-the-counterattacks. Still played the same way in FM20 (yes, still works a treat, even as a number one club in the world), and always believed in Tip 10 here.
Just keep signing 5* potentials, retrain them if necessary. And as always, the star ratings do work. If your coaches are good enough, the 2* guy that you keep playing (and scoring) would eventually have his stars raised anyway. It's accurate.
Also, yes, have 22+ great players please. After getting a great 11 starting. Tend to substitute performing players (rating 7+, or a hat-trick guy), just to give the sub a chance to impress. And, rotate the squad. So weirdly, I tend to have 20+ players with high average ratings every season. Then again, for example, had used 37 players last season, so ... ha. 😂
Great video, cheers guys
Also if you are doing a new tactic and etc put your training on tactical to help them get used to it quicker
Bust the net is a crazy collab
Common tactic mistake 11: putting Neil Maupay in your team
Imagine actually playing with a higher line of engagement while having a lower defensive line. Teams would pick you apart.
absolutely loved this combo
