This is a valuable addition to my woodwork collection ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO I still will rate this woodwork plan as the best in my reference library. It always seem to stand out from the rest whenever you go through the library. This is a masterpiece.
Hi there all the way from Jordan. I am not a woodworker and don’t think I have the patience to learn at my 48 years. I am, however, a pediatrician who is always on the lookout for relaxing videos to watch as I wind down from a full day in a clinic of screaming children. Although there may be a lot of different woodworking channels, your voice is smooth and relaxing. I wanted to thank you for your art, and to let you know that you’ve helped me forget my daily grind with your voice. Thanks!
Hi there I live in Scotland I’ve been a woodworker for about 30 years I’m 52 now, your awesome love the way you work, love the way you show your mistakes and you don’t pretend to be the best, but anyway you are great and can’t wait to watch more of your stuff, just thought I make a comment, bye for now, Colin🏴
Hi from England. As someone who is incapable of hammering a nail in straight, I’m in awe of talented craftsmen. I like your commentary style and the results are outstanding.
I'm a 67 year old daughter of a lifelong woodworker. I have a bit of a hard time with bow ties, but these two really did look pretty nice! You have a great talent!
Austria. I don't have a question, but I love watching your beautiful work!
Abuja, Nigeria
My housemates think I'm obsessed with your work, cause if I'm not painting or playing games, I'm watching your videos
I'm a painter and I have to work for myself because if I work for other people they get mad at me for spending hours sanding and filling. What I'm trying to say is, I bloody love your channel
It's all in the prep. If you rushed it they would complain about the lack of quality. Good painters are rare.
Finland. I totally loved this video, the table you built is so beautiful! I’m hoping to build something similar in the future for our home, once I’ve gotten a bit more experience in woodworking.
Indiana USA. LOVED IT ALL. This is what I watch when I am tired of TV to relax
Having grown up in the heart of myrtle wood country, it was exciting to see you build with a big slab of myrtle wood. Usually, small items are made from this beautiful wood. I have a myrtle wood bowl that was my Mom's from myrtle wood grown in Coos County since that's where we lived and she worked for the USFS, 30 years and the bowl was a reward for... I'm not sure at this point now. It is such a beautiful wood and so unique. Thank you for making it even more beautiful.
Arkansas. I am very happy for (and jealous of) the person who won this table. What a gorgeous piece of work! "Heirloom quality" is an understatement. Just amazing.
What a delight to watch your videos. Thank you for sharing all your tips. You strike a perfect balance to show the detailed steps, your craftsmanship, and not bore the audience with too long videos. Well done !
New South Wales, Australia. I find your videos so therapeutic to watch and listen to. I turn 40 this year, but when I grow up I wanna be just like you.
Manistee Michigan. I am bipolar and working with wood helps me to stay calm and productive, love your channel.
I just found your channel, love the work you do. Your tables turn out so beautifully, I’m totally impressed. Again, great job!
Yukon! Not even a woodworker but I am an artist, love beautifully figured wood, and really appreciate the aesthetic you bring to your projects. Would love to see more in spalted woods and curly maple.
Irving, Texas... Your low, well-modulated voice, adds to the quality of your product. I'm 86 and back in the day I did some wood working in Portland and Salem. Now, due to the side effects of chemotherapy, I'm restricted to a recliner, but have watched many of your videos. Thanks for helping me through the days and nights.
Hi I'm from New Zealand and I just love the work you do I've never seen tables and desk like you make keep the videos going l will keep watching God Bless
Very nice! I’ve picked up so many tips from you, over time, including sharp short chisels for inlays (bow ties) the use of glue vs epoxy for no dark lines.
Thanks for everything you pass on and share
Virginia! I was keeping a close eye on all the tools you're using. I have a 30 x 30 shop in the works (new build) and hope to be doing this type of woodworking when I retire from the construction industry!
South Carolina USA. Always enjoy watching your work - encourages us all to be more professional. I learned a ot.
As always....love the videos, how thorough you are, and your willingness to share the financial side of your projects
Maybe the prettiest piece of wood I've ever seen. Had to watch till the end for the close in shots. The bowties came out flawless with that technique. Gorgeous.
Beautiful! I love how you did the legs, the installation. Thank you for the tips as well on what to use, what not to use, and why (ex brass)
My pleasure Sharla
Utah- Cam, your videos are always so inspiring and educational. Please don’t ever stop what you are doing!
This thing looks incredible. I look forward to the day that I can build or buy something this gorgeous. It can't be overstated how beautiful walnut can be when properly worked like this.
Thanks for sharing your talents sir. I’m learning a lot.
perfect - who ever bought this unit has a beautiful one of a kind table.
i like coming back to old videos and seeing how your skills have evolved over time
Deux Sevres France. Just found your videoes. I know not your intention, and I know nothing of woodworking, have never even lifted a chisel but watching you work, and seeing such beautiful creations at the end, is so restful. Thanks.
Jefferson, Oregon - I really like your channel, just the right amount of talkie talk and showie show. :) Have a GREAT day!!!
Jefferson! Say hi to Adam and Amanda Nelson for me. I know everyone knows everyone there.
Absolutely beautiful! You are a tru master in craft passion and your care.
Thanks!
Fellow woodworker from upstate SC, just wanted to say how much I enjoy your videos!💪💪💪
Canada always a pleasure to watch you work. Great commentary too. Your work is amazing. I make kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities, but I've been gathering tools to start making other products. You are very inspiring. Keep up the fantastic work
Hi Cam, I just recently subscribed. I'm quite impressed with your woodwork, videos and channel. I started my woodwork journey more than 30 years ago as an apprentice high end joiner (timber windows and doors). In my first 10 years I made several pieces of furniture in my spare time which I'm happy to say are mostly still alive at various family member houses. Then with family growing, leaving joinery (and fully equiped workshop) to carpentry, no more hobby woodworking. Now, over the past few years been studying university and with all the extra time and not using tools everyday my passion for woodworking is reviving, I also have an interest in filming and editing came about with countless hours holding the camera on my skateboarding kids. All the best to you. ps. I like the talking in videos. over the years I have watched many no talking metal/woodwork and craft videos and its a soothing affect yet I never watch anymore videos from the channel, yet I came back to yours and have watched many since.
Alabama, Cam I watch all of your videos all the way to the end, I have no idea how anyone could turn them off in the middle. I usually don't comment, but this table, and why you're doing it, was too important not to say thank you.
Jimmy
I agree, I would never stop halfway through.
Miss. I live close by
Hi, I'm from the UK. I would just like to say what an absolute pleasure of us to watch you work and the running commentary is a bonus. Keep up the beautifully high standard of work. Well done.
Mobile, AL Thank you Cam for such a beautiful table for this great cause. We're blessed having you share you talent with us.
Sorry I missed out placing my donation in this auction. I just subscribed to your channel and boy have I learned a lot about securing cracks with bow ties, the use of epoxy, and CA glue and activator. Thanks
As a boilermaker, which is a very slow trade. I appreciate the time you take with your work. Metal work is extremely slow and so I appreciate this sort of master craftsmanship. I have watched about 15 of your videos in the last few days because covid and I also enjoy your commentary.
God bless you for doing this for Covid relief. Those bow ties were amazing. Great and practical tips! Overall, another masterpiece!
Guwahati, India. The farthest admirer of your woodwork. This table is 'Sehr Gut'.
I love your videos...I dont do any woodworking ,but love to watch. I especially love the fact that you share your knowledge...very generous of you
The contrasting pattern with the bowties was genius.
Texas
The Netherlands, beautiful craftmanship, love the perfect bowties!
Thanks!!
Washington State. Always wonderful to see your dedication to your craft and the beautiful pieces of art you create. I am sure your clients love their pieces from Blacktail Studio!
I Live in Vancouver Washington. OMG, I love this. Everything about it. I love how it pops when you put the finish on it, it makes the bow ties look amazing and all of that wood, grain texture! I am proud of you for always saying yes to the ones that you know you can do and to the Ones that you've never done Nd are probably going to be extremely hard on your mind and body. You still say yes! Great job and thank you sooo much for sharing.
Canadian in London, England. New subscriber and amateur wood worker- thanks so much for sharing your artisanship!
Great video! One of my favorite tables you've made. I really like the live edge you left on the corner. I finally finished my first table thanks to all of you're great videos. I left the live edges but really don't like one of the sides. In general do you think it would look bad if three of the sides were straight cut and one side is live edge?
It's exactly the table he did here! Your question doesn't make any sense ...
Amsterdam, NL, I really love how the edge (back?) of the table is so organic, and that the sides bezel and bevels looks so great. Och, to have a table like this.
Arizona. I love the precision and time you put in to make a perfect product. That’s what true craftsmanship is about. 🤘 keep rockin it
Regarding what chisels to buy, I once took a course at Rosewood Studio outside of Ottawa, Canada and a discussion arose about what type of steel to choose when given the choice for a chisel or plane. We were told harder steels keep an edge much longer than softer steels, of course, but you can get a slightly sharper edge with softer steels and they're easier to sharpen. A comment from someone very experienced was passed onto us; the person said he'd always choose the softer steel because he didn't want to be tempted to use a less than very sharp chisel just because it took too long to sharpen it. I think it was good advice, in part because the more you sharpen blades, the easier and faster it gets so you're much more likely to keep your tools razor sharp.
Cam, I was wondering how big of crack you have to have before you put in a bow-tie vs just epoxy. As always great work! Brazil PS post one video and around the world in 60 minutes!
Altogether a great package you out together... Easy to watch and understand. Very educational.
I am so happy that I found your channel. I am learning so much! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Texas USA, hey Cam, with the design of the leg attachments is the C-channel necessary when the table is assembled or are they a precaution for warp age if the table is left disassembled for periods of time? Thanks for the videos. I am close to starting my own table your information has been so valuable.
Hello from New York. Great video and awesome table. Watching your videos is teaching me so much.
I have the same question, though. What are the purpose of the c channels?
@@mon0828 I had the same question and looked it up. It’s there to keep the wood from warping when it moves.
Montana: Absolutely love this table. I’d love to have one like it in my retirement home. I do have a question, however. Which edge do you prefer: live edge or straight? Or is your feeling about the edge dependent on the slab itself? I’m not a woodworker and possess none of your obvious skills, but it would seem that some slabs lend themselves to a live edge finish and others to a straight edge. I found myself gravitating to the straight edge finished pieces because I like the clean look, but a few of the live edge pieces in your numerous videos have tremendous appeal as well. I guess I am interested in what you tend to favor between the two, if you do favor one over the other. PS: I thoroughly enjoy all your videos…and commentary for us lay people. Great stuff!
You should ask in a new video
North Carolina here. Love the table build Cam. Going to be making my first slab dining table here soon so I have been rewatching your content for all the tips you drop in your videos!
Christchurch, NZ. Stunning table. Great to see you supporting this cause.
Beaverton, OR (do I go the top of the list for being a neighbor lol): My question is this. What are the best places you recommend to get legs? Are they all fabricated by someone you know personally, or do you get them from somewhere?
I added a link to get legs from Flowyline. I know him, but he’s not local.
Okay, I've watched a few dozen of these videos and they're very impressive. However, I absolutely hate, hate, hate looking at those bow ties! Can't you put them on the bottom?
It breaks up the beautiful grain lines and makes the table look like it's been repaired. Perhaps it's my OCD, but if I were going to get a beautiful table like that, I would not want to look at those ugly bow ties. JMO
Cornwall in the UK. What an absolutely gorgeous table. Love your vids and seeing your creations evolve...there is just something about wood that gets me...
One of the things I like about this is the randomness of the wood. Each piece is truly unique.
very nice . What are the C channels for pls?
They help keep the slab flat. Big slab like to wiggle a little bit. This helps prevent that.
@@BlacktailStudio - Florida, USA: Do you think you could have skipped the C channels on this one since the table legs' steel plates bolt across almost the whole width? (Real question, not a nit-pick.)
@@BlacktailStudio Would have been my question too.
Aren't you worried that the table top will buckle? The tabletop is already quite thick and solid.
Or is the humidity of the wood already so optimal?
If it was going right into my dining room, then maybe skip the channels. However it’ll be shipped cross country (potentially). If it were for me, I’d still add em.
@@BlacktailStudio - Oh ya, I forgot about that part!
Really enjoy seeing a slab of wood become a table of beauty. Great work
Cam, watching your older videos. This table is magnificent!
I live in North Wales, in the United kingdom and I thouroly enjoy watching and learning from your video 's.

New Zealand here.
Very nice. Lovely piece of wood, and beautiful work.
Missouri City, TX: I have watched almost all your videos! I take notes and use some of your techniques and the products that you recommend. I build stuff for my own use but, what I have learned from you, helps me get much better results . . . THNX !!
Cam, I am an avid fan of your woodworking videos and want your u to know that of only are they interesting but after each one, I learn something. I especially like the final products and the fact that you express all the pitfalls and accept and reply to all your fans. I’m a 78 year old grandmother who lives in Berkeley Ca, never done or plan to drive word working but don’t want to miss any of your projects. Keep them coming! And thank you for posting.
Ironically; I have covid (very mild), and I'm spending my quarantine watching your videos. Great stuff; you're very easy to listen to and a talented instructor.
The precision is so satisfying! I love the bow ties!

I am in the UK and love doing wood work made a lot of things from pallets but this is really great thank you for a lot of tips enjoy your work and advice thank you again
Been binging your channel lately. I think these bowties are some of your best I've ever seen. I much prefer them when they kind of blend in a little, rather than when they contrast sharply with the table : )
Florida - That was really nice for everybody to chip in on this project. The table looks beautiful.
Beautiful job nothing is more pleasing than a great tradesman thanks phil from Australia
Georgia Thank you for your time and talent. This table is amazing.
Man I love watching your vid brother. While working on some end table slabs or any wood working instead of podcasts I tend to throw this on daily as white noise . Amazing work !!!
