They guy was part of his lfe for 20 years, so cutting him off completly was just stupid attitude by Carmela and her mother, especially as the guy clearly likes Tony very much and it is his party after all.
Two legenedary quotes were born with that hit at the end: Your brother Billy, whatever happened there. and It's sad when they go young like that. or That animal Blundetto, I can't even say his name. etc. :D
This is one of my favorite episodes because this is a wild calm before the storm. Gramps falling off the roof is wild hilarious, exposing Carmella’s moms internalized racism, Carmella and Tony reconnecting. This whole thing is solid. Artie is always a W. He’s the only man who can have a food fight, play Marco Polo, and be a genuine friend. Fun fact: cannon is that Artie was actually the trouble maker because his dad was boring and Tony was the straight man because his old man was a wild hoodlum. I love the chemistry in this episode. What comes next… fuck me bro…
Another classic Phil Leotardo line this episode: "What's the matter Joe? You got an eye problem? You look like Stevie Wonder, your eyes rolling around!" LOL
My grandpa was on the roof of peoples houses fixing things even at 79 , rode the bike home with a ladder mounted(by himself) to it. Scary tough guy! Was a marine in ww2 as well! Hungarian who lived to see the Romanians steal the land and then grew up and saw everything. Sorry for going of topic, great reactions ffr
The actor playing Christopher has written some of my favorite episodes. "From Where to Eternity" the one after Christopher gets shot and he tells Paulie he went to Purgatory and to look out for three o'clock. "Telltale Moozadel" where AJ and friends vandalized the swimming pool at school. And this one "Marco Polo"
Carmelas fathers feels more loyalty towards the man he's known for 20 something years than his own daughter. He conveniently overlooks the fact that Tony has made a fool of his daughter the entire marriage. Hugh is a great character, and he should have been used more during the shows run, but his lack of support for Carmela always rubs me the wrong way.
Her dad is against the divorce & the only way he has the power to show it is at his party. Being married to Carmela’s mom is no picnic I’m sure lol. His beliefs are you suck it up & deal with it. No quitting allowed in marriage.
He may as well just see her hypocrisy. Who Tony, and hist father were was well known. That's why Artie's wife dd not want to me with Tony. Carmella chose to be a mafia wife, taking the blood money, live in a luxury, and accepting his cheating (the girfriends were wll known as a part of the mob life there, with the exceptions of Bobby and Johnny Sack, who trully loved their wives). Sure, Tony is the bad guy there, but first Hugh is a traditionalist - no divorces, you just try to go along, and may also not feel too much sympathy for her complaining as she knew who is she marrying. And his sympathy for Tony? Probably he sees him as a son he did not have, and they always went along. Tony can be a nice guy, and if you do not deal with him on daily basis, that may be your only impression.
I thought the same thing...I had been waiting for this one,...I saw it was uploaded, went to make my breakfast, came back w/ my food to watch and it was gone. 😂
@@dunbardunelm3924 Which woman? The hit by Tony B was revenge for 'lady shylock', forget her name, who was killed by Phil & (bloke who got hit). Tony B killed the woman in the car just bcos she was there, a witness, and he's an evil gangster c*nt.
They were showing his friends many times. First at school, and later on other ones in an episode with the rich girfirend (AJ was so petty to drop her because she was rich, like come on, how insecure you have to be to do that). AJ is a screwup, we've seen that, and we will see much, much more of that till the series ends.
18:09 AJ having a Feech La Manna moment here. Bro the only one not laughing 😂

I agree always respect that type of shit
Hugh is the man
Hot take - Hugh is the only person in the series that loves tony soprano for who truly is. What do you guys think?
@@theramplocalhe loved him like a son-in-law.
nah fuck him he was all in on tonys lifestyle until he wasnt
This episode has season 1 vibes all over it. One of the last feel good with the family episodes of the damn series lol
"I'm not coming if the man of the house isn't there!".
I love that old school respect

Bad and ruin is the song playing when Blundetto was shooting. It’s killer
Nothing more funny than Formal laughing and saying "this nigga..." 😂😂
And "you feel me" 😂
Carmela's dad might be the most likeable person on the entire show.
I love Tony & Hugh’s relationship
The actor playing Hugh crushed it. Seeing his face when Carnela announces how much she loves him. He has a real warmth about him
Another episode written by Michael Imperioli (Christopher Moltisanti), and definitely the best of them imo
GOTTA BRING THAT ENNNNERRRRRGYYYYY!!!! 🔥🤌🏼

My favorite episode of all time. Been to so many parties just like Hugh's growing up in a big Italian family

Has A.J. ever had a friend? A kid with a rich, cool Dad in the Mafia {and a pool} and he has no friends? That should have been a red flag years ago.
Yeah, he had those friends he was hanging with that he took to the pork store and they thought it was a gay strip club lol

Fun fact his “best friend” in the series is played by Paul Dano the kid from “little miss sunshine” and the riddler in “the Batman”
