Also i haven't complained about the screens brightness but i guess i see that it is a dimm screen (the 120hz 45% NTSC screen). My reason of buying it was because all competitors or were ugly af or were about 200 dollars more expensive. There was no option for me to go with the 60hz 100% srgb version but if you can do it if you can use the 50 nits extra brightness or the 100% srgb. There was minimal junk programs but i would remove the program that controles the onscreen viewing of the toggles (like caps lock and numpad). Other than that awesome mechine for €850,- upgrade for €30 extra to 16gb with a cl22 22-22-22-22 module. So my review for now would be AWESOME, nothing that i can think of that could be better at this pricepoint (within The Netherlands) apart from the screen i would have like to get the 60hz 100% srgb version as i have said before but the option was not available for me. what everyone wants in a laptop: Ryzen 4900H with 2080 super max-q and proper cooling like Legion series. every manufacturer: swallow these overprice i9 that we've already bound contracted to sell please. i9 see wallet, i9 go brr..
Also professional design. No matter how amazing the specs are, I will never buy a gamery laptop - I wouldn't be able to use it at work, and at that point why not just buy a desktop?
It should be noted that on the newer versions of this laptop...there is no Kensington lock, which presents a major challenge for people who want to daily drive this machine on the go and maintain a bit of security.
I bought a y740 17' last year and i love it.. Good performance for the cost. Too bad that i cant figure the rgb lights on the keyboard, when it boots all lights show their glory...then the profile kicks in... some keys go bye bye.
It'll be in the Corsair iCue. The default profile is that spinning RGB. You can delete it if you don't want it, and when configuring your own, you have to make sure you select all the keys, which can be a pain
That is pretty awesome. I have been interested in vapor chambers since sapphire started using them on GPUs (like a decade ago now) and its crazy to see how it can actually impact performance even by today's standards. JaZTwoCents put it perfectly, Intel is a platform with mature hardware and processes. Who knows how well the 8-core AMDs will hold up a year or two from now? And this laptop is clearly able to handle the extra TDP, so why not?
You'll hating on Intel because Intel powered laptops provide the best gaming performance. Putting a Ryzen CPU on a top end gaming laptop is just useless. And then there are people who will say "I am paying this much, but no thunderbolt."
These have a small price hike from last years Y740 series, which I own and am very happy with. They also unfortunately nixed the DisplayPort, and you'll pay a real premium to upgrade for the G-Sync display. Otherwise not too much else has changed. The new cooler setup is real nice.

I have the legion 5, i have had it for about 16 days but still, i truly love it! The usb-C supports displayport 1.2 so that's a awesome feature to have 2 video outs. If you have any questiona ask me in the comments!
Edit: yes the amd version ofcourse
Is the one you have currently is the 2020 or 2021 version? So far there were problems around the hinge and if the 2022 one had the problem solved then I would look forward to buy one. @@TheGamingMotionTGM I can't remember but it has been some time over a year so my guess would be that I have the 2020 version. The hinge is still as good as the day I bought it no issues there either. Just overall a very well build and overall a awesome machine!!

It'll be in the Corsair iCue. The default profile is that spinning RGB. You can delete it if you don't want it, and when configuring your own, you have to make sure you select all the keys, which can be a pain
