Oribos - Music & Ambience | World of Warcraft Shadowlands

- Oribos, the Eternal City (also known as the Undying City) is a very ancient city located at the heart of the Shadowlands. The home of the Arbiter, it predates memory and is of unknown construction. It serves as a nexus between the various domains of the Shadowlands and is a gathering point for power brokers, wheelers, dealers, and anima traders. Oribos serves as the central player hub of the Shadowlands.
With the Arbiter having gone mysteriously dormant and with all incoming mortal souls being damned to the Maw, Oribos and its Attendant and Broker inhabitants welcome members of both the Alliance and the Horde to the citadel, but force them to set aside their differences while inside its walls.
Oribos is the arrival point for all souls who enter the Shadowlands. At this crossroads, the dead are judged by the impassive Arbiter before being sent to their final destinations, and Oribos' denizens swap gossip and anima-soulstuff that serves as both power and currency.

I love this city so much, so much both grandiosity and ambience in its score. Makes me want to believe in an afterlife just like it.
and where do you go next? bastion will wipe your memory. maldraxa is still fighting. maybe revendreth, but they drink blood instead of water and they are still immortal. adrenweald is cool, but there are half-stupid teddy bears living there. there are actually creatures from Orbius left, but it is clear that something went wrong with their own world.

I just want to thank you, sincerely. This video helps me relax and calm my anxiety. I know I can always log in and listen to it in WoW, but I rather not have my gaming device on all night. This I can loop and listen to with my headphones on and just relax. The visuals are also calming. I hope you know the good you did for me and may it be repaid to you 10 fold.

Exterior View segment of this video is so frikkin mysterious! It sounds like you are being faced with a very obscure puzzle, the answer is right there in front of you but some sort of veil clouds your judgement. God my imagination is running wild when i hear this!
Just imagine this while playing that part on loop somehow:
You are minding your own business in oribos then suddenly players start phasing out one by one. As soon as you end up completely alone this music kicks in very faintly, a few discrete audio and visual queues guide you to a door that seemingly leads inside the walls of oribos. As you get closer to the door the music gets louder ... you step in, welcomed by a narrow corridor with a set of upwards stairs while the door just vanishes behind you. The corridor is dimly illuminated by strange geometric symbols and constellations, a strange humming running along the walls.
You reach a small chamber at the top of the stairs with an intricately decorated obsidian stone archway in the middle, It is black as the night sky and covered with small crystal dots and weave patterns that glow with a gentle blue light. Above it you notice an apparatus that vaguely resembles an upside down orrery but not of a solar system. Before you could get a better look at the apparatus you are distracted by a stone table to the left, it has 4 scrolls floating above it that appear to be frozen in time. You approach the table trying to see what the scrolls depict, the first one showing a strange combination of hand movements and gestures being performed by what looks like a hooded shape in front of the archway, the rest of the scrolls seem blank. Curiosity getting the better of you, you decide to attempt the instructions on the first scroll. Moving back to the front of the archway you perform the series of strange movements and gestures, as you finish the last gesture you hear the sound of a clock ticking and a shockwave of force passes through you, leaving behind a sensation of...disconnect, like somehow the fabric of reality has "moved on" without this chamber you are currently in. At first you panic, your eyes darting in disbelief around the chamber as the walls disappear revealing only darkness beyond in all directions, all the symbols and constellations which were carved into them slowly drifting into the darkness... but as the sensation passes and you calm down, you take a step back and notice a very faint image within the archway. You can barely make out what looks like another archway identical to the one in front of you on a floating island, the sky is black with hues of purple and dark blue, covered in stars and what appears to be a thin ring of bright light resembling an eclipse.
A sudden sense of urgency washes over you, as if something so grand, beyond your comprehension, is giving you one chance at whatever this is and if you fail you may never understand what this is all about. Snapping out of it you turn towards the table expecting more instructions on the other scrolls, your intuition is correct. The second scroll, previously blank, now depicts the hooded figure yet again, this time rotating what appear to be 4 small ringlike segments on the archway. You approach the archway to replicate the instructions, as your hand touches one of the segments the clock in the background ticks one last time, very loudly, and you hear a voice yelling "No!".
A bright flash of light envelops you and you get teleported back to Oribos, still with no players around, just Tal-Inara standing in front of you...pondering on what has transpired...
"How is this possible? For a living mortal to lay eyes upon the hinge that holds reality together...it cannot be..."
THE END?
And now because of Tal-Inara we'll never know what that archway was or where it was leading to xD

your Bastion video is a work of art, and this one is also very well edited and beautiful, congrats.
I want to like Oribos, because i see that Blizzard listened to the criticism of BFA player hubs: Unlike Dazar'Alor and to a lesser degree Boralus, Oribos is very open-spaced, easy to navigate and everything is organized in a way that makes it easy to find.
However, i dont like the fact that, for a "city" Oribos feels very empty, its color palette is a bit muted for my taste, and it resembles titan architecture, which im sure there's a lore reason for that, but i think we have had enough of titan spaces for a while. I expected something more.. .ghostly or spectral for the capital of the afterlife. Its music and skybox is great at least.
But anyways, great work!!

Let me share some of my knowledge about this city. It's actually not titan architecture. It's much more ancient then that. If you look at the lines, they are much better executed, the geometry is flawless, it's a lot of equilibrium in the space.
Why is that? Because it was made by "The First Ones" (a spoiler here, sorry). They are gone now probably. And as the name implies, they were before the Titans.

Does anyone else get a Michael Giacchino vibe around 7:02? It reminds me of a lot of the kind of soft, tragic yet somehow uplifting themes he does in a lot of his work like in Up and all over the Lost soundtracks.

@@Meisio City?No,Oribos doesn't lock like a city,Did you knew that Oribos should have been only a fly station point betwen the shadowlands zone and Tazavesh to become the main city hub?But was scrapped before the release of the shadowlands beta.
Oribos is pretty disappointing was expecting a massive city stretching off infinitely, not just one tower.

It's pretty small indeed. But it supposed to be minimalist I think. Not something opulent in any case.
Agreed. The music is very nice but it mostly looks like a big place with all of the necessary stuff thrown around, like a flea market. There's nothing fantastic about it. It doesn't strike me as a place you'd call the Eternal City.
Oribos is where you go when you die not live. The beings there are immortal and don't get tired. Make sense its just a tower.
It’s a pit stop before you get send off to the proper covenant by the arbiter. Not really a place to mingle for hours of none sense like back at home. Like they say serve the purpose nothing more.
the music is great, but due to the stain Shadowlands has on the playerbase. Oribos will go down as being tied to the worst expansion to date. Systemlands.
