Great content overall. The Dragondin has an edge against large groups in P1-P5, P5+ a Tesladin with grief and aiming for 72÷ias breakpoint. High AOE DMG and massive single target. I believe your missing the main thing that makes Tesladin great is also the versatility of the build. You can use Enigma while also stacking high physical dmg with Grief or Last Wish.
I have built end game versions of both, i definitely prefer the Tesladin play style.
You should try and Act 1 merc with Faith bow for the fanat aura, COH for all the things (mainly life steal) and Delirium helm for crazy CC with the confuse procs. Since you dont use grief, your mele dmg is nice but not great, but the fanat really makes him shine. Self use conviction, holy fire from gear, and fanat from merc is a really nice combo. Helps blend the fire and mele/zeal dmg making him really shine IMO.

I can clear P8 without much issue with my hybrid FOH / Dragon build, so strong !
Hand of Jusice Phase Blade (because perfect Caduceus with +3 FOH / Holy Bolt is nearly impossible to find), Dragon Archon Plate + Dragon high All Res Vortex Shield, Crown of Ages with 2 perfect Fire Facets (giving a ton of useful mods like FHR / Physical damage reduction % / All Res, etc), Upped Magefist, Upped Verdungo's, Upped Gore Riders, Raven Frost, BK Ring, Mara's Amulet.
Switch : Hand of Blessed Light socketed with Ist / Herald of Zakarum for FoH and precast Holy Shield (+6 Combat Skills total with this pair, total + 8 FoH / + 10 Holy Bolt).
Paladin Torch, Annihilus, Gheed's, Fire Sunder charm, + Combat Skills / Resists / Life charms.
Insight on act 2 Defiance aura Merc.
Skills : Max Holy Bolt / FoH / Resist Fire, high enough Conviction to get -150% Resists after +Skills on gear, 1 points wonders (Holy Shield / Redemption / Charge / Smite / Cleansing...) the rest in either Salvation to boost the Holy Fire synergy from the items aura, or in Zeal.
You charge around, smacking packs with a ton of Fire enhanced damage with Zeal, With high density mobs made of Undead / Demons (especially in Chaos Sanctuary / Worldstone Keep / Tal Rasha's Tombs...), you switch to FoH the hell out of everything. The 2 styles complement each other well. The mobs harder to kill and highly reistant to Holy Fire, you smack with FoH, the rest you blitz with Holy Fire.
It could be tweaked to easily MF P1-4, or gain XP and clear P5-8 as needed. In P8, without much MF, i have 1500+ Life, 27% Physical DR, Overmaxed Resists, 15K Defense with Defiance from Merc / Holy Shield / Upped gear. It takes a bit more Strength though, but it adds to physical damage and Life leech, so...Still at 300 base Vitality at level 96, and I basically don't die. No need for CtA.
You can do 2+2 as well. Dream helm & shield, dragon armour & sword. But you will have no enigma to teleport.
I only have a Dream paladin so far and I'm currently working on the resources for a Dragon.
I must say I'm pretty disapointed by the holy shock AoE and the extra lower rez from Crescent moon makes too little diference, so instead I swaped to Grief and it really transformed the speed I'm killing things in P8.

This was very much my experience also
I finally built my Dragondin yesterday. The Dragon pieces were available to me at Act 1 Hell, and by mid act 2 I was able to equip Hand of Justice. It seems to be significantly better than the Dream Tesladin. I've had a dual dream Tesladin for over a year now. It is my go to Uber slayer. It gets the job done, but I suspect when I get a set of keys and run it with the Dragondin it will get the job done faster. I'm running Grief phase blade on my Tesladin. I have a Crescent Moon PB, but I didn't think that really made enemies die faster. Since I wanted to kill ubers with it Grief was better for me. I also don't have a Flickering Flame on my Dragondin. I've opted for a +2/20 All Res Paladin Circlet instead.
I can confirm Dream Tesladin handles Ubers better than Dragondin. The main reason is the Weapon slot. Tesladin let's you run Grief. For everything else the Dragondin kills faster.
I feel like people don't know this but the aura DMG tick is multiplied by each source. Using holy shock with dual dream is X3 the tick. It's why his auradin is much better. Lvl30 shock X2 vs holy fire X3. My Tesladin with infinity merc and full gear and 5 facets in a +3holy shock scepter gets lvl 1 to 4.6k . Does p8 faster.
Great video, thanks for this. Though i think the tesladin is actually stronger if you use a melee playstyle with that crescent moon. Using zeal, you do massive damage with holy shock boost to melee, plus crushing blow, but that's not even the best part. You'll be constantly proc'ing static field thanks to crescent moon, and this static will also be massively boosted by your minus enemy light resist. You just tear through everything on P8
Also i forgot to add, that since dual dream is less expensive than the holy fire runewords, you can afford to hook up an Act 5 frenzy merc with grief/lastwish/fortitude/cham'd arreats and he will zooming around, basically immortal with the lifetap and might aura, another awesome instrument of destruction
You should bind Charge on the Left Action slot (where your Zeal is) so you can Charge around while having your Conviction Aura up the whole time.
it takes 2 seconds for concivtion to "pop" on monsters so when you are zooming around it has not basically no effect.
There was a bug with ff that only the resis fire aura from ff would count into the synergy and the 20 points invested would be ignored. Is this fixed? I still wear a 3 rbf helmet because of it.
Personally I'm using a 25/15 CoA socketed with facets. BiS helm for dragondin imo

Any Reason why you still play with F1, F2, F3 etc. rather than Q,W,E,R,F,G,H etc.?
Honestly, I've been playing D2 since classic and am just used to using them. I tried switching over a few years back, but it feels weird to me after so many years using F keys.
@@RNGesus_Channel same for me. It did take me a bit of getting used to, but the new Hand position on the Keyboard is just sooo much more comfortable.
I can only recommend to give it a try tho.
I hear ya. I use QWERASDFZXCV for hotkeys and my hand barely moves at all when I play. A lot of the top streamers (like Kano, Sweet Phil, and Dbrunski) still use the F keys surprisingly though.
I think 3x fire facet 5%/+5 in helm would do more then flickering flame for dragon ? You can even put it in some nice tiara , or just 2x facets in CoA
You could definitely run the build that way. I like flickering flame because it counteracts the sunder charm, but it's not make or break either way.
2 faceted coa on pala and FF on merc with CoH. Now you have life leech on merc and the counter to Sunder.
Do you think the dual Dream, Hand of Justice, and Dragon Auradin beats both of these builds? That's the only one I made and wonder which comes out on top still.
I haven't actually done that comparison, but now you have me wondering so i'll give it a go
Full dragondin hits way harder because the holy fire and holy light tick at diff times rather than at same time
I tried both light and fire (with cold on merc), but the pulse damage doesn't overlap so you dont really get the best of both worlds, so went all fire, and used the dream gear on a sorc, which is actually pretty dope (hybrid nova sorc pretty much) and went with act 1 faith merc for my dragondin, which I think is my fav set up atm.
I've also been playing around with the mercenaries, haven't quite found the magic combo yet but I'll keep tinkering and theorising. I'll have a play with the act 1 merc next!
Give it a shot, I think you'll love it like I did. Tried a bunch and this one feels the best. Also depends on how you play and where. I use him for cows and bases and its great CC for that, plus act 1 mercs dont leroy jenkins into packs and die instantly like act 2 does lol.@@RNGesus_Channel

They need that and more. Maybe some auras as well or better base FCR or something...act 3 lacking the love@@Thorazinexxx
I still prefer dream. I play a melee character to actually melee once in a while. Also I recommend A1 cold Merc with a Mist for funzies. Even more big AOE damage.
Dream needs synergies and pure + to skills. Your inventory was lacking on Grand charms IDK what synergies you applied in your skill tree because you didn't display them. On the sorc I can get upwards of 78k DMG on tick depending on what weapon I'm running. I believe the sorc is slightly higher on overall damage though, there's also the fact they can run thunderstorm which is also an auto attack which benefits from the same synergies for holy shock.

Yes but the dream sorc is extremely squishy and the ticks between HS and TS are slow unlike on a dragondin.
Dreamerdin depends on what monsters u are coming to kill lightning immunes CM is BIS now but none lightning ones using Grief or Last Wish is better. You can lean a bit more in the physical damage with the dreamerdin’ than the dragon set up.

Combine both and do the auradin. 2pc's + 2pc's is my favorite spec for this build. Also, doing a holy freeze din is fun too!
Problem is they dont pulse at the same time, it pulses one then the other, so you dont get the best of both worlds, so I swapped to only fire, and use the dream gear on a dream sorc, which is actually more dmg due to lightning mastery!
@@K1LL4Cam I suppose depending on what play style you prefer. But elemental DMG applies to attacks no matter what, and even if the two auras pulse at different times you're still netting the same damage ultimately. It is still my favorite! And if I do sorc I go nova/es all the way!
Dont get me wrong, the tri auradin for me is fun in concept and I did like it but the fire dmg is simply the highest and felt no gameplay difference using one aura over 3 (not counting self cast conviction and merc fanat or whatever else one may use). I love D2R for this reason, so many ways to slice it now and opens up a lot of builds. @@JamesCarian
Now that I think about it, you could stack so many auras. Do act 2 holy freeze merc (1), with infinity (2 conviction), bramble (3 thorns), and cure (4 cleansing) or flickering flame (4 res fire) , dual dream (5 holy shock), hoj and dragon (6 holy fire), self cast fanat (7)
@@K1LL4Cam oh I meant those as two separate builds - like one build with shock/fire, and then separate build with holy freeze.
Long story short the holy fire version is better if we talking AoE. The Holy Shock is better for melee sometimes since it’s higher top end potential. But yea Holy Fire + FOH is better than hammerdin for me

If you switch belt, amulet, gloves and boots you can easily murder dclone. String of ears, high lords, laying hands and goreriders. Then just zeal dclone and he's dead easily
You are missing an merc infinity for the tesladin, I think tesladin is better overall but it is super expensive
I had him out but he died in the pit to some archers, just forgot to revive him

What’s the weapon?
Holy Fire was using Hand of Justice and Dream was using Crescent Moon, both made in Phase Blades
I highly recommend running a CoA with 2 sockets and 5|5 fire facets instead of flickering flame.

Yes if you care about max output well the sorc does about 30% roughly more damage without the synergies. That’s for holy fire or shock (freeze is meh).
holy fire has a better tick but holy shock has a way bigger boost to the attack dmg so if you are purely looking for doing nothing yes holy fire is better but holy shock will hit harder

If you want to improve your AOE you will have to give up conviction and put it on your merc then you keep your dream on and also natively run holy shock and have it on. That gives you 3 ticks just like dragon. Your just slightly not better since the conviction is lower. But it’s better

I have a tele staff on swap and don't want to keep swapping weapons every few min. CTA would be a good call tho, if you can be bothered swapping it around

Idk. Tesladin is great to me. I built crescent moon and then instead of Enigma I run fortitude and run a bunch of flat shocking small charms of storm and it just cock slaps things.
I am one of those that thinks all auradins are overrated - because their performance in +p7 games in single player is not good enough given their "cost". I mean you can do a p8 auradin with facets and such, but why spend all that into a build that still will be outperformed even by a naked hammerdin? I guess it boils down to what you enjoy playing.

Years ago I wanted to play the dragon. One ber one sur after almost 2 years of offline play I realized I'm stuck with the hammers no enigma or anything.
Single player is rough with no access to trades
You need to farm better. For instance make blizzard sorc, and hit LK chests on P8. In 20 hours you should have a couple of Sur runes at least to cube up to Bers. If you want some variation, hit travincal P3. It is hard to get started, but it should only take you like 50 hours of farming to get enigma-which will be a farming game changer for basically every build.
