We recently had a test in my theology class and a kid wrote hairesy instead of heresy so i turned to my bff who also has curly hair and I said "isn't that when people commit hair sins?)
I used to only straighten my bangs too! Like I got them very straight every damn day and then I would be staring at mirrors to be sure it was as straight as possible. And used silicones, heat, normal towel and dry brushed every day. Now I have been silicone, heat, brush etc free for one total month and been using CG method for this total time. I am so happy with my hair now ❤️
When I had a pixie cut, I would straighten my fringe every day because I hated my hair in its natural wavy state. Ended up destroying the wave pattern in my hair and it became permanently straight until I came to my senses and grew it out, which thankfully didn’t take long as the hair was short. Now I never use heat, and have learned to love my wavy hair!
Yaassss the straightening the bangs. Growing up between 2000-2010 was not nice for curly hair people. At least that's how it was where I grew up, straight, sleek and flat hair was the in. Not voluminous curls. Straight bangs was my thing. And now looking back at all my pictures, I cringe because even in college I would straighten my bangs....... thank God for people like you to educate the poor girls like me who had no idea how to handle their curly hair!
Same here! I'm wavy, but it was frowned upon... I remember I used to straighten it or blow dry it straight (but you can imagine the results)... sometimes I would get tired and just leave it like it was... and there came the comment "you look better when you straighten it" 😡 Then, finally I learned to take proper care of my wavy hair and love it.
The part that needs to be washed is your scalp. Because of the oils. When your rinsing it out of your hair, run it though the ends so the ends still get clean xp
Hey, India, I'm 63, so my scalp does not produce a lot of natural oil. So, I do apply conditioner and deep conditioner from roots to ends and a leave in and sometimes a little Argan oil or coconut oil at the ends and it's still dry and frizzy. When I was in my 20's and a virtual oil slick I never put conditioner on my roots for exactly the reason you've stated. Everything changes as we get older, so for us older wavy/curly/coilyies , don't be shy about changing up your routine to match up what's going on with you. If anyone had told me 40 years ago that I'd be putting oils on my hair/face/body I would have laughed, but here I am, jar of coconut oil in hand...
Cyndi Kehrli try this get your hair wet then put leave in conditioner in your hair then a little olive oil on your scalp if you have a heat cap put it on or satin head wrap or just a shower cap will do fine sleep on it wake up and rinse out but not with hot water cool water is much better
middle school days, I would straighten the heck out of my bangs and the little wispy hairs that would frame my face😂 I remember very clearly one time as I was straightening them as per usual, my hair just broke off and got burnt. I think that was the last time I straightened them..
Hey India the back of my hair (especially the top) is always so much straighter and less curly than the front do you know how I could (try) to stop this happening??? 💕💕 that would be SO HELPFUL
B P mine is kinda like that to except the front is straight and the back is curlier. Scrunch extra in the back and apply more product. Also, it might be damaged in the back so make sure you are using no silicones or sulfates!
Is it damaged hair? I think I have a similar problem with my top layer, so I’m going to be deep conditioning at least once a week. Hopefully it looks better in a couple of months. Wavy/curly hair needs a lot of moisture and adequate protein to restore its curl pattern. Hope this helps!
Her hair literally looks the same as mine. I just now realized (after watching a bunch of videos) that I have naturally curly hair. I just thought my hair was naturally wavy and frizzy and there wasn’t anything I could do about it. For years and I mean YEARS I’ve been straightening and damaging my hair because I was too lazy to do anything about it and I had no knowledge of how to love and care for it. I have naturally curly hair (2c/3a) and I never dry brush my hair unless I haven’t washed it in a few days and I need to put it up. (It’s short rn and brushing it makes it a little longer and it makes it easier to put up) My hair is thin and honestly dry brushing doesn’t really make my hair that frizzy?? My curls go away but my hair doesn’t get ridiculously frizzy. Just a little

I used to do 8/10 of these and I didn't understand why my hair looked so frizzy poofy and ugly and it really annoyed me. It got to a point where I couldn't even detangle it and it would look like an ugly messy cloud around my face. Do you believe sometimes I didn't even use conditioner??? And then I layered my hair and noticed a HUGE difference in my hair and from that I discovered the whole curly world :) It really, really changed my life honestly if you have curly hair and it's not layered DO IT!
Never thought I'd feel physical pain watching this... You're amazing, India! But real talk? For the majority of my life, I used just shampoo. JUST SHAMPOO. No conditioner either. So I'd wash once a week with shampoo (Sunday's), nothing else. Dry hair with a cotton towel. Brush it out. Next day was school, so mother would soak my hair in coconut oil and put it in two tight braids, which I rocked till next sunday, topping up the coconut oil every day. No wonder my hair was so dry and dead by the time I went CG. It was like "nope, I don't love you anymore"
Oh, you poor thing! I feel for you! Hugs! I'm the opposite! I do all these things to my hair daily! I have really badly damaged hair! I stopped bleaching my hair 6 months ago trying to grow it long! Now that I have it long, I want curly hair! I thought about getting a perm, but that would damage my hair even more..... Until I came across a curly girl method video and how to take care of it! LOL I used to straighten my bangs in middle school with a curling iron (flatirons didn't exist yet then...) I agree with most of these sins, however, I don't see any problem with gently brushing my hair just before washing. Although I would never want anyone to see me like that, I feel it's much less damaging than trying to detangle my hair wet. Especially when it was waist length!!!

I’m confused about some of the ingredients on hair products I’ve seen curly girls recommend. Most of the Shea moisture line lists sulfates but claims to be sulfate free. Also the As I Am co wash lists alcohol. Please help and explain! I’m just getting started and trying to figure this out. Thanks

I love that Maui Moisture spray you used! It really does smell AMAZING. I don't use it as heat protectant (because I don't use heat) it's just a really nice moisturizing spray, and I think it voluminizes my hair a bit too...
Hey! I have a question about hair shrinkage. I know, this has nothing to do with the video. So I have super curly hair, and my hair shrinks about half its length when it's dry from a shower. Why is it that some girls with very curly hair can grow their curly hair super long and others like me can't?
@@TheBingleichwiederda It's taken me like 6 years! And my curly hair never fails to shrink up to the shoulders! But when it's soaking wet, it's just a few inches away from my waist! I guess my hair would have to be down to my knees for it to shrink to my waist! Lol

Oh, you poor thing! I feel for you! Hugs! I'm the opposite! I do all these things to my hair daily! I have really badly damaged hair! I stopped bleaching my hair 6 months ago trying to grow it long! Now that I have it long, I want curly hair! I thought about getting a perm, but that would damage my hair even more..... Until I came across a curly girl method video and how to take care of it! I'm still brushing my hair but only in the shower after I condition it! I just started and still learning! Thank you for making this video and showing me everything I'm doing wrong! I really appreciate it!

OMG I do basically all of this exept the conditioner on the roots and shampoo on the ends... Now it makes so much sense to why my hair gets so freaking frizzy after showers!

LOL I used to straighten my bangs in middle school with a curling iron (flatirons didn't exist yet then...) I agree with most of these sins, however, I don't see any problem with gently brushing my hair just before washing. Although I would never want anyone to see me like that, I feel it's much less damaging than trying to detangle my hair wet. Especially when it was waist length!!!

I’m confused about some of the ingredients on hair products I’ve seen curly girls recommend. Most of the Shea moisture line lists sulfates but claims to be sulfate free. Also the As I Am co wash lists alcohol. Please help and explain! I’m just getting started and trying to figure this out. Thanks

I love that Maui Moisture spray you used! It really does smell AMAZING. I don't use it as heat protectant (because I don't use heat) it's just a really nice moisturizing spray, and I think it voluminizes my hair a bit too...

Hey! I have a question about hair shrinkage. I know, this has nothing to do with the video. So I have super curly hair, and my hair shrinks about half its length when it's dry from a shower. Why is it that some girls with very curly hair can grow their curly hair super long and others like me can't?

@@TheBingleichwiederda It's taken me like 6 years! And my curly hair never fails to shrink up to the shoulders! But when it's soaking wet, it's just a few inches away from my waist! I guess my hair would have to be down to my knees for it to shrink to my waist! Lol
