Hey hackfreehvac, thanks for sharing your video and thanks to all the feedback from other watchers. I'm an industrial rep for Loctite. I thought I'd clarify some details for you. 567 is an anaerobic sealant. It cures when the air is removed from the sealant and is trapped between metal threads. Leak Lock is a solvent based pipe dope. So it is designed to dry due to solvent evaporation where as 567 cures. This means Leak Lock can shrink due to solvent evaporation and dries very hard. 567 does not shrink and when cured stays flexible. Any excess 567 in a joint will not cure as it will exposed to air. So you can just wipe it off. The 567 in the threads will cure. One other key note is cure speed. On brass or steel 567 will cure quickly. On stainless it will cure slowly. We sell a primer to kick the cure. It's called SF 7649. It comes in an aerosol can. You spray it on and then let it dry. Then apply 567. Someone mentioned 554 below. That was designed for older refrigerants that are Freon based. 567 is compatible with NUVA, SUVA and the most common refrigerants. We make roughly 14 different versions of this stuff but 567 is a top seller. Thanks for posting. Cheers.

We use Loctite 567 at work exclusively. It seals every time. Bits of it exposed to air really don't get hard, but it seems to harden up inside the threads. Fittings bigger than 1 1/2" almost always require heat to remove after you use it.

That's what I use for Mitsubishi flair nut threads. (Threads only)

If you get a chance try the 554 and see what you think. Its designed for refrigerant.

567 is easy to disassemble. 577 seals and locks the threads. 577 would probably suit you better.

Run 567 for high temp steam, works every time. Can assure you that it does set but only to a crumbly putty like consistency.

I have been using Loctite 567 for years. It seals great, and never gets hard like leak lock does.

Did it leak? Im here from the future and i tried nylog with teflon and it leaked. Then i tried leak lock and it leaked. Then i tried leak lock and let it dry a bit before putting it together. Its not leaking right now, but i dont feel good about it

I love that stuff. It never hardens.

Hey man how about an update? I have a leaky r410a split system that I can't get to stop leaking. Did that sealant hold up?

This sealant is for threaded fittings.
      So far so good.

@@hackfreehvac I'm gonna go back to a unit I installed just a couple of months ago! The flares keep backing out since I mounted the unit on a wall mount stand. (First mistake) I'm gonna try a pressure test after I nylog the flare cones and then I will use this stuff on the threads. Fingers crossed, just trying to keep them cool for the next couple of months and then I will probably put it on a stand to eliminate the vibration factor. Thanks for the reply bro

You should try that if you can't get it to seal. Video starts at 3:27

      That's pretty interesting.
Except that was a flare fitting and I'm sealing pipes threads.
