- Today I talk about sealing threaded NPT air suspension fittings and how to seal them using Loctite for a nice show look over using teflon tape. Hope this helps some of you designing custom show trunk setups. Enjoy and dont forget to subcribe and setup notifications to know about new upcoming videos. I record videos on the regular.

Also where is the best place to get the 545 Loctite. ? I’m really excited about re-modifying the whole system in my pick up truck I love loud air horns and I don’t like to have to continue to run the air compressors for five of them keep the air pressure up. I am a truck driver I transport jet fuel for the last 20 years in Phoenix Arizona and it seems like every time I turn around my Mack truck is always leaking air pressure
I have a dual air pressure gauge in my pick up truck one needle in the gauge measures the air pressure that’s going to the air horns and the other needle in the same air pressure gauge measures the amount of air pressure that’s being pushed to the air horn which I can regulate in walking to find out if I use this 545 and if I have to take something apart it does come apart after installing the brass fittings together two pieces of brass using 545 Loctite is it something that can be undone if I have to change a fitting ???? My system goes all the way up to 250 psi it takes under 45 seconds to go all the way up to 250 psi with five air compressors.
No idea tbh. I just search online when the bottle runs out. Many places have it on sale. If I see it I grab it. Hope that helps :)
I’m putting together an air pressure system one tank five air compressors my air system goes all the way up to 250 psi but I regulate 125 psi to my air horn if I use the 545 and for some reason later I decide to change it can I take it out the brass fitting or is it permanently locked into the fittings ????? Thanks I have about $2600 worth of equipment in my toolbox with my 2022 Nissan frontier pick up truck one tank five air compressors I can pump it all the way up to 250 psi I just want to make sure that if I use 545 if I have to disassemble something I can do that or is 545 permanent ????
545 is a thread sealer. 250PSI in your tank. I'm not entirely sure what 545 is rated for. So yes you can remove the fitting with 545. You're sealing it not welding it.
I think I may have done what you say I shouldn't do, I may have over tightened the fitting in the valve box, I thought I was being careful but apparently not. careful enough, it spins when I try to tighten, not getting any tighter. This is on a BMW x5 air suspension, now I have a slow leak on one side. Do you think the loctite will work or should I replace the valve unit? the fitting is brass and the hose, I believe, is nylon.
What valve unit is it as not all valve units are the same. Pay close attention to what the thread pitch of your specific unit is so you use the correct fittings. What brand is your management?
@@squeakycleanair Not sure I am answering your question the best way, The unit is a AMK which is BMW OEM. There is a solenoid valve which controls left and right side that the two fittings goes into. It is made of some sort of plastic.
@@tomladdus9264 ohh I see. Oem air is a little bit different.
Thanks for the video! Quick and informative. Could you use plumber's tape as well as the loctite? Or is loctite really sufficient enough? Thanks in advance!
Anytime. Thanks for watching. Either or. While anything is doable both might be overkill. If you're trying to reinforce a fitting with previous goop applied with tape, its always better to clean original goop to bare thread and apply sufficient amount of tape or goop alone. Mixing isnt advisable. You want to avoid too much sealent as that might crack your threads or medium youre threading into due to too much pressure and port expansion.
@@squeakycleanair that makes sense. Thanks again for the awesome insight into the process! 🙏

Personally I’m thinking about using the 545 I have a 2022 Nissan frontier crew cab with a toolbox in the bed of the pick up truck with five air compressors and one antique it takes 28 seconds to have 250 PSI. I only shoot 125 pounds of pressure to my air horns that are in the grill
What type of fittings your using for hardlines? Or where can i get the fittings? Thank you.
Hi. Lots of options out there. I like to use swaglok stuff.
I guess Loctite 545 would be the stuff to use to seal fittings on an air compressor like what you get at a hardware store?
That or any yellow or pink seal tape.
Would 242 loctite suffice?
Is permatex ok
Or does loctite have some special thing you prefer
Hey, does permarex offer the same product? I'm not familiar. I'd reccomend to use what I used in the video. Let me know if Permatex has a similar product.
@@squeakycleanair yeah.
Its pneumatic/hydraulic sealent.
I just have a discount for it.
Only reason im going for it.
Ordered a airbag kit im about to build up
@@mr.b3168 got a link?
I just use Harbor Freight's blue/medium strength on all the air fittings on my garage compressor and lines.
