On "My Car Story" we're in the Suburbs of Chicago IL on 5-11-19.
We're looking at a 1957 Chrysler New Yorker Convertible in Turquois Paint. The car features the factory 392 CI Hemi V8 engine.
The car's Owner is Frank Troost. Frank’s had this car since 2017. Frank shares the history of this former museum piece.
Just amazing!
ENJOY! - Авто та транспорт
Wow. Nothing like a late 50's Chrysler product. I love them. My favorite era of Chrysler.
Hi Big Charlie's Model Garage, Glad to receive a "Wow" from you :-) Lou
Coming off the TOO advanced, but beautiful 30's Airflows, Chrysler withdrew almost out of existence to the 3 box look. With all the issues Chrysler has had, almost dying so many times, the 57-60 are really the only chrysler's that really matter outside the musclecars.
Frank is clearly a great guy and has quite the collection of awesome Chryslers. This droptop New Yorker is beautiful in green and the spear running down either side of car really looks sharp. Bravo Lou, another winner, thanks so much enjoyed your video with Frank. 👍👍
Hi Bruce H., Happy to read you enjoy Frank and his Collection :-) My pleasure sharing this Winner with you. You're welcome, Lou
Lou I just love it when u feature a car owned by Frank. They are amazing and I could listen to Frank all day!
Thank you again!
Hi Bob Bob, Happy to read you enjoy the episodes with Frank :-) My pleasure sharing this one with you, and you're welcome, Lou
My God, what an incredible masterpiece. It is MINT perfect and owned by an expert who knows his Chryslers. LOOK at the others in his collection.
Hi gary whitehead, High praise for this car :-) Stay tuned, there will be more from the collection, Lou
When I was 15 or so, my neighbor and his wife seemed to go from one of these cars to another. They were newlyweds, and he seemed to find them. Driver's setback higher than the rest, and rearview mirrors on stalks. Crazy.
Sounds like good memories from your teenage years :-)
Wow! That car is wonderful. Good things came in 1957 (like me!). Frank has a lot of interesting Chrysler vehicles in the background.
Thanks for sharing your car, Frank! Thank you to the 'Lou Crew' for showing it to us!
Hi Mike YQR, High praise :-) Glad to read you and this car both have the same birth year. Every one of Frank's cars is already on the Channel for you to enjoy. You're welcome, Lou
An outstanding example of mid-century automotive art! Plus, it’s a convertible to boot. Awesome find Lou!!
Hi Rusty, High praise :-) Glad you enjoy this car. Lou
Yet another awesome gem from Frank! This car was Virgil Exner at his very best, and just one example of many of why people reflect so fondly of 1957! Love that gorgeous turquoise shade! As for those five that Frank says are exactly like it, well, you know what they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
Hi iswc27, Happy to share this "Awesome Gem" of Franks with you :-) Lou
Thanks for bringing this emerald beauty to the world.
Glad to read you enjoy this car :-)
Gorgeous! Of all my Dad's cars his Imperials and New Yorker were my favrs. He loved a big luxury sedan.
Hi Tressa, Dad has great taste in luxury cars :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Frank has an incredibly beauuuutiful Car Collection!💕
I agree.
I love how Lou lets the owner talk while showing off the car. Great blend of interview and visual showcase! * finally subscribed *
Welcome to the Channel :-)
It is not a car-it is piece of art!😀👍
Well said :-)
my favorite generation of chrysler....make this one my friday night cruiser
A good one for sure :-)
Wow the original 392 hemi!!! Beautiful ride Lou! She is art on wheels
Hi zo maq, Happy to receive a "Wow" from you :-) Lou
Oh the Holly Grail of Chrysler’s, and it has the perfect turquoise. 😱 I will have a garage just like his, he has quite the collection.
Hi Andy Atom Ant, High praise :-) Hope you're behind the wheel of one like this soon, Lou
WAOW...I LIKE PASTELS ALSO
1957. ....A PURE BEAUTY
"A PURE BEAUTY" :-)
I used to ride to school everyday in a 58 Plymouth for years. The exhaust sound was similar. And the exhaust smell when it was warming up... Ahhhhh.
Hi JeffFrmJoisey , Happy to read this car brings back memories of the car you used to ride to school in :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
AMAZING STORY .
Happy to read this story is "AMAZING" :-)
Love all of the beautiful ornamentation on these cars, which is non-existent today.
Hi shedjammer, I think you're on the right UA-cam Channel for the cars you like :-) Lou
Thanks Frank and Lou, that is a fine car with a very amusing story to go along with it. I will be watching until the whole garage tour is complete.

What a sweet ride! Bling, bling indeed!
Happy to read you enjoy this one MisterMasterShafter1
WOW indeed ! From that huge toothy smirk to the long sweeping fins , it is a stunningly stylish car , the epitome of 50's class !
Hi Derrick Rees, Happy to read the details you enjoy on this car :-) Lou
Wow - surprisingly impressive car.
Great video as usual Lou. Thank you!
Jeff
Hi Jeff, Glad you enjoy this impressive car :-) Lou
The New Yorker was very underrated luxury car, i had a carmel tan 1977, it was like driving a yacht, as far as comfort and luxury...
Hi Mo Garcia, Thank you for viewing and sharing details of your 1977 :-) Lou
Mo Garcia The ‘74-‘75 Imperial and ‘76-‘78 New Yorker (same car) were wonderful road going cars. Lots of torque and (for the era) horsepower, smooth and good handling, and quiet. Really wonderful. (Except the arm rests were too narrow! Never understood why they did that.)
@@garysandiego yea and the highway with the cruise control it was almost like automatic pilot, but i remember had a safety feature that if wipers were in use, the cruise would not engage. Got great gas mileage on highway. Back seat was line a button tuck sofa very plush leather.
Don't think the New Yorker was underrated. I always thought it was well respected and had a long heritage dating back to the 1930s. Not only that many times it was the only option for a station wagon in the near luxury class. There was never an Olds Ninety Eight wagon. For many ears until 78 or 79 Buick Electra did not offer a wagon for regular production.
Beautiful colour and coordination of upholstery..

My grandparents had a 1957 New Yorker 4 door. Very beautiful car.
Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Grandparents car :-)
Thank you Lou for sharing this gem.
You're welcome duradim1 :-)
Those soaring fins are unmatched, terminating with upright huge red taillight lenses. Stylists were in charge!!
Hi Steve, Thank you for viewing and sharing the details you enjoy :-) Lou
I wish they were in authority now....
A car shunted me at a t junction once...i was in an Austin Cambridge and a similar car was behind...
I got out to have a look and my car was untouched but his had two circles hanging...the headlamps fell out because of rust..
THANK you so much, that is art! a gorgeous creation

Hey Joe, I'm getting an education all the time :-) You're welcome, and glad you're along for the ride, Lou
Another priceless jewel!
What a beauty.
Glad to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-)
Another amazing automobile that America produced in the 50's. As wonderful as the '57 BelAir is, this is another category!
High praise :-)
Great looking car the chrome work & everything is perfection. Great thumbs up.
High praise for this car :-)
No 57 Chevy I've seen compares to that . Thanks for posting .
Hi Bud Lee, High praise :-) Lou
Bud Lee
In all fairness your comparing apples to oranges but a drop dead high end 57’ Chevy is beautiful next to anything but the New Yorker is a step up maybe two
A majestic, Mopar missile. Performance and beauty and luxury all encompassed in one beautiful, iconic vehicle.
Hi James, Happy to read you enjoy this "Mopar missile" :-) Lou
Lou there are just no words that can express how gorgeous this car is! My lord my folks when I was a kid had a 1958 Chrysler and it was the berries. This car is just a show piece and a huge part of history for Chrysler products. He sure has nice vehicles as I have seen a few of them through your page Lou. I still wanna see that 1970 Plymouth Sport Suburban wagon he has sitting back there saw it before Lou can't wait for you to film that one cause that looks like a gorgeous time piece too plus I love wagons a lot and you do not show too many of them. Tape his Plymouth wagon Lou!! As always Lou another great video and a awesome owner! Thanks Lou this Indian Turqouis Is gorgeous!!
Hi Steve Flad, High praise :-) I'll do my best to add the Wagon on an upcoming episode, Lou
Lots of style, and lot of car, thanks for sharing Frank.
Glad to read you enjoy this one :-)
what a knockout car. Owner a super nice guy too. Many thanks Lou!!
Hi D Wnright, Glad you read this car is a "knockout" :-) You're welcome, Lou
American pride shines all the way through this great classic.
Wonderful :-)
Beautiful inside and out. Thanks Lou and Frank. 1958 was the last year for the 392 hemi.
Hi FUBAR Model Yard, Glad to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) You're welcome, Lou
Yes it was but the 1959 Imperials had several with the 392's while the new base engine would be the 413. All of the Ghia imperials Limo's had the 392 and a few basic Imperials.
I was 13 yrs old when this model was new, and I thought it was gorgeous!
Hi Vivian S, Happy to read this car brings back memories :-) Lou
Wow, stunning paintjob.....love it!
High praise :-)
That beautiful interior upholstery with the metallic green and silver piping...sensational. Pity about some of the obvious dirt traps under the fenders that rusted right out after three years...but overall this car is automotive sculpture.
Mike Vale I agree the interior upholstery Might be the best thing on the car.
Hi Mike Vale, High praise :-) Lou
My first reaction was that is stunning, and great video Lou, thanks for sharing
Hi acts2211, Appreciate your kind words :-) Glad you're along for the ride, Lou
If that car was taken to Europe or England....everyone that sees it on the road would assume it's an Amercian car....just like a 59 Cadillac or 1970 Superbird.
That’s a beauty. My father bought a used 57 New Yorker in 1965. It was pink with a white top. He would always talk about how fast it was. My ma made him get rid of it because he kept burning transmissions. He blamed the “crazy” push buttons LOL.
Hi Joe P, Happy to read this car / video brings back memories of your Fathers 57 New Yorker :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Awesome Lou & Frank《☆》It's big, beautiful & has that Chrysler fired Hemi🤓☻🤠
Hi BDOG JR, Happy to read you enjoy this big beauty :-) Lou
One of the best looking cars i have ever seen ////////////////////////////// Down right beautiful car ///////////////
Hi Kip, High praise for the looks of this car :-) Lou
The 57-58 Imperial also had the same push-button starter, it's really cool in my opinion.
Hi P András, Thank you for viewing and sharing your thoughts. Hope you see many more cars on this UA-cam Channel you enjoy. Please subscribe, and hit the "bell" so you can see all the cars when they are uploaded on this UA-cam Channel, Lou
What an amazing car ! Another great job! Only thing I would say regarding the filming is maybe less time in the trunks of cars more getting the exterior and interior details.
Hi L P, Glad to read you enjoy this car and consider the car "amazing" :-) I'll only spend as much time in the trunk based on how much "goodie" the Care Taker has, Lou
Power windows and Power seats...very impressive for 1957 indeed!...Great video Lou, for lovers of all things 50s...keep up the great work Lou!
Hi daniel lack, Thank you for viewing and sharing the details you enjoy :-) Appreciate the kind words, Lou
Looks like it has factory air also...with the dash mounted ducts. Very rare option in the 50’s!
Great find, Great video, thanks
Hi W Scott, Thank you for viewing and sharing this wonderful comment on the car & video :-) You're welcome, Lou
It's not a 394 Hemi but a 392 cu. in. Hemi. The 1958 Chrysler was the last year for this engine, not '57 with the exception of the '59 Imperial.
Hi peter karbowski, Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge, Lou
They phased it out for the 413 which was cheaper to manufacture and had similar horsepower.
What a garage this guy.
Good garage for sure.
Lou - I'm going to adopt Frank. Yes I know how that sounds, but he owns Chryslers ( & he knows you), so he's got to be a stand-up guy. I cannot lie - every time I hear or see a '50's Chrysler, I hear #RockAroundtheClock in my head. Thanks for sharing, Mr. Troost - & thanks for posting this, Lou!
Hi chemxfan, That's an awesome comment :-) You're welcome, Lou
The quad headlamps were a 1957 option, across Chrysler, and became standard in 1958.
The quad headlamps were also available on a number of 1957 AMC, Ford and General Motors cars.
Hi Jerry, Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Hi Lou hope you're keeping well What a Spectacular Looking Car love everything about this Absolutely Stunning looking car' best Wishes and thanks for the Video
HI Stephen Smart, When I'm around cars, I'm having a blast :-) How are you? Glad to read you enjoy the looks of this car, and I agree, a spectacular car. Best wishes received, wishing you well also, and you're welcome for the video, Lou
LOU , THE ULTIMATE. CRUISER
Andrew, A fine car for sure :-)
No wonder there were about 2 decades where people just couldn’t wait until the new models came out. I can completely understand that now after seeing so many incredible cars from the 1950’s and 60’s. Those were very special decades in so many ways. The cars are just a reflection of the enthusiasm people felt for just being alive. Hard to believe that while car manufacturers were making such unbelievable cars, we were watching black and white tv’s with 2 channels (where I lived) to choose from. Now the tv’s are incredible and the cars are dull.

Hi Lou, that is a great looking car, very smooth, lots of unabashed style and elegance.
Hi Terri Bel Bliss, Glad to read the details you enjoy about this car :-) Lou
such a wonderful car, amazing
High praise :-)
Just watched this one again , just reminded me how auto makers back then had the confidence to paint cars in more colors than red, black, white and silver.
Cheers Steve
Hi Steven Carboni, Happy to read you appreciate this car :-) Lou
She’s a beauty!
Hi Robert Phillips, Happy to read you appreciate the looks of this car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing. Lou
What a great car Lou!! I regard the 1957 Chrysler New Yorker & 300C as the most spectacular American cars ever made!! And this example would have to be right at the top, as it's the best color offered!! Thanks for posting!! Cheers Tiger.
Hi Tiger, High praise :-) You're welcome, Lou
Winner Lou! Beautiful!
Nice Joseph :-)
Amazing ride Lou
Hi Jonathan, You have great taste in cars :-) Happy to read you enjoy this "amazing ride", Lou
I know
I have the Franklin Mint model of this too, but I think the interior is a different color. My sister failed her license test three times and was supposed wait a year. Four weeks later she got her application to get her picture license. So she went and got the license without passing the drivers test. To this date I have a hard time riding with her.
Hi Terri Bel Bliss, Interesting story about your Sister. Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Thanks Lou
You're welcome David :-)
American Art Masterpiece.

@@loucostabile I have to give you credit for the work you do to bring interesting features as frequently as you do. I have noticed how much you have learned about cars in the course of you presenting them for your audience. Thank you for searching out interesting vehicles and presenting them.
I'm working my way through the videos of Frank's Collection you've done. What a fabulous collection! And a real nice fella! Thanks Lou! 👀🏳️🌈
Hi Bryan, Happy to read you're enjoying Frank and his cars :-) My pleasure sharing them with you. You're welcome, Lou P.S. stay tuned, I'll have one more of his cars in the future :-)
@@loucostabile Looking forward to it Lou!
"Ach du lieber, mein schatz"! I "lust" for COLOR!!! This color is one of the most gorgeous I've ever seen! BUT, although it might be called "Indian Turquoise", it surely is a "cream GREEN"! In 1957 I was 17 & didn't have a drivers license yet. And I never "dream lusted" over such a car as this, as it would have been out of my price class even if I could have been able to drive & been able to buy a car!! And those wonderful WHITEWALLS really helped a lot to bring out the beauty of the green color!! Talk about your "beauty queens", this car is truly a "raving beauty"!!!!! "Gesundheit" & pass the color wheel poleaze!
Hi Mr. Thickey, High praise for the color of this car :-) Hope you see many more cars you'll enjoy on this UA-cam Channel, Lou

What a beautiful car! Imagine it sitting in a dealership in 1957! I want one!!
Hi John May, That would be fun walking around the Dealership in 1957 :-) Lou
@@loucostabile Hi Lou, yeah wouldn't it. More fun than walking around a current dealership. Betcha the salesmen would be the same though😀
Lou beautiful car, and love ❤️ the color also very different
Hi Carlton Dobbs, A winner for sure :-) Lou
Wow is right! bling bling! Exner excellence!

Lou: You did a good job as you usually do! What an excess of styling!
Hi Jed, Glad you like this over the top styled car :-) Lou
Nice beautiful car lou just gourgues paint everything 😍😍😍😎😎😎
Hi Aaron Garza, High praise :-) Lou
This car is exactly like my 1957 Chrysler CONVERTIBLE COUPE`. Same color, Interior etc.I bought the car in United Dtates back in early1987. With the powerful 392 HEMI / 345 hp it blowed the doors of the BMW`s and scared the hell of other cars. Motorized Dynanite. I sold the car many years ago, after a total restoration. One of the most stupid thing I have done. - Hopefully I will buy it back some day..The New Yorker was a blast to drive as most other Mopars was at this time. LOVE IT
Hi Ole Andreas Jensen, Happy to read this car brings memories back of your 1957 Chrysler :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing the details, Lou
👍Sweet convertible! Would love to drive this beauty and float down the road.
*(Sir Frank sounds like Alan Alda) 😂✌️
Hi Major Payne, Agreed, this would be nice to float to your destination :-) Lou
Wow! Look at that! Sweet looking 1955 Chrysler New Yorker convertible. I've seen my share of 50s Chryslers over the years, but never this nice. :)
Hey Jason, Glad to receive a "Wow!" from you :-) Lou

Great car and great color!
Win / Win :-)
My dad bought a tan 1958 Chrysler Windsor new. His first new car i believe. It came along about 5 years after i did. New additions to the family. Not sure what engine was leading that Torqueflite in dad's as i was pretty young at the time. One thing i do know about them is they are RARE!

Nice !
Awesome car!
Happy to read "Awesome car!" :-)
A "wow" car for sure!
High praise :-)
126" wheelbase is really something.
Just think, the 66' 7 Litre Galaxie 500 was a whopping 119' and the 66' Pontiac GTO only 116'.
Somehow the 116' wheelbase car became the muscle car definition.
Hi Johnnyc drums, Thanks for sharing what you notice, Lou
