Another example of the diverse duties of Law Enforcement.
Prescott 60s was wet. And North of Lamb Chevrolet at the corner of the fairgrounds some of that property north and west of the horse sheds at the racetrack was getting a little flooded . But City Councilman Patrick had a jeep and a Chevy truck and phone calls from residents that had to be at Fort Whipple the old cavalry Post is a VA ... And Gus Patrick was the guy to call ... He was the dog catcher to start ... And he mentioned Prescott didn't need a City Manager and became the hit of conservative society and his heroic deeds and almost getting killed at the 67 fireworks explosion he rode his way into city councilman .. The Korean war vet was common sense practicality in yer back pocket .. Don't fuss don't cuss just call Gus. So he ferried necessary personal and was just there for anyone applying. He went in a very gruesome and spectacular manner ... He was chasing mr.big as someone was always throwing monkey wrenches into solid plans. He delivered a speech...at council 300 people... He was wearing a completely un squared away shirt. A Hawaiian over the pants. Gus always had a white t shirt and collared shirt set to.mitary alignment as every man in Yavapai county.. but it covered a 38 snub nose . Give me liberty or give me death for 10 minutes and then knowing his family was all out of town.... Pulled it out and shot himself... He had lived in the original Palace Bar owners house . His son and I dug out the basement years earlier and found a case of 1800s beer stamped Prescott bottling and of course the tunnels that went East below the Methodist church and under the governor's mansion and below Granite Creek and straight into the Palace Bar. The two original houses he built both an ungodly blue with thousands of old bottles in the window... Then tens of thousands of Prescott Antiques on store shelves in a garage next door to fish and games Carl Jones garage . Well his roof hadn't caved in and these were original stables .. beneath our feet at the back lot of Lincoln School on Park Ave. is an ancient Indian burial ground extending from the Methodist Church parking lot to the two houses and the bus turn around behind the school S.S.E. No one in Prescott knows where Gus Patrick is buried... There used to be an iron grate around a couple trees in the Methodist Parking Lot .. His son and I porwd the remains over the tree... They then paved it all over and that is where Gus Patrick is buried in Prescott Arizona . When they wrecked the house they saved the one Officer Reed was living in and Fisher House Movers put it out past Forbeign Park behind there house out by Iron Springs and people were eating pancakes there er sumthin.. There's a junior out there . Out of the marines .. good man ... Used to quote him Tolkien till he was asleep ... When I get my Yavapai Voters thingy I just write in Gus Patrick ...
