Oh this idea of seagulls is absolutely brilliant! And the Celtic story playing in your head as you create it is so magical ❤. Thank you for sharing your creativity!

I love the scrappy gulls. I would never have thought of putting the birds on to the image. It makes it look a bit like fields ready for harvest.

Working intuitively and incorporating the Irish folklore go hand in hand. What a great story and what a beautiful piece it will be.

Wow, I didn't see seagulls coming but what a great inspiration. I like your comment about a birdwatcher might not think they look like seagulls but you don't care! A story for you: Years ago I did a weekend getaway on quilting and at the Saturday night dinner had the luck to be sitting next to the keynote speaker. Everyone at the table (about 10) was complimentary of her work etc but when she wasn't at the table and was speaking some of her quilts were passed around for us to all to have a closer look. The others on the table were so critical of her uneven stitches and pieces etc (they were obviously die-hard quilters). I became good friends with the quilter and her work has gone from strength to strength she has won awards and been invited to many exhibitions overseas to show her work and give talks etc. I love her freedom from the quilting norms and her works of art. She often takes inspiration from artists and not quilters. So kudos to you for going with your conceptual artistic decisions and not caring what die-hards think. Way to go Emma. Can't wait to see your birds on your piece soon. Loving watching you work.

that's a great story, love it! and thank you, it can be a bit scary stepping off the track, but I encourage everyone just to be free...art is so personal isn't it, and really about expressing yourself. I love the touch about uneven stitches...so me when I started, which I did with quilting! Thanks for the inspirationxx
