Wise and brave words. Emma! I've been struggling with a view of Lingmore Fell for a year now. I'm not enjoying it and keep putting it away then dreading to get it out again! Like you I tend not to be too prescriptive in my work. Maybe it's time to free myself and stop trying to make a 'photograph' of it. Can't wait to see how this piece progresses now you're feeling more relaxed about it.
that's it exactly Janie, when you're just not feeeling it, it's time for a radical change! It's partly the problem of working with a real view isn't it, it seems to come with lots of baggage! I recommend step away from the photograph and play and feel. Trust your inner knowing! xx
The sky looks so much better to me as it has contrast and depth too, whereas, previously I thought it looked too flat. As for going back to your style, I could agree more. I am sure you were included in this exhibition due to your 'style'. Therefore go with the flow and enjoy yourself, life is way too short to worry about what others think is right or wrong as there will always be those people anyway so don't let them deprive you of your oxygen. Go for it!
