Wow...just wow... This is absolutely the best sports event I have watched in all my life.. Never again will I forget the day that I actually lived to see a horse who won the triple crown... I just can't believe it

A great horse that can have his name mentioned with all the great ones. For a minute I thought Secretariat's 2:24 was in jeopardy. But a 2:26.65 is very impressive. Move over Affirmed you have just been dethroned after 37 long years. Great job Pharoah
stephen39217 Affirmed did not dethrone Seattle Slew and Seattle Slew did not dethrone Secretariat....they just took their places at the altar of greatness...each one of the Triple Crown Winners together...well maybe Secretariat sits a bit higher because he was the freak of all freaks with that supercharger of an engine (a 22 lb heart that had no genetic defects) even when he died, that big heart didn't fail on it's own, it took human chemicals and a syringe with a needle to make that gigantic heart of BIG RED's stop beating

Iwastherein1969 Yea, all of the other Triple Crown winners were Moses but Secretariat was God. Even MoW would have had a heck of time keeping pace with Big Red in any race if he was healthy. That oversized heart certainly impacted his cardio vascular system that 1 horse in a million will have. His records will stand probably forever at all 3 races especially the Belmont. Pharoah should be mentioned with the great horses with that impressive 2:26.65. I believe it is the 6th fastest of all time and 2nd for TC winners, but I would like to go back and see how many of those horses ran in all three races.
I cry every time I see this because my whole life I dreamed of seeing a triple crown winner and the day before I graduated high school he wins the triple crown :)

Yeah. I just chuckled after I realized what Espinoza said. It's been 37 years, after all, and I would've said something like that if I was him. That said, I'd probably have said, "Oh my God" over and over.
The 37 years was a long time but it's important to remember it took 25 years between Citation and Secretariat. Just goes to show how hard it is for a horse to run the 1 1/2 after winning the Preakness and the Derby. An elite group that only the great ones can endure. Congrats Pharoah on your, and you deserve to be mentioned with all of the great horses.

I was just waiting for the hockey game to start and I saw that the race was gonna start. Not a big horse racing fan, but I tuned in anyway knowing what was at steak and the magnitude of what would happen if he'd win. I'm glad I got to witness history.

Great job AP! Real Quiet came close in the 1990's ('97 or '98, I think), but he finally pulled it off. Take it easy for a while, and eat all the carrots you want, boy, you've earned it👍

Jennifer Clark I think AP got his name from a fan in a contest. Plus his sire is Pioneer of the Nile.
There is no doubt that American Pharoah is a great horse. I will also be good to not hear the yearly "will another horse ever win the triple crown again"? That being said I will always be a Secretariat fan. He was amazing in the Belmont, but he still holds records in all 3 races even after all these years. For thoses younger than I please watch the 3 races here on UA-cam to see why I say what I do.
Kudos to American Pharoah and his spot on Jockey!! Everyone is comparing Pharoah to Secretariat?? It is said the Secretariat had an enlarged heart It is believed that is what made him so fast. He metabolized differently. With his unmatched speed, his Jockey almost fell off! It is a shame that he is gone, and that Laminitis ultimately took him. I am looking forward to little Pharoah['s This race brought me to tears!!
37 years in the making....
All while being hand ridden in the stretch, this horse had something special, just wish he could've raced Arrogate in 2016-17. Just to see the two beasts match up and run
