I can not imagine being in Joel Embiid’s shoes with Ben Simmons as a teammate. Consider this, Embiid started playing at age 15 and in the next 10 years not only became an excellent defender,a monster in the paint, but also developed an excellent jump shot. Ben Simmons meanwhile was the son of a professional basketball player, played it his whole life and steadfastly refused to develop the single most important skill in the game. Meanwhile the entire Sixers team and organization were forced to walk on eggshells around it.

His first year you remember he sat out most of it so he could win Rookie of the year the following year. In College they claim he had talent but did not work to get better. Here in phila he did the same and so Shaq and the guys in the past worked to get better. They did not make up mental problem as an excuse , he may have them now but the interview he gave did not make me believe he is doing anything to get better. He maybe but if he was working out he would out there everyday trying to improve his game. If he did not want to play that last year he should have given back all that money. He got paid that first year and did nothing but sit. Shaq couldn't make fouls shots and he took the blame and you could watch him in the gym shooing hundreds of them like the players of the past. I whole heartedly feel that Shaq doesn’t want ANY player in the NBA to fail or fall on their face, but he knows what it takes to win in that sport and play at a high level AND he’s seen it all so he’s just calling it how he sees it. You can’t confuse “hate” with “constructive criticism”. If Simmons digs deep and starts playing at a high level I know Shaq would acknowledge it. Three things that don’t lie. If you listened to them, they've been talking about Ben's lack of improvement in much-needed areas since he was drafted! He had been there for what - 4 years? Free throw shooting and 3-point shooting - as the primary ballhandler - are things that he should have been improving. For his career he has shot ~15 % from 3 and ~60% from the line...
