@@zachtbh Just the expensive heirlooms for now. But I think they could print every one of their Bibles in a free country. Doesn't have to be the US. Oxford prints in South Korea for example. Belarus isn't really a free country but it's certainly more free than China and Cambridge prints there.
@@RoastBeefSandwich thank for the info. I agree, they should at least move most of their prints elsewhere in a free country. I wouldn't mind entry level bibles being printed in China for ease of internal distribution within China tho. When I found out esv started to print in China including the heirloom editions, I quickly bought the esv heirloom study bible.
@@zachtbh The problem with printing in China is there is no such thing as distributing the Bible within China. It is against the law for Chinese citizens to own a Christian Bible.
@@RoastBeefSandwich oh, what a shame. The last I've heard the bibles that are allowed publically in China are the ccp edited version, which are changed to politically conform to the ccp gov.
Randy. I looked at my NKJV McLaren today. It is in the SAME brown leather you had. I really like it. I think my favourite NOW. Even above some CAMBRIDGE and Schuyler.
Great review Randy, and I really appreciate you comparing this new model with its predecessors. Fantastic! Are you planning on reviewing the new Heritage by any chance? I would love to see you take a look at one of those.
I don't know what it is Randy, but Thomas Nelson/Zondervan and Holman made their premium Bibles in China as well and if I'm not wrong, were printed by RR Donnally too, but Crossway's China Premium Bibles were of lesser quality than those of the other 3 I mentioned. I don't know why that would have been the case if they were being made by the same printer. Even their lesser expensive Bibles are better quality than Crossway's lesser quality Bibles too. How would you compare the China premium Bibles from TN/Zon and Holman as apposed to the ones made the Netherlands?
Hi Edward. I'd put the Premier Collection and Holman Handmade series one notch below Royal Jongbloed. So they'd be 9/10 if Royal Jongbloed was 10/10. Their leather is slightly lower in quality and they have a little more variation in their manufacturing quality. They're hard to beat for their price.
@@BibleBuyingGuide Thanks much for the reply. I also thought that since Crossway was going back to Netherlands, they'd come up with better ribbons, but they're still using those skinny ribbons, albeit there are 4 of them. Anyways, the Bible I really love from Crossway is the Single Column Preaching Bible and the Large Print Wide Margin, those two are my favourite ESV Bibles. For me though, I just wished both would have had a concordance and that would have made either of them my Bible, the one and only. I have the Large Print Wide Margin in genuine leather, but didn't get the Preaching Bible. If Crossway were to add a concordance to it I'd get it. The other one that comes close is their Large Print Personal Size Bible, but that is a red letter edition and I cannot read red letters. Now of they'd just make a black letter edition. I find that I'm only looking at large print Bible nowadays to preserve my eyes (and I'm still in my 30s) because most of these Bibles the fonts are too small. But I guess people don't want the bulk so small print it must be then. Overall, there are some very good quality Bibles being made and that's a real good thing.
Thank you so much for this review 😊! Is this Bible the same size as the NKJV Quentel? I have a beautiful Quentel, but I find it to be a little unwieldy to hold in one hand.
I kind a wished they'd move the headings to the inner margin and leave the outer margin free for note talking and make the the verse numbers either of a different colour or larger and bolder and also bump up the font to at least a 10 point. I had the TruTone edition and the font was too small so I gave it away
I just can't do a single column. I have a weird brain condition that makes it very difficult for my eyes to read across the full page. It has gotten worse with age so I need to stay with two columns. And all of my Bibles weight a ton because I require large print and I prefer Study Bibles. I'll be 73 next week (yipes!) so I appreciate the way publishers are catering to the elderly by printing Bibles for us. :)
9 point FONT is too small for me. I have a 12 point FONT in ESV in a brown buffalo cover. And a goldilocks size bible. I have heard ESV compliments NKJV better than NASB? What do you think?
Is the paper more cream color? I have a double column ESV giant print that has a creamy pages & I like it better than white. The layout for this Heirloom is nice. How does it compare to the Schuyler Treveris? Is evangelical bible the only place that sells Schuyler bibles?
Hi Maul. The paper has a slightly cream color. I'll do a comparison with the Treveris and get back to you. I only have the KJV, but it will be similar. EvangelicalBbile owns Schuyler, so it's exclusive to them.
Anna. A good goldilocks bible is ESV large print personal size in 12 point FONT about $ 60 from Amazon In dark brown buffalo leather . size is 5.5 x 8.5 x 1.5. I have several more expensive ESV bibles but THIS is my favourite. Size. FONT. Price. Blessings.
I have a Schuyler ESV Quentel and PSQ. And a TOPAZ in ESV. But my favourite is a personal size large print in buffalo leather and 12 point FONT. Size 5.5 x 8.75 x 1.5 . goldilocks. Just right.
No its black text letter which I expect from a reader’s bible. I hate red letter block which is just aesthetically ugly. If you’re going to have black font, keep it consistent.
That's a tough one. They're very different. The Omega has cross-references, which would be better for study. The Legacy's single-column layout is ideal for reading and it's a better choice for adding notes. It depends on your needs and how you'd use it. I'm personally more drawn to the Legacy, but that's mostly because I love the single-column layout for poetry and I like a clean text with little or no distractions.
I am glad that Crossway seems to be trending back to printing their expensive Bibles in a free country.
They've move all their prints out from China already? Or is it just their heirloom editions?

The LEGO paper is thicker (36gsm). It's smooth and more opaque than most paper. It's excellent for notes and highlighting.
