Man Powerstone is one of those games that's synonymous with the Dreamcast, had a lot of fun playing the series as a kid. I still don't understand why none of the characters ever made it into the MvC series, they would have fit perfectly. This is another one of Capcom's lost gems, another great IP just tossed to the side for no reason. I'd love a Power Stone 3.
There was definitely a time period where the Dreamcast was the most faithful arcade to home experience for many many titles it was a great time to be a gamer
My dad and brothers own 1 a piece, they still have their games to. The top game I enjoyed on this system was PSO till this day its one of the best games as well as the sound track. Who did you use in powerstone 1 and 2?
Dreamcast was actually the first console to surpass anything in the arcade. A lot of Sega arcade titles of that time actually used a form of DC hardware.
This was great! But, where's Power Stone 2? Power Stone was the first and only videogame I ever purchased at full retail price without knowing anything about it before I had it in my hands! I remember the bright day, September 9th 1999, strolling into KB Toys at my local mall to buy the Dreamcast on day 1! I already knew Sonic Adventure was a must-buy, but I had a little extra cash for a second game, second controller and a VMU or two. I picked up Power Stone, looked it over a few minutes and bought it right then. Best spontaneous purchase I ever made! Capcom is foolish to let this franchise die!
I was so mad when it only came back out on the psp of all systems. I don't even need a sequel or a remaster. Capcom can I just get a current gen port with online support?
Well he's a pilot & Fokker was a company that made airplanes in particular it seems to be known for it's fighter planes during WW1 which his plane also seems to be based on
@@OYAHlGH this is COMPLETE brand new, news for me!!!!! I remember playing jojos bizarre adventure on the dreamcast WAYYYYYyYyyyyyy before it became popular, by American standards.
The very 1st Power Stone is more of an arena fighter, while the 2nd game is a more established SMASH BROS before that series got chaotic( only the 64 version at this time)! This game had missle launcher stages, Mega Man blasters, Guts' Dragon Slayer, scooters and so much more!
This game and Super Smash Brothers are considered as unique fighting games according to GINX ESports' Top 10 Unique Fighting Games. So, Power Stone counts as part of the genre, it even got a clone game called Shrek Super Slam. 😊👍💖
At the time that Capcom was developing this game, you can tell that people like Akira Yasuda (Akiman) and Hideaki Itsuno are big fans of Shonen Jump series like One Piece and Dragon Ball Z respectively.
I absolutely adore this franchise, I remember rushing back from school launch day in 1999 because I knew my Blockbuster preorder my mom collected for me (Dreamcast & PowerStone) was at home waiting, life changing moment, such an advancement from PS1 & N64 at the time! #bringbackpowerstone
One of my favorite games ever. Still own and play my launch day DC and Power Stone. Me and my friends lost our minds playing 4 player Power Stone 2 and my VMU is still stocked with all items. Funny the creator says 19th century but the airplane wasn’t invented till the 20th...
It hurts so much that capcom forgot and did not bother with the series. I absolutely love Power Stone to death gameplay and characters just oozed with personality! It also doesn't help that this had an Anime with a saturday morning cartoon vibe that made the series more endearing I wish they could import a remastered version of the 2 games on Switch or better, make a long awaited sequel! That's a day 1 purchase for me!
Greatest game I've played out of surprise when i was little, my brother and his friend were making beats, and alongside the stuff he had a Dreamcast and a shit ton of games burned to CD, played this along with a N64 hooked up to the TV. ugh I miss it
It was far more like streets of rage and final fight that a 2D fighter. I loved this in multiplayer with long sessions way into the night with mates and beer 🍺😃👍
Power Stone looked amazing when played. I tried the demo and loved it. Later played a friend's copy because it was hard to find. So many characters to play, a wacky story, but also fun. It was neat, different, sweet animation, cool characters, and soundtrack. It didn't feel limited whatsoever. It was a treasure
I have been attending a Power Strone tourney at my local game store when they do a dreamcast anniversary event. So seeing this video in my feed was a great surprise!
This reminds me of an old PS1 game called "Destrega" (anybody familiar with that game?).. It was a low-budget 3-D fighter & the characters shot energy projectiles like Dragon Ball Z..
When i got my dreamcast i got a demo for this game and i just had to go and buy it. XD i thought it was a fighting game. :/ then when part 2 came out i bought on release date but i didnt get into it. It didnt feel like a fighting game. That year we had this huge project in college and to decompress we would play smash brothers i never got into it everyobe kept pushing me to try it but i told them i couldnt really see what was going on. :/ but i added that it reminded me of a game i had at home and i brought them my dreamcast the next day. 1:12 that's so true. When the DC came out it was graphically so far ahead of any other console that it was embarassing, but almost as importantly it had SCART (RGB) connection. This made the image look much sharper/higher res and more vibrant than competing consoles, including the PS2 once it was released (i remember it looking like a blurry mess compared to DC). SCART was a completely standard connection on PAL TV's, so this important advantage point is very rarely mentioned by UA-camrs, as most are yanks which were stuck with NTSC TV's and vastly inferior Component or S-Video like a bunch of 3rd world cave men. You should do a video on it. The Saturn also had this massive advantage with SCART. Even now you get Retro US channels where they're having to do expensive modding just to get an RGB output from their DC/Saturn with a CRT TV... Rougly 1/4 of a century later just to get something we all had in the 90's. How embarassing.
Wow this I dint know I bought import consoles from England before but could never use their cables to connect to TV hat to get the (downgraded) us version lol
Yay daddy's back! It's funny cause sakurai considers smash a party game but not a fighter, I consider power stone a party fighter but not a full fighting game

Sweet.. thanks for the review of Power Stone. I remembered when it first came out, I was more interested in the art style than the game play when it comes to Power Stone. For next, would you consider to make a review of "Yu Yu Hakusho Sunset Fighters" for Sega Genesis. It has interesting game mechanic, similar like the 2 layout stage in Fatal Fury

I remember when I was in Italy when I was younger They has this arcade game in a bar me and my friends would come to almost everyday and play. Awesome video I completely forgot about this game
Power Stone is to 3D fighters as to what Smash Bros. is to 2D fighters. Both just allow an amazing sense of freedom in movement, items, stage interaction, and new player accessibility. I wish Capcom would make another game, or at least bring the collection to the Switch.
I think the audience is about 3% ladies. Average video gets around 30,000 views. So probably around 1,200 lady views per video...or just other men using their Wife's and Mother's UA-cam accounts...

There are a number of sub-genres within the Fighting game genre that make up what a fighting game is. Games like Street Fighter, while used as the general standard for the definition of a "fighting game", is actually part of the sub-genres itself. There are Command/Traditional fighters (such as Street Fighter), 3D fighters (such as Tekken), Party fighters (such as Smash Bros) and Arena/3D Arena fighters (such as Power Stone), along with a few others than usually contain various aspects of those sub-genres. All of them are sub-genres of the Fighting Game genre, and all of them are considered Fighting Games and generally referred to as such, since they all fit within and are a part of that genre
