I was just there on Memorial Day and did the Echo Canyon hike. What a spectacular place. We also did the Fort Bowie hike back to see the ruins of the old Fort and graveyard.
What a magical place with some cool history. Beautiful scenic drive up the mountain. I love driving to new destinations. There's something special about hiking and exploring a new place by foot past the place where your vehicle can't take you any further.
Another great video! What a fantastic place! You could see the wonder and awe in your faces during that hike. I had never heard of it so thanks for sharing. Definitely will put this one on the list of places to go. I also enjoy that there is some great scenery from the car and on shorter hikes. Keep them coming, and thanks again!
Always enjoy your travels! Since meeting you at the Landcruiser Museum our paths have nearly crossed a few times. This video caught my attention as I now live on the east side of the Chiricahua near Portal. The sky and scenery here comparable with many of the exotic places around the world I’ve seen, mostly through your eyes!
What a great video!.................Nobody has ever seen Shannon but that OK........... Chris is eating a lot better now, she will keep him healthy.........That was a really great video, just had to say it again!
This area was not as 'settled' or 'safe' as I thought on my 1st visit in the mid 1980s. After reading some history of the area & the Apache wars, there were killings attributed to 'bronco' or renegade Apaches from Mexico in this area into the late teens / early 1920s. The Fimbres (sp?) expedition was mounted from nearby Douglas, AZ (mid 1920s ?) to rescue some kidnapped children. Not all Apache warriors went to FL with Geronimo & his supporters in the 1880s. Many went to the Sierra Madres in old Mexico, a popular Chiricahua retreat. Raids across the border by Apache bands for horses, guns and supplies was a centuries long habit hard to break. The Apache wars of the SW is a well covered subject, but the period after 1900 has been less well reported. Depredations by American outlaws, Mexican banditos and renegade Apache warriors was not over til even the mid 1930s. Faraway Ranch must have been the edge of civilization in its younger years. I have lived in AZ for 48 years since I was 20. I have lived in Globe, worked in the mines, and built houses for the San Carlos Apaches. I love AZ and all it has to offer. Travel and see as much as you can. The time passes all too quickly.
We didn't stay in a campground, but I know there is one in the park however I don't know the size limits etc. I am sure their is information on their website.
This is a great video, and I love all your videos. You do a great job writing and narrating them. I probably should have commented before, but because I'm a jerk, I didn't until now. The thing that prompted me? The mispronunciation of "corps." Just for future reference, it's pronounced "kor." A corpse is a very different thing ;) ...I'm sure you've only read it before. Please keep up the great work!! :)
Good job backing up into those trees with the bikes on top
It was a little scary! haha
I was up there a couple weeks ago .. further up the canyon about 7 mi…it was cold when it was clouded over. ..

Thanks for the history lesson. Very interesting. The rock formations and views on the hike were brilliant.

Very cool! Portal is one of our favorite places, so pretty! Cheers!
Enjoying the longer format video. Great job Kelsey on narrating the history of the monument. This place is now on my list.
Thanks!
You all came to my side of AZ. Awesome! Wish I saw you two.
See you on the trail one day!
Beautiful place, thanks for sharing. I bet it’s stunning after a dusting of snow.

Didn't know that place existed. I'll have to tuck away a mental note to check it out next time I'm down that way. Thanks!
It's a great spot in an unassuming area!
1:21 if that’s not my fav invitation, I don’t know what could be!
Sounds like a challenge. Haha!
Beautiful video, thanks for making it!
That's one of my all-time favorite hikes. SE Arizona is highly underrated -- if you know where to go. Great video guys!
Thanks Wade! Agreed!
what a cool place for a hike! have you been to goblin valley also?
Tim has been, but I don't know too much about it. I will have to do some research. Thanks for the tip!

Thats some great info. It's amazing how recently the most remote parts of AZ were truly wild. We'll keep exploring as long as we can. Cheers!
Hi. Enjoy your video :) … What campground did you guys stay at? Will a 23 ft RV fit on the CG spots? Thank you!

Thanks Dan! I had a sneaking suspicion that's how it was pronounced. Now I know.
