Just wanted to thank you- the wife and I watch your videos to see what the best campsites are. We got site 24 based on your video and loved it! Thank you so much!
We had a pet skunk and never got rabies. We had squirrels and never got rabies. ..I think they tell you this so you will just leave the little ones alone…I am at site 12 .. I’ve also boondocked 5 nights up the canyon along Piney creek.
We'll try what we can. Not having one ourselves we can't offer first hand info, but we'll always try to keep in mind what info is offered by the park as well as what we notice. 👍
Oh, you should definitely check out the North Rim if opportunity presents itself. We both think highly of it and it is almost like an entirely different experience. We have a few videos on the campground and overlooks on that side too. 👍
Great video! Thanks for focusing on campsite distances, like you, I’m there to hear and experience nature at its finest not others activities but of course, to each their own . I’ve never camped at Bonita Canyon before but will consider since my RV is only 21 feet in length. And since bears have such a great sense of smell, love peanut butter / honey (and so do I) I think I would still use the food lockers as a precaution rather than risk anything tearing in to the RV. Excellent point on the firewood too. Again great video, looking forward to the next one.
Thanks! Yeah, definitely try to get out there some time if you can! Well worth it. If you prefer seclusion, and want a National Park quality experience, Chiricahua/Bonita is the way to go!
I was just there yesterday beautiful rocks . I’m going back to camp in may . It was very dry I’m worried for fire hopefully it will rain . Thanks for information
Just found your channel and subbed. I've heard of this place before but wow looks amazing. Thanks for showing what some of those campsites look like, that is helpful for a tent camper like me. Looking forward to watching your other videos. I might try to stop here on my way back from Big Bend TX in Feb.
Thanks for the sub! Always great to hear that the videos are helpful! Chiricahua is a special place, and the campground there is one of my all time favorites. We are looking forward to visiting many more campgrounds in the future!
We haven't stayed there in those month so we don't have any first hand knowledge. Google, however, shows: January Ave. High/Low: 54° / 28° February Ave. High/Low: 57° / 29° March Ave. High/Low: 63° / 32°
There are signs a bear is in the area. Scat, paw prints, uprooted logs, scratch marks on trees and look up in the trees (first place scared cubs go). I've seen sooo many bears (some too close for comfort) but have yet to see a mountain lion or even a sign of a mountain lion. Get bear spray if you are concerned (works on mountain lions too).
I carry sumthin a bit…louder, to deal with things like that. But bears don’t want anything to do with people, bear attacks are incredibly rare - I don’t expect to ever have to worry much about it
Unfortunately that video was edited so long ago that we don't have that info anymore. It would be something on UA-cam's music library though. Sorry about that
First a correction, monsoon season is late June through early October. Lions, tigers and bears, Oh My..... How about rattle snakes? I live in Sierra Vista and the last time I was there with my parents there was a 2-foot green Mojave rattle snake snuggled up against the stairs to the visitor center. Everybody was freeking out. Finally, a Ranger came along and encouraged the snake to move. It was great entertainment. I didn't believe there was such a thing as a green rattlesnake, but, there it was.
Interesting. Our news usually marks monsoon season as mid June through late Sept. Then again this year, we might have to change it as Phoenix has seen NOTHING. 🥵 Green rattlesnake? Oh my indeed. We finally came across our first after all this time not too long ago this year. Wasn't green though! 😅
@@CactusAtlas Of course, I understand. I didn't mean to criticize. I hope it didn't offend you. Sometimes I can be blunt. Love your show and hope to get back to the red rock country soon.
I Camped site 5 and got usable Verizon on my Hotspot with an antenna.
This is a pretty campground. Hope you enjoyed your stay!
Loved this video! We are planning a trip to Bonita canyon campground soon! Thanks for the info!
Glad it was helpful! Hope that you have a great time! 😊

Awesome! We've got plenty more campground videos in the works! 😄

Okay, I have to ask... pet skunk? I've heard of that, but what kind of pet do they make?
Just booked a campsite for next year at Bonita and your video helped us decide on a site! Thank you 😁
So happy to help! Have a great camping trip. 😄
Great info, very good review.
Thank you for watching and for the feedback!
Nice job on your review!
Thanks! Happy we can help in any way. 😄
I'd recommend Renting something like a Scamp for a learning curve if you're thinking about an rv.
This was helpful thank you!
So glad! Thanks to you as well. 😊
This helped a lot for a trip I'm planning. Thanks for the video!
No problem. Happy to do it!
My husband and I tow a 40 ft fifth wheel, so yes! More info on rv’s would be appreciated!
We'll try what we can. Not having one ourselves we can't offer first hand info, but we'll always try to keep in mind what info is offered by the park as well as what we notice. 👍
Beautiful place to camp! Ive been to the Grand Canyon, but not the North Rim. I'd love to see it.

I think a lot of Arizona is hoping for rain. 😅 Hopefully your visit will be fire free and enjoyable. 😄
Wow that is really out in the middle of nowhere. Sounds like you got a great idea for your halloween costume...rabid skunk!
Yeah, it sure is way out there! Cool place though. I prefer rabid coatimundi though.

Thanks! Glad you're enjoying! Yeah, I was a little afraid at first but got over it pretty quickly. LOL
Would you recommend going in the months of January-March?

Yup! We have some bear spray. 👍

What's the music that begins at 6:23?

@@CactusAtlas But you said "early October through late June". So, you got the months switched.
Ah. Well, we are only human after all. Sometimes things don't always come out how we mean it. 🤷♀️
@@CactusAtlas Of course, I understand. I didn't mean to criticize. I hope it didn't offend you. Sometimes I can be blunt. Love your show and hope to get back to the red rock country soon.
No offense taken! It's all good. 😊
😎👀🦌👍
I've seen bears tear car doors right off.
😳 They're supposed to be strong but man... quite something to see that!
@@CactusAtlas There is a stack of them in Yosemite and I lived there for several years. Bears were cheap entertainment.
This helped a lot for a trip I'm planning. Thanks for the video!
Happy to have helped out! Have a great trip! 😄
