Liked, I used to live around this area, in Paradise, Az went to school at Animas, New Mexico, this brings back memories of my youth, is was nice to see which there were more, thanks.
Wow. You do such a great job. My husband had a stroke in 2014 and lost the use of his left arm and leg so is confined to a motorized chair. I so wanted to go out hikes to these places but i cannot leave him alone for very long. Your videos help me to go to these places. Thank you!!🥰🥰😘🥰
Thanks for this fantastic video, very informative and the narration gives many interesting details. My experience with Prickly Pear Cactus candy is from my visits to New Mexico, it has a strawberry/raspberry flavor.
This video was beautifully done. My dad used to live in Cave Creek (north one) and moved to Portal almost 20 years ago. It’s a majestic place to go visit and explore!
Jeff, you do such a fantastic job with these videos. We just moved here and plan our weekend trips with your help. Ever thought of witting a book with maps?
You have the perfect voive for narrating videos, reminiscent of another time..I'm always wondering about property prices as well when discovering new towns😀
Dude, you kind of blew it there. The most scenic way to reach Portal from the Monument is across Forest Road 42 (starts right outside the Monument entrance). You climb right up across the sky island to about 9000 feet and from there you can see the White Mountains 140 miles north. The road eventually comes down Cave Creek Canyon on the east side, but the most interesting part is that high country, a Madrean Sky Island with unique animals and plants such as the coati mundi. Those little deer you saw are coues deer, a miniature white tail adapted to the high country of those sky islands.
We have love to hike the Echo Trail in Chiricahua, absolutely the highlight of Chiricahua National Monument. In this area we also hiked up to Tigre mine and rode our ATV to the Hands Pass Tunnel! Loved it as well.
Very nice and informative video of that area. Beautiful views. Thanks. I'm a hiker so I will head out for some hiking there. I just became a Tucson resident so not to far away.
That is a beautiful place. A few people have been missing in this area. A man and a woman went missing on separate dates in 2015 with the woman’s bones being found a couple of years later, the man never found. A park ranger Paul Fugate went missing from the visitor’s center in 1980 and has never been found and he is the only park service ranger to go missing and never be accounted for. Like many areas it would be best not to venture on the trails alone.
The Chiricahua National Monument is some of the most beautiful park land in Arizona. Very neat to see such a historic site. I have visited there with my family and friends and couple times. It gets pretty hot down there so be sure to pack an extra beverage or two, or 10.
Really interesting video, they are the places where bitter clashes between Apache natives and the United States Army took place. What's left of the Fort Bowie facility ?
Wow, this brings back memories. I grew up in Cochise county and spent lots of time in the Chiricahua's. Cave Creek, Cochise strong hold, Rucker Canyon to name a few as a boy scout. My Uncle had a cabin in the National Forest on a long term lease to the Forest Service above Cave Creek and Portal with a little seasonal creek right by it. My siblings, cousins and I had a grand time there. Check out the Movie "Broken Arrow" with Jimmy Stewart, it touches on the history mentioned here. Also InRangeTV has done some excellent Southern Arizona History videos here on UA-cam, it is predominantly a shooting channel but Karl is quite the Arizona historian. "War for Apacheria" is one such series.

Thanks for showing this. The last time I was there was 51 years ago. I hope to see it one more time before I go.

Absolutely beautiful video. Liked the cactus candy. :)
Planning a drive to Chiricahua National Park for first time, this Memorial weekend. Bringing big binos for stargazing. Thanks for making this video
Beautiful place, and Great job showing it to your viewers. Thank you. Rick in NC.

I live not far from there. You did a great job with this video.
I'd like that 10x over if I could. That was some beautiful scenery and was well presented.
It's unreal how much I miss living in the desert.
Thanks for this video! Now I want to go camping there and star gaze. Looks very cool.
We visited here when we first arrived in AZ two years ago. A hidden treasure.

Is Forest Road 42 easily traveled by car? I'm assuming it's a dirt road.
@@daylearceneaux4083 Yes, it's dirt road, but not bad unless weather events wash it out (which is rare).
@@kodiakkeith thank you. Been to the monument once for a quick drive through but definitely want to go back and explore

Nice presentation I love seeing parts of Arizona that I have never seen before.
So much to see there. There is a road takes you over mountain to Portal also, all dirt but very nice scenic ride. Thanks for cool videos!
Stunning drive. Thanks for taking us along. Would be good to know more about the camping (any hook-ups, dump site available, etc?).
Excellent presentation!!
Very nice and informative video of that area. Beautiful views. Thanks.
I'm a hiker so I will head out for some hiking there. I just became a Tucson resident so not to far away.
Cool place thanx for sharring you make nice video's a lot of information thanx 👍🖐
Thanks! Really cool place. We only got to see a small part on the western side and tied it in with Fort Bowie, also an awesome place.
I’m glad you skipped the resort in the ranch. That’s my hidden gem to stay at.
Very cool, great music/scenery combo in this video, thanks and safe travels on to NM!

What is the weather like in Portal, AZ on Thanksgiving? Any good watering holes? Have an open week. Thanks 😊
Great video Sir!!!
That's quite a few more trees there than I expected. You didn't mention the missing park ranger or Johnny Ringo's grave?
Ringo's grave is off the 181 rather than the 186 in Sunizona/ turkey creek. Another beautiful ride
Impressive !
Great video. Thanks!
Amazing video!!! Grate drone footage!!!
Thanks for the video. It is on my bucket list. Not a fan of camping though, had enough of it in the Army.

I'm glad you mentioned the best place to see stars also UFO'S
Really interesting video, they are the places where bitter clashes between Apache natives and the United States Army took place. What's left of the Fort Bowie facility ?
One of the best places to bird watch in the United States, from what I read.
Nailed it again !!!
We used to go to Portal to get our lottery tickets from Playas NM
Great video. Some of this area reminds me of the Flinders Ranges in South Australia.
Lovely video. Thank you.
This place is awesome nice upload
Island hopper? Your other channel
What is it about?
Cool thanks I've never been down there. Those spires are cool kinda looks a little like Sedona 😃
It’s more travel videos like this just more than Arizona.

Lots of rattle snakes. Ft Huachuca, AZ. Is near by.
Dude... I saw a phone booth by that store in Portal :-o
The secret is out.
That’s what I was concerned about but I’m glad he skipped some key places.
Last time we were there we found the bones of the last visitor. Hee hee...I thought Hovenwehp was desolate.
Is there anywhere you don’t travel to?
Lol So lucky.
What time of year did you go?
Right at the bottom is the grave site of Johnny Ringo. Used to hunt bears there.
What?!?!?
Cave creek is in lordsburg NM or hildago county
Ok, I gotta visit this area. Thanks. BTW, what video equipment do you use? What do you have for the aerial shots?
Lot of change in 25 years.

Where are all the Native Americans from that area now???
