    Perfect message for me, I'm 61. Had to deal with parents getting sick in 2018. I just lost my job. Unsure why it happened then. Then weeks later many challenges happened that gave me why. I had roof issues, both parents got sick. Found out Dad only had 5 years to live from bone disease. Mom needed heart operation. I became care giver. Help with appointments, medical, repairs, maintenance for 2 houses. Plus had to deal with legal and my own fatigue. They both passed very quickly Sept 2021. I'm still dealing with estate while looking for work. I'm ? Why employers are not calling me. I have also learned from the greats. I'm using mindset resources like Joe dispenza's work. I feel I'm in a waiting period. ? When will things shift. Yes, I can understand that the steps I took for years and focusing on main tasks, projects is preparing me for something big.

      @JamesJones8552 I’m so sorry for all your losses and struggles. I read this and it resonated. I’m in a similar season and working my way out of it.
      I highly recommend reading Bob Proctor’s “You were born rich.” The Audible comes with a PDF handout that helps with understanding the subconscious programming we all have and working toward intentionally shifting our lives in a more prosperous fulfilling direction.
      Honestly, anything from Bob Proctor that resonates will help. I consume lots of self help and have for years, but something about his voice, his story, and his GENUINE desire to help others has helped me move out of the darkness. Wishing you the best! 💛

    All these advices (that everyone regurgitates) is great for single people. I wanna see something for how to deal with having a spouse and child where you can't get 3 hours of deep work in a day.

    • @lauriexwang
      @lauriexwang  18 днів тому +15

      Balancing deep work with a spouse and child can be challenging, but it's possible with the right approach. I had my child during lockdown and it was probably one of the most challenging period of our life (my husband is also an entrepreneur and was writing his book then), we are now parents of an energetic toddler and constantly juggle childcare and running our businesses. Here are some of the things that we did as parents that helped us:
      Creating a flexible schedule around our kid (I get those deep work period when school is open).
      Prioritizing tasks (this actually made me more focused).
      Embracing short bursts of productivity (when you are able to have it!).
      Communicating openly with each other.
      Be kind to ourselves and recognize that we are all running a different race and we need to recognize that we are in different season of lives (I'm not going to compare my productivity to that of entrepreneurs who are not parents).
      Thank you for sharing your perspective and hope these help on your journey!

      @@lauriexwang thanks for your prompt and candid reply. Nice to know you’re also married and a parent. We just had our first child in December, so she’s only 4 months old now. Honestly, I think I was getting more done in the late hours of month 2 while I was watching her each night, but even though she sleeps through the night now, I can’t manage those late night deep work sessions anymore since I’m back to my day job and traveling for work again. My wife also suffers from bad PPD, so I’m left to carry much of the duties around the house, plus care for her, the baby, and dogs, on top of my job (the only income) and building my business. I’m motivated but there’s no logic or reasoning I can apply to break through to her (e.g. I spend a bit more time now to gain a lot more time back for family in the future, not to mention financial freedom). I just feel stuck between a rock and a hard place. I have a daily accountability coach reminding to focus on one goal, it just seems that there’s always something that comes up at home stifling my progress. I’ve never been one to quit, but I’m really considering a long pause on everything. I just don’t want to let anyone, including myself, down. Anyway, thanks for listening and for the advice. 👍 I can’t wait for our baby girl to be able to do more herself. I know each stage has its challenges, but 24/7 monitoring and care is draining without family, friends, or hired help.

      @@andrewbonica it isn't easy for sure and why we must adapt our definition of a productive week as we move through each season of our life. Great video! I've read a few of the books mentioned, so I know what I need to do but get stuck in that vicious cycle. I'm fairly active, sleep well and have a good income, so I feel privileged for that, but I want to do more for myself. For years, I've dreamt that people could buy a brand that I created, watch my UA-cam videos and I can work for myself, but I've not done the work to create something that I own. I know my downfall is distractions, whether that's doom scrolling or thinking that a different business or skill will get me further. I think about pre-existing beliefs and find that it isn’t about challenging beliefs but about thinking analytically what they mean, their origin, and which are facts that truly benefit our lives because they are truths.
    It isn’t about challenging for the sake of it, because we feel uncomfortable or because the masses adopt new unfounded ideologies, dropping older beliefs. It is about learning to unlearn bad habits that come from false beliefs, false teachings, and false ideologies.

      Prioritize relaxation before bedtime.

      Incorporate stress-relief practices like meditation or yoga.
      It's also a good idea to seek guidance from a medical professional, who may offer valuable insights.

    • @lauriexwang
      @lauriexwang  22 дні тому +1

      Thank you! 🙌 If I had to pick 3 (besides the ones mentioned in the video), I would say:
      1) The Mountain is You by Brianna Wiest
      The insights and beautiful poetic writing in this book helped me through a hard time to stop my self sabotaging behavior.
      2) The Third Door by Alex Banayan
      Alex opened my eyes through his extraordinary journey to interview some of the most successful people in the world. He showed that there is a "third door", allowing regular people to skip the line and find hidden opportunities by thinking outside the box.
      3) The Almanac of Naval Ravikant
      A compilation of some of Naval's (co-founder of Angel List) best lessons on wealth and happiness. It changed the way I think about success.
      I'll be doing a video on these books soon as I think they need to be shared so more people can learn from them.
