I love that English people say desiccated instead of dried. It's so much more dramatic and final. This coconut is desiccated and it's never coming back!
It's true - Mike's nice to everyone!
You're spot on with your comment Ben. My only issue with vegan food is when it pretends to be something traditionally not-vegan
I´m so glad this channnel isn´t like bragging with the fact that is vegan. It´s just like "Hey we have this great coconut chocolate pudding" and not be like "gluten free, dairy free, cruelty free, vegan pudding"
You can do it without sugar but it will be non-sweet and blander, because the sugar not only sweetens but also brings out the flavour.
"...this will taste good, because he doesn't make anything that doesn't." - Mike. AWWW that's quite possibly the sweetest thing any of you guys have said to Ben! (:
You can do it without sugar but it will be non-sweet and blander, because the sugar not only sweetens but also brings out the flavour.
Our quick ice-cream recipe could be made with honey substituted for the icing sugar if that helps!
Neither white sugar nor honey are vegan.
I love looking back at your old vids
7:16 that laugh
The sprig of mint still found its way in there! Lmao! :)
Mike you always have a great attitude about these kinds of things.
Yes you can!
I took catering as an option for my GCSE's and your videos really help. Thanks a lot.
i love every single one of mike's outfits omg
OMG Ben's giggle is adorable
Well thank you so much for all the MIKE in this video. I have always said you can't have too much MIKE and that is true. His comments and asides are pure gold. He plays his part as no one else can and that is why we say MIKE MIKE MIKE MIKE MIKE and more MIKE please. Thank you for all this MIKE he is a show unto himself.
You can use almond or hazelnut milk and swap the desiccated coconut for chopped hazelnuts!
something else up our sleeves!
My 3 year old daughter loves "the show where the men make something." So we see a lot of you! Thanks for the yummy vegan recipe.
Normal gelatine is yes... but we used a vegetarian version made from seaweed extracts.
Fun Fact: White sugar actually isn't strictly vegan, because bone char is used to refine the sugar.
It depends actually. White cane sugar is often processed with bone char, but white beet sugar is never processed with bone char. They're both sold as white sugar though, and they don't always specify which, so you might have to do your research beforehand if you're very strict (most of the vegans I know aren't this strict, but it's a personal thing). I know Domino sugar is always cane sugar and also processed with bone char, but Pioneer sugar is beet sugar, so it's vegan. But those are just two brands. There are plenty more out there.
Very cool, I didn't know that.
Flaming Falkor
:)
We have to say that no, we had no idea! Thanks for letting us know!
A tin is about 400ml and yes you can double the proportions for more!
Chocolate strudel is an amazing vegan dessert!
ohhhh... I like this dessert, Anything with coconut instead of milk is always a plus
My mum always made mango hedgehogs when I was a child, until now I never questioned how else you'd serve it.
Yay! Just received your cookbook in the mail today! Looking forward to trying out all of the recipes! :D
Bens laugh at the end was cute hahaha
You can!
Omg....all your recipes look so amazing! Can't wait to try them all. Incredible!
There's one in our first cookbook... have you seen that?
you're really creative! we make jelly/agar-agar just like that with the coconut(here we get fresh coconut milk) and sugar. but the caramel sugar and chocolate jelly is inspired! Will be trying it soon!
use almond or hazelnut milk and swap the desiccated coconut for chopped hazelnuts.
Yay! :-)
Mike is like " I AM SUPER OPEN-MINDED!! RAWRRRRR!!!"
Most big supermarkets in the UK will often have at least one vegan sugar, if you check carefully.
Finally a recipe that I could actually eat! Looks delicious and I don't have to worry about lactose or egg whites!
u can check ur local grocery store... i know coconut milk is often in the foreign section cuz it goes with curries. If not try specialty stores, vegan or otherwise
i used to make this all the time...without the brittle though. coconut and chocolate go well together. so does coffee and coconut =)).
How about our Rhubarb and Ginger Frozen Yoghurt?!
Pacific Foods makes a hazelnut milk product. You could try their website and see if they sell in stores near you. You could also make your own hazel nut (or any nut) milk at home by looking up a recipe.
yay a non egg dessert! cant wait to try it! didnt realise vege gel was so easy to use :D
Aw, that's a cute name - hedgehog! It's how I normally cut it, but I always thought it was just cut like a checkerboard
Yep... easy swap!
I haven't! Thank you - I'll definitely check it out :-)
Looks super delish! I must try this.
Great! I was hesitating to use it because the shopkeeper told me that you usually use gelatin to make pudding.
It reminds me of a japanese desert ! Great one , I'll definitely make it ! Thanks :)
my sisters are vegan and they will LOVE this! can't wait to make it for them!
This looks AMAZING
Why do you need to? This tastes amazing!
your guys' reply made my day :]
Both substitutions would work out fine! :D
FACT!
Hey sortedfoods! you may be shocked to know that refined sugar isn't actually vegan. animal bone char is used in the refining process!
They should have a TV Channel called SORTED!
Guy's, I really appreciate you doing your show a lil bit more vegan friendly.
I WILL, try this at home! (:
These are such cool recipes!
Yes yes! A coffee or crumb cake would be amazing! Thank you!
I love coconuts, so I would probably like this. Looks delicious. Thanks.
This makes me cry
OOOOH!!!! A hazelnut chocolate pudding and hazelnut brittle!!!! Sounds decadent!!!! I absolutely love you, but the way!!!
It's beautiful... I mean the pudding... and Mike and Ben...
How about Beef Stroganoff? Check it out on our website!
I'm not a vegan person, but this looks AMAZING. I'll be trying it out for sure! :D
Check out our Coffee and Almond Cake!
Exactly what I was thinking!
Could you please do more gluten and lactose free desserts? I can eat both but it's not ideal for me since I am slightly allergic to both. I know you already have a few recipes that are like this but I'd love to see more! :)
In Hawaii, we call coconut pudding Haupia. Haha, greaaat recipes guys!
Love this. Been looking for lactose free deserts
Most desserts use cream, butter, eggs etc... not easy to recreate some of the classics without animal products.
Guys! you do AMAZING recipes! Every single one I do at home comes out great)))
You also do sort of international recipes, I mean the American series, you've done German burrito and all that) Perhaps, that could be a challenge: could you please make something Russian or a recipe with a kind or Russian twist)
Thanks so much)
Anastasia
Esses caras são muito bons!!!
I would love to see a coffee cake recipe
I made this and it was so good!
Can you use arrow root or cornstarch instead of veggie gel
ahhhhhhhh that looks soooooo goooddd I would love to try it even though i am not a vegan :D
Finally some vegan recipes! More like this please!
don't you just love Mike!
Sugar often has bone char in it which isn't vegan and a lot of people don't realize it. Just a heads up!
Will do! :D
You're so creative! I love it!
Nice request, Jess!!
Can I substitute almond milk with regular milk and that algae thingy with normal gelatine? I cannot get those two things in my supermarket. Definitely making this tomorrow! YUM!
omg this looks amazing! yum
Ben knows how to hedgehog the mango because its the only way Tyrone would eat it.
Hearing How Ben pronounces 'agar-agar' made me giggle. It's pronounced as ah-gar
Hahahaha "you would never know that it's missing...animal stuff" lest line ever!!!!!!!
Ben's laugh at 7:16
Delicious!
In this case "easy to make" means "tasty and well received by varied palates" rather than "does not require advanced cooking skills" :)
Yay! I love your vegan recipes! Thank you!!
looks like chocolate haupia pie! yumm! :)
Well then I'm making that soon! can't wait, jumjum :D
Just make sure your sugar is vegan, not all sugar is. Some sugar is filtered through char made of animal bones. :] Great recipe guys. I'm not vegan or vegetarian but I would eat this. I eat mostly vegetarian, but I don't think I'd ever be fully lol.
Ben: It was a hedgehog.
Mike: It's not vegan then, is it?
Haha you guys are so funny! Great recipe :)
Dear Ben, please do a video with Ingrid and Fleur again!
THANK YOU!
can you make something easy with fish. i really love fish and i want to try something out, like a Japanese recipe
Thank you for doing a vegan recipe! Looks great! Much appreciated :)
