The only thing the Y cut does is properly piss off both square/rectangle AND triangle loving sandwich cutters and make a sandwich that everyone hates equally. Peanuts in coke is really common in Georgia (the US one). Most people I know have done it, and several go out of their way to make sure they have peanuts in there lunch to add to their coke.
It is common in most of the South at least. I knew people in Michigan who did it but they learned about it while visiting the South. Can't say for the midwest or west coast cause I never met anyone that had heard about it before. I live in Arkansas and have been doing it for 35+ years
My parents, both born in the early 1920s loved peanuts in coke. When we took road trips in the 1950s, they introduced it to my sister and me and it's still a favorite treat!
I never thought Barry would be the sole voice of reason in the face of things claiming to be stylish or trendy, but his redemption arc is clear. @10:00 Yeah no, this is a literal thing in the deep south. The other way people down here do this is Sprite and Flamin' Hot/Cajun (cayenne based spiced) peanuts.
The salty peanuts also help down here in the south. It's hot as hell down here and having a bit of salt to replenish the salt ya lost. Lotta times you'll go into a gas station and they will have bag of nuts taped to a bottle for people to grab and go.
Having grown up in North Carolina I forgot how strange it must be to others to put peanuts in Coke or Pepsi. My mom does it with RC Cola. I knew the gang would be eating their words as soon as they tried it themselves.
The idea behind throwing the peanut shells on the floor is that when the people walk over them they release oils which go onto and into the wooden floor, making them shine and protecting the wood.
Sadly true. I used to work in a steakhouse like 18 years ago in Australia and that was about the time somebody slipped, sued and then complimentary peanuts were given a bucket for the shells.
I am so surprised that this happens in a place in Singapore. I mean, you are not allowed to have chewing gum there, for hygenic reasons, and than there is a bar where you throw peanut shells on the floor ?
Yay!! North Carolina here! So glad you loved the Coke and peanuts! How could you not?? I have watched almost every episode and this made me so happy to see! Hugs to all of you!

I grew up with a bag of peanuts being sold with a bottle of coke at the gas station near to a lake. Cut open the bag of nuts, pour into coke, enjoy at the lake. This was my childhood in the 80s.
Was people working manual labour that wanted a way to eat their peanuts without dirtying them while on the job. At least that's what I've heard from older folks in Georgia.

I agree with Barry, you're better than that.
On the other hand, watching Barry get tortured over Jamie and Ebbers having that inane conversation and feeling like he was taking crazy pills was actually hilarious.
Barry was right in stopping the sandwich Tiktok. It really was boring😂
So right. How long can anyone listen to some bozo go and on about sandwich cutting. FFS!
I rarely agree with Barry whole heartedly, but I entirely agree with him on the sandwich / toastie bit.
I'm with Barry regarding the cut of sandwiches. It's like you're trying to fool yourself when it's obviously JUST A SANDWICH.
Barry is very quickly becoming my favorite. I love to see the negative point of view back on the show! Cheers!
In a rare moment I'm team Barry, the sandwich cut is a non starter as far as being interesting.
Yep could not agree more
Team Baz just for a day huh? 😆
@@SortedFood when he's right, he's right though.
Barry is SO RIGHT!! TicTok Trend on cutting a sandwich? Sheeple, all of us are SHEEPLE!!
I don't think I have EVER cut a sandwich I've made in half unless it was on a long roll.
17:23 scrolling past.....yet Ebbers kept on eating it????🤣🤣🤣
Peanuts in coke is really common in Georgia (the US one). Most people I know have done it, and several go out of their way to make sure they have peanuts in there lunch to add to their coke.
No way!
@@SortedFoodbecause the Coca Cola original plant is in Georgia.
It is common in most of the South at least. I knew people in Michigan who did it but they learned about it while visiting the South. Can't say for the midwest or west coast cause I never met anyone that had heard about it before. I live in Arkansas and have been doing it for 35+ years
@@noyou9379it also migrated to California in the ‘30 & ‘40s with the Oakies and Arkies.
@@Ilanahnahalso can’t forget the insane amount of peanuts! Peach state? Nah, peanut state.
He started out with high standards but uncertain how to achieve them he just bought expensive gadgets and ingredients, and years of honing his senses, gaining new skills and understanding and identifying uselessness, lead him to correctly identify a y shaped cut is not worth a 5 minute conversation
Barry’s annoyance about the sandwich discourse is me!! I never even cut my sandwiches 🤷♀️
#TeamBaz
Yeah, sandwiches don't even need cut unless they're massive or something. If I was having a sandwich like the ones in this video, I wouldn't bother to cut it.
Barry is 10,000% right in his incredulity over that stupid sandwich cut. And I can only hope Ben is trolling by acting like it isn't asinine.
Ben must be trolling right? RIGHT??
I'm happy to see the sprig of mint making a cameo! I know that's silly, but it somehow makes me nostalgic. 😂
It wouldn’t be a Ben dish without it huh?
When I was in primary school my teacher made chocolate birds nests at Easter, and I never forgot how it tasted, for some reason it always stuck with me, and I was so curious as to how it was made, so thank you for answering a 30 year old question! 😂. Love the video! With the last one, doorstop sized slices of bread and a salted caramel filling would be wonderful I think 🤤.
Okay but the whole sandwich conversation was hilarious because i was completely on Ben's side and Barry being so dismissive was just like my brother
@5:50 Meanwhile I'm one of those absolute weirdos who refuses with a passion to ever cut my toast / sandwiches into any kind of pieces! Just give me the whole slice!
Love this 😆
@@SortedFood OK, off topic but I've wanted to send y'all a recipe that my family made at least twice a month when I was a kid, and still does here and there, that I'm fairly sure was just something my mom was served, and she then changed it to make it her own, and I think you'd like it. Is there an email for suggestions?
@@SheepdogSmokey
Contact page on their website would be the best bet.
right? you have to take out a knife and cutting board and spew breadcrumbs everywhere just for you to have the exact same amount of food... like what?? Just eat the dang sandwich lol.
I have never cut a sandwich my life. It's more work with no appreciable effect.
@10:00 Yeah no, this is a literal thing in the deep south. The other way people down here do this is Sprite and Flamin' Hot/Cajun (cayenne based spiced) peanuts.
Yeah I think I did pepsi and peanuts 30 years ago for the first time.
I'm with Barry it doesn't matter how you cut a sandwich.
It doesn't matter IF you cut a sandwich. I don't get the purpose of cutting it in the first place
9:01 Barry losing the will to live 🤣
I came to look for the Barry comments at exactly the time you posted lol
Here in Nigeria, peanuts and coke has been a thing for a long time just we usually eat it separate. A handful of peanuts and a mouthful of soda.
The idea behind throwing the peanut shells on the floor is that when the people walk over them they release oils which go onto and into the wooden floor, making them shine and protecting the wood.
The places that used to allow that no longer do as it has been determined a slip hazard.
One of my Mom's fondest memories from childhood in the south was putting her peanuts in her coke. She also did it as an adult.
Yay!! North Carolina here! So glad you loved the Coke and peanuts! How could you not?? I have watched almost every episode and this made me so happy to see! Hugs to all of you!
As a Norwegian kid, I often had Coca Cola with salted peanuts, 40 years ago! It has to be a glass bottle, though.
Glass bottle makes it a little more classy 😆
@@SortedFoodnot more classy just taste better and easier to get the peanuts
Same here, also Norwegian
That’s fascinating, as it’s so common here in the SE USA.
I know my father back in the day was stationed in Norway, I wonder if that was something the GIs brought over, or if it was convergence?
@SortedFood back earlier all bottles were glass. I grew up near nashville music studios and on Sunday we would walk and pick up all bottles tourist left. Return bottles for deposit. Big thing waz ready bottom of coke bottles to see which cities they were made.
Peanuts in a Coke is a southern delicacy!!
Barry losing his sh*t over the sandwich cut was hilarious. 😅
Barry's face @10:51 with Ebber's cheeky Bennuendo 😂
Think I had a similar reaction to Baz
The solution to the French toast going soggy bit is to use two slices of bread and to sandwich the "lava"
The 3 cut sandwich section really felt like J and Ebbers were conmen trying to convince you that you NEED to do the 3 cut but Baz was the only person with any sense.😆
After watching Barry, I can’t help but think that this would be a great prank. Have all four trends be something absolutely ridiculous - maybe even something you’ve made up and posted anonymously- and have everyone else act like it’s the greatest thing they’ve ever seen and one person is just left completely in the dark wondering what’s going on? 😂
I'm half convinced this is what happened. Like, there's no way they actually think cutting something in thirds is that amazing. Right?
Ben calling me out at 6:44 as I drill a GDK with extra mix into my face.
Ben's face when he tells Baz coke with peanuts is delicious. Then Jamie's little giggle. Ah the boys are great!
Baz looking me directly in the eye as Ben and Jaime go on and on about sandwich cutting and both of us are calling bulls*$t 😂😂😂
I grew up with a bag of peanuts being sold with a bottle of coke at the gas station near to a lake. Cut open the bag of nuts, pour into coke, enjoy at the lake. This was my childhood in the 80s.
4:45 Missed opportunity to say ‘The bar has been set’.
I love how Barry looks at the camera every time Ebbers says "nut"
OMG, I was SO looking for this very comment: astute observation!!!!!!!🤣🤣❤❤💋💋
I could literally HEAR the internal battle Baz was having during the NUTS conversation. 🤣
Baz finally snapping was hilarious and the attempts to go at it logically makiing it worse made it so much better
I totally agree with Barry about it doesn't matter how you cut your sandwich, it ends up 'in my face anyway' but I still cut it evenly!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Barry is right about the sandwiches.
I agree with Barry on the sandwich, but it's seriously satisfying to see him so annoyed
Benuendos were visible in Barry’s reactions as he looked back and forth like, “we’re not keeping this in, right?”
How have I never noticed Barry's Sid James laugh. It is excellent. Ohhh matron. 😅
I may be extremely weird, but salty fingers are my favourite thing about eating nuts or crisps.
Barry going crazy over sandwich cutting being a big deal all of a sudden. And i 100% agree with him
100% with Barry on the sandwich cutting
Salted peanuts in Coca-Cola is not a tick tock boo train. It's been around for a very very long time
People on TikTok "discover" vintage stuff constantly.
Yep, this has been a thing since at least the 1950s. I had it in the 90s myself!
What’s next, RC cola and Moonpies?
I think it's pretty regional (Georgia, specifically), but it's been around for a long time for sure.
Was people working manual labour that wanted a way to eat their peanuts without dirtying them while on the job. At least that's what I've heard from older folks in Georgia.
😮 The Y cut also gives you much more of that inner "best bite" experience... 🤯 im shook
As a North Carolinian and long-time Sorted fan, I was worried got a second there about divided loyalties. That goodness the undeniable taste of Farmers Coke brought it back together in the end.
Watching Ben go from hating the peanuts and Coke, to then begrudgingly accept it, to absolutely loving it was thoroughly enjoyable.
Yeah I'm also with Barry on the Y Cut? It's just dumb and how does it make the sandwich taste better???? It's not changing the ingredients.
I guess it could be about ratio? In the same way a sandwich made with ends of the bread will be different eating experience (more crunchy cause more crust in this example) than middle of the loaf slices.
"Loads because that is delicious!" The disgusted suprise in that sentence!
100% with Barry on the sandwich convo except I don’t cut mine.
I have been cutting my sandwich in 3 since a few weeks now and I have to say it is a game changer. Food theory did a video about it showing that it actually gives you more surface area. I never thought I'd be so passionate about it.
Im with Barry on the sandwich question. I didnt skip the segment only to give him emotional support thru the screen.
Barry has a point about the sandwich cutting bit. An interesting concept, but I don't think there was anything to actually test there
Most boring 5 minutes I’ve ever witnessed on this channel. Barry was spot on. Do better.
I live in Alabama and peanuts in an RC cola is an absolute must!! Or in a Dr Pepper too!! This is something I’ve done for my entire life and something my maw maw and paw paw did growing up too!! This isn’t new Ebbers this is actually very old 😂 ❤
RC is still the best cola!
I love Barry. 1. He turns his notifications off because it’s just annoying to constantly get interrupted while you just want to enjoy life. 2. He’s traditionally (two piece sliced bread). ❤
Lol Farmer's Coke has been a staple where I live for a very long time. My grandfather used to make them for us as kids, great on a hot summer day, you get refreshment and snack all in one. Perfect for the little ones. Great to see it's getting some nostalgic attention again! 😁
Honestly, I am surprised that Barry was the one to think that cutting a sandwich in three was too much fuss. He strikes me as the kind of person who would love tiny tea sandwiches that had the crust cut off.
With Barry on the sandwich 😊 (I personally go for diagonal) 😊
🙌
If you are surprised by the amount of food left when you yourself prepared and cut that food then there's something wrong with your memory and you should see a doctor.
I am howling with laughter at how deadpan Jamie and Ben were during the sandwich segment and Barry losing it as the end
keep it up guys well done
ummm adding peanuts into coke has been a southern staple for a LONG time, hilarious it is back
