  • Note! This is not a cutscene from Hyrule Warrios: Age of Calamity, but rather from my own Breath of The Wild prequel film "Age of Calamity: The Story of What Happened 100 Years Ago". In which the story plays out mostly the same as shown in the BoTW timeline where the champions meet an unfortunate end.

Damn, it’s kinda unsettling how mipha was just brutally pummeled. In the divine beast dungeon themes, you can hear beeps in each of them and it’s in a pattern of an SOS signal, meaning they desperately called for help and no one was there to save them.

@@dennist8290 Yeah it's pretty brutal when you come to think of it. But I find it also very dissapointing we didn't get to see Mipha fight against Waterblight before Sidon saved her. Urbosa, Revali and Daruk all got a short scene where we see them fight their Ganon blights but not Mipha. For some reason, they only show Mipha exhausted and not the fight that took place between her and Waterblight ganon before she was exhausted and got saved. It sucks because Mipha doesn't have any fight scenes. It's stated her spearmanship was in a class all it's own but they literally never show us her fighting skills. Now would have been the perfect moment but I guess not.

However, cocky is not his ALL personality; he basically only acts cocky when he is interacting with Link (rivalry relationship). When he is on himself and the others, he can objectively tell what is going on, and this dialogue change makes him looks like he is too stupid to see / too cocky to realise how bad the situation is (you can see lots of people laughing at / mocking him that he is blew away after this “just a scratch”, when the truth is he KNOWS his situation is bad).
I play the game in Japanese & Chinese so I don’t know if the English version changes some mechanics, but in the game (Age of Calamity), when the player control one character (let’s say A) to help another (specific) character (let’s say B) in the gameplay, there will be a cloud pops out at the corner showing what character B reacts to the help of character A.
When Revali is that character B, I’ve seen his reaction for other 4 characters: the other 3 Champions and 1 secret character.
Revali thanks for Mipha’s help and also reminds her to be more careful for herself.
Revali compliments how good Urbosa handling situations and so he is saved.
Revali almost denies he needs help and then says he honestly thanks for Daruk’s help.
Revali says he never expects the help from that secret character, but he is happy for it.
Here what I want to say is, Revali is much more than cocky/ego/arrogant. He is smart, skilled, and can be honest to others (except Link). Many dialogue changes in the English version kind of twisted his personality; some originally neutral dialogues of Revali become super impolite and rude in the English version and I think that’s doing him dirty and unfair.
Thank you if anyone finishes this long reading.

Mipha had one of the heaviest disadvantages in the fight against her blight. It froze over the water that she could have well used in a fight, essentially trapping a fish on land. Each Blight was practically tailored to defeat the respective champion while beating them at their own game. Daruk fought Fireblight a heavy hitter with a nearly impenetrable defense, Rivalli fought Windblight an agile sharpshooter, Urbosa fought Thunderblight a lightning fast sword and shield fighter with control over the storm, and Mipha fought Waterblight a spear wielder that could control ice. I love the tragic story behind Breath of the Wild because this is the story in which our heroes ultimately lost. If it wasn’t for Zelda’s miraculous awakening, Link and all of Hyrule would be gone. I don’t think we’ve ever seen this great of a defeat for our hero since the events that set up the first Zelda game.

@@piko_pako i think the term “designed for rivalry” fits better.
The term I just made up comes from a UA-camr which makes videos on how to design for videos mostly using examples, and the example for Rivalry was King K. rool in smash
K rool copied every move of DK and made it better, the ground pound? Copied, the charged punch? K rool Can do it without being a special, DK’s strong clap? K rool does it in a tilt, the aerial? K rool changes forward movement and attack for upward movement and attack
K rool down Special Can counter DK’s Normal special
The air attacks of Donkey Kong which are he’s most redeemable quality in all of smash? K rool can do it with only one hand and better!
And that goes on and on with all of he’s moveset.
The blights just like K rool, are made to rival the champions powers and actually improve upon them while still being their own thing to surprise the champions and even counter them
They are designed to be perfect rivals and they succeeded at that task to the point not even old and new champions could beat them at their peak without help
Ganon knew how to design for rivalry, but sadly he couldn’t design a rival for link… then along came ganondorf in TOTK to be that rival

  • @nosoul266
    @nosoul266 Рік тому +114

just realized the champions had no chance of winning.
Daruk would’ve had to used some sort of explosive weapon to break Fireblight’s shield as Link did. So really his fight was just destined to go on repeatedly until he tired out.
Urbosa was fighting lightning against lightning. Her ganon was insanely fast, making the fight unfair, and while it did somewhat match with Urbosa’s own agility, it still wasn’t fair. She would’ve gotten tired long before she ever had a chance of victory.
If you really think about it, Mipha never really stood a chance. What could she have possibly done? I can only imagine she could do nothing except dodge, heal, dodge, heal, dodge, heal, she would’ve gotten tired eventually. And her spear, like what was she gonna do with it? Chuck it at water light and hope for the best? Her death is honestly really sad because there was nothing she could do to prevent her death. Sure maybe she could’ve manipulated the water, but what use would that be?
Revali’s fight is by far what I think is the most unfair. Ritos cannot see well in the dark and his fight was during a dark rainstorm. It was also raining. No doubt that also had an effect on him, as he is a feathered bird. His weapon is also rather Inconvient, similar to Mipha’s situation. The great eagle bow was a range weapon and while probably the best weapon for his ganon, also the worst because he almost would never have the chance to shoot an arrow because of the contant laser beams. He also eventually would’ve ran out of arrows.
Breath of the Wild is cruel.

    • @idkanymoretbh5452
      @idkanymoretbh5452 Рік тому +20

      To add on:
The Thunderblight was made fast enough to dodge Urbosa’s lighting when she called it.
Waterblight turned the water Mipha could’ve used to dodge into ice. And it could crawl up walls, which would render Mipha’s spear attacks useless. AND the thing had it’s own huge spear and other ice objects it could throw to keep her at a distance.
Windblight produces tornados, which, is extremely bad for a Rito who needs to fly to use his bow. Just an added thing to dodge lest he gets flung from the sky.

(Warning: Long Comment) Based on the divine beast themes and these cutscenes,
Mipha sent out her SOS call first, (Probably as soon as the water turned to ice and she realized that she was in alot of danger)
Daruk sent his next, with him realizing that the Fireblight could tank more damage than him and he knew he would lose the fight eventually
The Urbosa heard the others but then Thunderblight showed up and she realized what was going on (Her SOS call is the quietest, and it's barely hearable, she probably knew she wouldn't make it after hearing all the others)
Then, last but not least, Ravioli sent out his call last, but it was hella fast and loud, he was most likely trying to fight the divine beast on his own and then realized at the very end he needed help and started calling for help, not knowing everyone else likely died as he was occupied fighting while everyone else sent their SOS calls
The story inside the themes alone being further added on by age of calamity is just an amazing example of a game and story done right.

To everyone who’s saying stuff about how “oh the champions are just weak! Link can beat them so easily!!” Think about it, Ganon was smart, the blights were designed to fight using the champions weaknesses to their advantage.
For urbosa thunder blight is able to move faster than her and control her lighting.
For Mipha water blight is able to freeze her water taking away one of miphas only fighting skills.
For revali wind blight can shoot beams at him fast so it’s hard for revali to shoot back, also they fought at night and the ritos vision is bad at night so revali could barely see.
For daruk fire blight was playing on how daruk fight with defense so it throws quick blows at daruk so that he never gets a chance to fight back, he’s always being the defense.
But for link it was way different!! Why you may ask? BECAUSE HE HAD RECOURSES. AND HE HAD TIME. Link had time to prepare for this fight, to gather recourses and stuff. But the champions? They got nothing. Because they had to rush to their divine beast to defend and had no time to do anything else. Also link had the sheika slate which you use in all of them except for wind blight.
Link had the advantage, the champions aren’t weak. The end.

Mipha and Urbosa's deaths were probably the worst. Daruks could be up there depending if he's immune to magma and fire. Mipha was literally beaten around with blocks of ice and then was completely crushed under one of them. Completely turning her into a pile of mush.
Urabosa was probably covered in severe electrical Burns and had multiple broken bones to the point where she couldn't move. And at the end she was either decapitated or sliced in half.

Urbosa was a skilled warrior, no doubt about it, but with an opponent as fast as Thunderblight, she would barely have time to predict and counter attack and so she was overwhelmed
Waterblight froze over the water, heavily restricting Mipha’s mobility, as a Zora, she’s only ever at her best when she’s in the water, and seeing the weapon it used, as well as those huge chunks of ice, compared to Mipha’s swift strikes with her trident, she was beaten brutally
Daruk’s whole fighting style relies on tanking a hit, then striking while his opponent is recovering, but Fireblight was not only strong enough to break Daruk’s barrier, but it was also faster and tougher than Daruk, allowing it to overpower him with relative ease
Ritos are FEATHERED FLYERS, with horrible eyesight in the dark, fighting in a rainstorm at night left Revali heavily weakened as the storm made his flying sloppy, and the darkness and rain made aiming almost impossible, all while Windblight just had to keep shooting, eventually overwhelming Revali
And in the end all four champions fell
Daruk and Revali were likely just incinerated, destroyed within a second and that was that
Urbosa was impaled and electrocuted, Mipha brutally beaten and broken before succumbing to her injuries
And the Divine Beasts were lost

Just from my perspective, wouldn't of made more sense to have different blights go to the champions that have different powers than them? Like thunder-blight fights mipha, water-blight fights daruk, and so on and so forth. So then all the blights would have an even greater advantage. Maybe I'm just looking into it to much but it's just my opinion

    • @2KXMKR
      @2KXMKR Рік тому +28

It's essentially a 'fight fire with fire' tactic.
Water-blight froze over all the water in the chamber, taking away Mipha's swimming abilities. It also hangs from the ceiling, far out of reach of Mipha's trident. This one is by far the most brutal fight. Water-blight essentially trapped a fish on land and pummeled Mipha to death all while she couldn't even fight back.
Thunder-blight could teleport away from Urbosa's Fury, as seen in her fight seconds before she realizes she's in trouble, while overwhelming her sword and shield fighting style with insanely fast attacks from every angle.
Wind-blight could hurt missile volleys in to the skies to eliminate Revali's air advantage, much like an anti-air gun firing flak at fighter planes. *EDIT* I just realized that Revali was most likely trapped inside Vah Medoh's force field, eliminating his escape while Wind-blight threw countless missiles at him. Like trapping a bird in a cage. Quite symbolic!
And Fire-blight is a bit strange to put up against a walking rock man. It was probably just the only one that could withstand the heat of Death Mountain while wearing down Daruk's Protection.
Though they would have had an ability advantage over the champions if they swapped roles; lightning vs water etc, they also have a key environmental advantage as they are and perfectly counter the champion's own abilities and specialties.

    • @apersonwhomayormaynotexist9868
      @apersonwhomayormaynotexist9868 Рік тому +10

I mean I don't see that as a better strategy. Daruk got the one who was the heaviest hitter to break through his defense, waterblight or the other two would've had a much harder time cracking Daruk's Protection, plus Daruk would have home court advantage, fighting a water/ice being in a place where water and ice basically can't exist. Any blight other than windblight would've probably lost to revali, thunder fire and water have no ranged attacks quick enough to hit him, and Urbosa would've destroyed any of the other blights, thunder is the only one that could resist/dodge her lightning and stand up to her. Mipha probably could've lost to any, admittedly, but considering that the other three need to go to their specific blights, it makes sense that she would get water

I just thought of something. Albeit different, the champions mirror the sages from TOTK.
What if Calamity Ganon made them, not to mirror the Champions, but the sages during the Imprisoning War. (I know, TOTK wasn'tthought of at all so it is the champions the Blights are mostly based off of.) But imagine, the Blights being twisted amalgamations of his memories of the Sages of old, the Sheikah Tech amplifying them, and Ganon's anger and malace towards Hyrule?
The reason the Blights came out swinging and had the advantages was to counter the Secret Stones of the Sages. But after not having the stones, the Champions fell nearly instantly.

1: Why does Mipha look so defensless when she's a fucking master with the spear/trident?
2: THIS WASN'T SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN IN TAOC!!! The ones that helped you enter the Divine Beasts in BOTW should appear in they're respective Divine Beast!!!

      1. According to BOTW, Water Blight Ganon snuck on her and injured her before she had chance to recover. She also probably was unable to move as well as anyone else could.
She had to deal with multiple projectiles, a spear with an adjustable range, AND a flail (spiked ball and chain). Not to mention, her limited mobility on ice to work with. Most damning of all is that she likely couldn't heal much without being attacked.
      2. Yeah, the scenes are from AOC, they're just clipped to show you what would happen without their interference.

Urbosa is BADASS, I don't care what anyone says! Thunderblight Ganon was the HARDEST and she hung in there! She even kept up well enough to block for a bit. I feel like Thunderblight would have beaten anyone. Revali is the one who should be ashamed. Windblight Ganon was a wimp.

"Windblight Ganon was a wimp" Revali literally couldnt aim as WBG was constantly blasting at him. Not much he could have done since he's a long range fighter

Windblight is the second hardest blight. It’s hard to avoid its attack in the second phase and its tornadoes deal huge damage. Also, it teleports far more frequently than any blight and it can avoid bow attacks when midair.

I was really hoping that when the deaths of the champions came up it would play out like Halo Reach. You're pretty much fighting knowing youre going to die but damn it I wont make it wasy on them.
