In the last Panel from Hell, the small livestream shows that the developers provide in order to present new major content patches, one of the lead writers said something very interesting:
She was staring down a barrel of a dialogue she had to write, which she needed to come up with around 700 to 800 lines of text. But the player goes through this dialogue in only 3 or 4 clicks. This is because she had to take all possible permutations of story decisions, character background, class, subclass and race decisions into account. And this is why I love Larian Studios so much. In an interview the creative director Swen once said, that for him game development is primarily to create the games he would love to play and to set new standards in the industry rather than profit. And I absolutely believe him.
Another great example of player agency is the bard class. They (and only they) are given a cantrip called Vicious Mockery, whose entire intention is to offend someone and thereby cause psychic damage and give a disadvantage on the next attack. This ability is clearly designed for a Pen&Paper game, where it works absoutely wonderful, like it creates so many funny situations and funny insults that players can throw at enemies. Larian Studios completely escalated and thought of 97 different insults (most of them pretty cool and fitting in the world), that the character using this cantrip is actually saying ingame. At least that was the number, when the patch dropped, maybe it's higher by now. Let's assume you can choose 8 different player voices for your custom character. All your companions (of which there are at least 6, probably a few more) can choose a feat at certain levels, such that they can learn this too. So in the very least, they had to record these 97 lines of insults for 14 different voices, for a cantrip that you can also completely miss in the game, you can argue that is isn't even that good of a cantrip. By no means, they had to do this. Nobody would have complained, if there were only 20 insults, or the cantrip had a different visual or sound effect or whatever. Nobody asked for this. But they do these things, because they are crazy ambitious and love their own games. And that's why you have to love the developers and that's why this game will revolutionize the RPG genre, in the very least concerning player agency. But also the rest looks just fantastic, as was pointed out in the video and the city of Baldur's Gate itself could be seen in the last trailer and it looks very, very promising.
So if you are in any way a tiny bit interested in Role Playing Games, don't miss this game. It will be wonderful!
Larian really is in a league of their own in terms of what they hopefully are about to create, rooting for them.
And thanks for supporting my channel!
Especially the dialogies are fantastic.
I remember a game I played many years ago called “Snowball”.
You could write question or answer in real text.
Whenever the game programmers hadn’t anticipated a possible line from me, the answer from the game was always “Arfle Barfle Gluup?” (This would have been instead of “WHAT?” or simply “Syntax error”)
That's insane...
Bro really saying vicious mockery might not be good smh L take
Truly am Epic game!
I have 200+ hours in EA and I'm still finding cutscenes and dialogue I've never seen before. I can't wait for the release! My hope is that BG3 will be the gold standard that all other CRPGs are compared to after this.
Same experience here, pumped for release. Thanks for helping my channel !
Whats EA? And why use CRPG?
@@therealandtheunreal EA is early access. People often talk about these kinds of RPGs as CRPGs (computer role playing games) - particularly the tabletop style ones. I think it's because most of them started on computer, but very few games are computer specific anymore, so it's probably more habit than anything for most people.
The problem is, im not sure if other companys are able and willing to put that much effort into a game. Especially CRPGs arent usually AAA Titles but you would need a budget of one to go through all this effort.
But maybe in the future there will be a way with the help of AI technologies to reduce a lot of the work you have to do with all of this.
@@therealandtheunrealconsole trash noob 3 years late to the game huh? 😂
I knew this game was going to be something special when they have dialogue for meeting Shadowheart after the crash after casting "Disguise self" on yourself and taking the form of a Githyanki. That level of attention to detail is astonishing. Do they just have gnomes sitting in a dark room coming up with all possible things a player might do?
Ya that’s a perfect example of what makes the game so great and when it reacts to you like that everything becomes so much better.
Appreciate you taking the time to watch!
Or you know they made a scenario where you play a gith and thats why there is an extra scene
@mofix11 that's just it, it's not a scene AS a gith, like if you play as one or play Lae'zel, it's a scene for if you're disguised as one but you aren't. It's a specific comment on being disguised. It's only a one-off, but it's remarkable that it's there.
Or the fact that it IS possible to fail rescuing her from the pod on the ship and NOT meet her on the beach!
What!?
So far, the thing that BG3 seems to do so well, is choice. Choice in build customization, choice in party comp, choice in story progression. Those are the bread and butter of a CRPG. But......
The choices in combat are insane. So many options. From spell combos to abusing elevation to crazy multiplier stacking, there are so many ways to solve problems. That, for me at least, is what really sets this game apart. Creativity and imagination are rewarded in SATISFYING ways.
So far, Larian has truly impressed me. I hope the full release can live up to the crazy expectations i now have.
Exactly my thoughts as well pretty much each section of my video I focused on that freedom aspect, couldn’t agree more larian has done a great job
Yeah the hype is getting real ever since Larian put out that city trailer. I need to calm myself down, there’s still 10 weeks to go. That’s too long to be obsessing 24/7 about BG3. But the reason I’m so hyped is that o think you’re right, this could be the best CRPG, not just of the year or the decade, but ever made.
It really does have the potential I’m hoping it can live up to it in the full game for sure.
And thanks for supporting my channel!
You know how to recognize a good sound track? When you immediately know where it's from 10 years after playing the game. That's referring to the Mass Effect music he used.
Mass effect has such great tracks for sure
If you shove the spider queen through the massive hole nearby you can loot her corpse in the Underdark
Ya that’s what I did when I feather fell down I should have mentioned in the video lol
I’m only 42 hours into EA, going on my second playthrough atm, and I’m amazed at how the game never ceases to amaze me! There are interactions, parts of the map, and characters that I’ve never encountered before
Yep there is so many things to the game it’s kind of insane, thanks for watching!
Discovering that the hole the Spider Queen fell into is one of the ways to reach a certain area was probably my favorite surprise in the game so far. But nothing shocked me more than Larian thinking of the possibility that someone might try to use Disguise Self to change their appearance to Githyanki before talking to Shadowheart on the beach, which differs from just being an actual Gith.
All good ideas they considered.
This game is going to have a lot of competition for GOTY. I have total faith it will win. Larian is doing such an amazing job in the last few games. There's no surprises here with the early access showing us everything and not just they want us to see.
So many amazing things this year if this and Starfield along with the cyberpunk expansion are awesome probably will be my single favorite year for games ever
Let’s be realistic it’s not going to win goty as games like TOTK are goty bait and will most likely win. I would love it if BG3 won but it won’t.
@@Charliestrife01 ya even if it is the best game this year it doesn't have the mindshare
I hope it gets nominated at least. And maybe it'll win in some other categories like voicework. The only other real contender in that category would be Matt Mercer's Gannondorf.
This game is going to be absolutely genre defining and will likely win some niche GOTY awards. But the big awards will go to nintendo/Bethesda/etc. unfortunately.
It has the potential to be the best RPG game that has ever been made, in a first time triple A CRPG, the sheer amount of money that has been put to it, the love, passion and dedication of almost 6 years in development, will truly be amazing to see how it all unravel on august 31st.
I already have played 100 hours in early access and i have pretty much got my money's worth per time and enjoyment even though its only act 1, and unfinished one at that, so getting more of bg3 will be pretty much the icing on the cake with cherries on top and glazing chocolate all over it.
100% agree, I think this game deserves the same level of hype as the Starfields and Zelda’s hopefully the full release goes great
Baldur's Gate 2 is my all-time favorite game. The characters in your party are as a memorable as the ones in Mass Effect. I agree with my brother who said as he was nearing the end of the game that he felt sad knowing it would soon be over.
Hoping the 3rd can recapture the same feeling, thanks for supporting my work!
You actually can loot the Spider queen if she falls into the pit, as she ends up in Underdark.
Ya I feather fell down to get some stuff but just reloaded a save to go down later
You mentioned that there was a hole where only the gnome could fit through. But, there is also the Reduce Person spell that can be used! Having multiple creative solutions available is what I love about this game.
Yep that is a great point you could do that as well! It feels like an immersive sim in so many ways while also having super deep RPG mechanics, it’s the perfect type of game I wish more people made
And Wild Shape!
Your justification of story being an aspect that makes you love a game earned you an instant subscriber. Your point about Mass Effect 1, spot on! I have a lot of gamer friends, though I think I'm the only one of us that don't mash the skip cutscene button.
Glad to hear there are others out there too haha
That's why playing in single player with Nobody is essential. I mean come on, the immersion from cut scene, I want that. But in multiplayer with random people, it is going to be the skip dialog and cut scene.
I climbed into the secret entrance after I turned into a cat as a Druid lol.
Cat Druid best Druid
Early Access is already amazing. The full game is going to be GOTY. You can definitely get lost in this game. Rather than chase quests, you explore and just stumble upon things going on. And it's all so good.
I haven't seen your videos before today... but you got me when you said that you can suffer through bad gameplay for a good story... I am with you on that!!! I played Witcher 3, and then I went and played the Witcher 1... and WOW... that had some really weird gameplay.. it wasn't absolutely terrible, but it wasn't good... but I played that whole damn game and I loved it. The narrative kept me hooked, the missions, the characters, the world, I loved all of it... even if Geralt looked goofy swinging a sword around his head like a madman. I still loved it. However, I won't play a game with great gameplay if I don't like the story, I don't care how good the game play is... I just won't stay hooked to it, like I will when there's a good story.
Ya I always hear so many things from gamers where I just don’t agree and this is one of them for sure, thanks for watching I appreciate the support!
Great analysis, i think this will be a genre-defining game that’s talked about for decades after release (much like the original Baldurs Gate games)
Appreciate the support!
BG3 early access got me interested in crpgs. I’ve played PoE1&2, Tyranny, DOS1&2. I need more crpgs to play!
Same exact story for me lol, the early access and wasteland 3 made me fall in love with the genre
A developer needs to come out with a third person action rpg of this quality.
New to the channel here, you got me with the first two minutes about what's important in RPGs. I've heard a lot of hype about BG3, and a lot of premature condemnations by old fans (of which I am also one, having played BG1 and BG2 when they came out), but your assessment I believe. Let's hope Larian can maintain the quality and reactivity that makes the first chapter great across a whole game.
Hoping they can do it, and thanks for watching and supporting my work!
Coolest part is that EA doesn't even give you all the races/classes or even all of the 1st act for example. You can spend a week and not even finish yet. And they plan to redo the stuff you see in EA in the full game so everything won't be so blring
Yep I’m so excited to see what things are added on full release, not long now.
Appreciate the support!
I was avoiding playing EA but with the patch 9 I caved in and it was an Absolute blast.
One thing I would like to add to what you have said - BG3 provides incredible sense of environment exploration almost as good as Elden Ring or Outer Wilds.
I hope we'll be able to preview full class progression at character creation and multiclassing at full release, it will make building characters so much more fun.
Really good point, there is so many things to discover and uncover in every zone just another thing that’s awesome about the game.
Thanks for watching the video!
You get it. You really get it. For a 40 years veteran of D&D, this is THE D&D video game. Sven's goal is to make a video game that comes as close as possible to real D&D play.
One game I tried playing recently and rather enjoyed is called "Encased." It's a turn-based, post-apocalyptic, retro sci-fi CRPG that I think you might enjoy, being a fan of both CRPGs and science fiction. The story is quite interesting, and it has some strong Fallout vibes.
I’ll have to take a look trying to find some stuff to enjoy for the next two months while nothing is really coming out
One of the main thing I look for in rpg games like this are the romances. After seeing the bear clip I am so excited for all the romance options.
When you said you loved immersive sims and mentioned Deus Ex... my man. Any game that can give me that feeling if killing the assault of troops on Paul Denton and have him survive and the game acknowledge it is going to instantly be a favorite of mine.
First time watching any of your content mate and absolutely loved the vid! Been waiting on this game's full release for YEARS and this review got me even more hyped for it through how enthusiastic and genuine you are its completely contagious! Keep the BG3 content coming!
great video! this year is already absolutely amazing and i even forgot that the game is coming out very soon, thank you for reminding and hyping me up again, i did not play the EA because i thought i would absolutely hate it when i reach the end of the first chapter but after seeing your video i think i maybe missed out something special
Appreciate you watching and supporting!
And ya the early access was really great but at this point I would just wait since release is so close and then you can experience it all the first time, looking like it might be a fantastic game
I was contemplating between getting BG3, Phantom Liberty or Starfield for weeks now. Looks like you helped me decide on what to get. So, thanks!
Anytime! I’m honestly excited for all 3 but baldurs gate 3 is the one I am most certain will be awesome, think all will be great though for sure will talk about them all on the channel
Hey, Starfield will be on gamespass for PC in case it's something you'd be interested in:) a bit cheaper and maybe you can enjoy both.
@@sevenleaf8511 Gamepass! Now that's an idea. Thanks!
This game has a HUGE potential for replayability, more than any other game I've seen.

Baldur's Gate 3 is a dream come true after 22 years of waiting and made by one of the best game studios out there and this video got me even more excited than I already am (if that was possible) for its release. Thank you for doing it.
Thanks for the kind words and support!
I've been following the development since BG3 was announced and since then I've put about 80 hours into the EA I am super hyped for this August I just can't wait for the full game!
Same here! Thank you for the support
Fantastic (Pre-)Review. So good to see this when so much of the "gamer community" seems to care endlessly and only about numbers and builds.
Really appreciate that!
around 300 hours myself I have played every class available atleast once, still managed to find new stuff even after my sixth playtrough can't wait for the full release I plrobably will end up with over a 1000H in this game
It really is such a great game, thanks for supporting what I do!
@@FranklyGaming didn't expect you to reply while i was watching the video.
I would love to keep playing but after 300 hours I'm afraid of burning out so I'm now waiting for the full release before playing again. the is going to be another panel from hell on the 7th I don't know if patch 10 will be release but even if it does I don't think I'll play it when we are so close to the full release
Small challenge for you: Get, keep and use Surrurflowers. There are crazy things yo can do with it in and outside of the underdark, if you know how to handle them. (trading them with Authie Ethel for example)
Great video! I have put a whopping 450 hours into early access and have explored every nook and cranny of Act 1, so I will be ready to jump into the full game knowing my preferred path. And that path involves getting invisibility ASAP and robbing all the merchants blind. My favorite class is monk, so I look forward to see how they are implemented. The wait is almost over and it was well worth it.
Cant wait to do my first playthrough will be awesome, and thanks your the support!
I don’t believe you explored every possibility until none are left ;)
@@normannseils3936 Every nook and cranny is not the same as every possibility, just every location.
@@TheJayman760 you didn’t get the joke.
I'm super hyped for this game. I know I'm getting ahead of myself, but I can't help but wonder if BG3 will get nominated for game of the year? I'm fully expect it to get a RPG nomination. It would be so dope if it gets GOTY.
Probably not.
It's a CRPG and won't appeal to a mainstream audience sadly.
497 hours early access- already the best game I’ve played can’t wait till launch
Divinity OS2 was already one of the greatest RPGs ever, so i can't imagine what they'll manage to achieve with BG3. It trully feels like Larian's Magnum Opus!
Excellent video as always
man ;)
So excited to see what they pull off, and thanks as always!
Came across you randomly while researching BD3 which is about to release, then I heard the mass effect music and the passion in your voice, you got a sub!
Really appreciate the support!
I own this game since it came out to preorder and i love exactly the same things like you...rly cool video seeing there are people loving video games for the same reason i do
Thanks for watching!
You sound like a guy who spent hours just listening to all the Mass Effect Codex entry and loving every minute of it as did I.
Damn right haha 😂
Awesome video! As long video games player (PC) this made me even think again what RPG game actually even is!
im 95 hours in as of last nught and just re rolled a char with a buddy who just got it. i literally am finding new places in areas ive explored throughly. this game is going to be the gift that keeps on giving for YEARS
Accidentally came across this channel. You are excellent. Keep doing what you're doing. 👍🏼
Really appreciate the kind words and support!
As soon as I heard Mass Effect music in the first minute, I knew I was gonna watch the full video. Excellent choice.
Appreciate the support!
Don't worry about save scumming. Play the game how you want and let others play how they want. I started with Divinity 2 and I had no idea of the genre. In short, I sucked. Save scumming, changing builds, playing through the same battles repeatedly even if I won them, helped grow my love for the genre.
I can't be mad if a game doesn't have those options. That's a developers choice. But I will say that for me personally, if I'm trying a genre I'm new to and you constrict my options of how to play? I'm probably gone.
Looks like a fantastic RPG. Larian is a great studio, and they're very passionate for this type of game. I'll have to check it out for sure and great video as always man.
Appreciate it as always brother, and ya you would love it I know we have similar tastes
I can't even imagine what it takes to create a game like this.
Approximately 60 hours in early release and could not be more excited for the game. Been waiting 20 years to get back to Baldurs Gate on the PC. Been there lots in table top. :). Thanks for the video.
Thanks for supporting my work!
What I loved was that there's a place where you can smash a hole in the wall--but goblins are sleeping nearby. However, you can cast silence on that spot and then bash the wall without them hearing.
Ya stuff like that is a perfect example of what makes the game so great
The best video out there for BG3, thank you a lot!
Really appreciate the kind words!
The act 1 we got in early access isn't even all of act 1 there's going to be more too it.
I’m really curious to see the missing parts I know the other routes must be part of it but even changes to what we have seen like maybe more in the starting part
Thank you for the video. See your Interface of buttons u were clicking. It was so many I just hope it won't be a nightmare on Ps5. As I don't own a decent pc
Ya not sure how it plays on console I imagine still fun but you can tell it was made with pc in mind lol
I can't wait to play through this game as my first major (aka long-term) D&D 5e character - Krell, the half-orc barbarian, that was more of a force of nature than an actual person, always itching for a worthy fight. I'm a bit said that I can't make him a borderline immortal zealot, but hey, I guess Wildheart (why the name change from Totem Warrior) or Berserker (if they fix the exhaustion downside) will do.
Mass effect ambient music in background....man of culture
Couldn’t not take my opportunity 😎
So far, the best RPG I have ever played is Divinity Original Sin 2. I'm looking forward to Baldurs Gate 3. To beat DoS 2 it needs to be damn good, that's all I'm gonna say. I'm sure it will be. it is made by the same studio after all.
I’m actually playing through it now before baldurs gate 3 finally just to see what it was like, can definitely see all the DNA that eventually will be baldurs gate but also a lot of differences
I've not looked forward to a game this much since childhood, hope it delivers. And EA has made me optimistic
Man im so excited for the game. The release is just around the corner can't wait!
So close super excited to see the full thing!
All I'm gonna say is love the mass effect map music in the background
Sneaking up on the hag and eldritch blasting (best op spell in DnD btw, don't @ me) her off of the ledge was the best moment I had in this game.
She had it coming lol
Wonderful video. You've got me even more hyped for the game.
Glad you enjoyed thanks for watching!
Love this game to death. How Larian studios has been paying heed to the gripes of the community, the effort to make a great game and the attention to detail is a thing to appreciate indeed with how recently other devs are now often forced to make games they do not enjoy making. Still a bit sad that the general gaming populace does not find this awesome (with how assasins creed and spiderman got louder cheers at the xbox reveal recently and how not a lot of people talked about the game afterwards)
Ya I’m honestly surprised baldurs gate 3 isn’t getting more love it has a big community but not the sort of press of a Starfield or cyberpunk I think it deserves it though which is a big reason I made this video.
Hopefully after release it gets all the love it really deserves
I think that's largely due to the marketing for BG3 not being great. If you didn't already know what's up with this game the Gortash trailer wasn't going to do anything for you. The trailers haven't been showing off how incredible the dialogue system is, or the reactivity of the game world. People see BG3 at events and game shows and have zero clue what the game is like, and think it's a Diablo clone.
Perfect Mix between Tabletop and the Cinematic Storytelling of Video games
Exactly, so excited for the full release and thanks for watching!
Another one got attacked by larian. it shoots direct into the heart and you´ll caged into this game forever. i love the game, the company and the community. i never get hyped for games, but this one is really differnt!
I have been waiting for this game for a long time, up until now have avoided the early release to not get tired of the game waiting for the full release.
But just bought it and it is currently downloading to get the free digital deluxe upgrade at launch and will start playing around learning the mechanics and getting comfortable with the new gameplay.
I think this old retired guy will enjoy this from what I am seeing!
It’s an awesome game I think you will really enjoy! And thanks for watching
Dragon Age Origins will forever be my favourite RPG of all time. But BG3...I don't know man, it's got serious potential in eclipsing it!
I’ve heard a lot of people say baldurs gate 3 is very similar to origins for sure
@@FranklyGaming It feels very similiar. I enjoyed all the Dragon age games. But none recaptured the same feeling as the first. BG3 does.
@@S0URCH33KS that is awesome to hear I never got to play origins at it's original release, thanks for watching by the way!
I love it when you use this aspect ratio. Looks great on my 21:9 phone.

I've deliberately avoided knowing anything about this game prior to watching this video. Baldurs Gate 1/2 are very important to me and I'm terrified that this one would not measure up.
This video gives me a lot of hope, and I both thank you for it while also cursing you for kindling hype.
It’s funny I wasn’t even excited for it and then I played and I was surprised by how much I loved it, so hopefully it can live up to the hype I gave it 😂.
Thanks for supporting my channel!
My friend got me to buy the early access without telling me that it was just barely act 1 that was going to be available. At first I was pretty annoyed I spent that much money (I rarely ever buy early access, as I'm generally against how most companies handle how they make it available) however, once I started up that first playthrough.... Well I'll put it this way: I've put 302 hours in up till this comment. I don't think you will be disappointed with the games graphics, mechanics, and world. Can't promise anyone will be satisfied with the story, because thats just not a 100% guarantee no matter what.
@@15thobserver even just the first act has so much content
BG1 and 2 are genre defining. True works of art. From the little I've played in early access, the legacy is in good hands.
@@FranklyGaming No joke, even with as many hours as I have in I have not tested ALL the story possibilities, that I even know about. Just yesterday I found something small that I never encountered before. You were right about the game reacting to your choices. In my gaming experience, this level of freedom with the game accounting for you with a reaction/consequence is unparalleled. Probably going to become the standard in the next 5 years with AI taking over NPC reactions using a pre programmed personality with all the world knowledge built into them.
13:30 she (spider queen) didn't disappeared forever, you find her in underdark, and this was a option to win fight, as well one way to deeps.
Larian Studios made Divinity: Original Sin 2, one of my favorite games, and I cannot wait for the full release of BG3. They are an amazing studio.
They really are so great, playing through divinity now for the first time too
I'll never grasp the complaint about the "ease of save scumming" and similar things. If you dislike save-scumming, here's a suggestion: Don't do it. lol. but don't try to deprive it from people who like that option.
My issue is the ease of access makes it not only an un optimal way to play without it but also it’s just too tempting so when I force myself to not do it it makes me annoyed and have less fun and if I use it I get annoyed it’s so easy to fix something that could have been a cool failure.
Ideally I’d like just a mode that somehow gets ride of save scumming entirely just for force myself to live the actual experience you would have at a dnd table instead of always having an easy way out
Nearly 400 hours into Early access and nearly 10 play throughs later I still am deeply in love with this game and can echo and agree to alot of what was said here. As a huge dnd proponent, I can also echo that this game plays like how dnd feels to play. the level of freedom and responsive narrative and consequence make it incredibly cool. I have dealt with Kahga in a unique way every time I have encountered her. With every new patch, more depth has been added, supplementing the huge breadth of the game, theses so much to discover and interact with, so many ways to shape the game and encounters to how you want to play them. What impresses me and keeps me so hyped is that even if the first act is in fact denser than the coming portions of the game ( i doubt it) if anything close to the same level of care was brought to the coming acts then its going to be one of the most memorable and in depth gaming experiences of all time. the game continues to feel like theres so much under the surface and waiting in the wings to interact with, and I cant wait to get my hands on it.
Im 300 hours in and I’m actually trying to break the game from time to time. In a sense to see what they thought of and what not. Even though (and there speaks the game designer in me) there is still room I’m not sure if that is even possible to Program in a realistic timeframe. Larian is really scratching at the ceiling of current Technology and doability. Before we can actually implement working AI for dialogues and level creation this will set the bar really high.
Reaching out to my high-school table top group i played with to see if they want to co op online. Been 30 years since those cherished days.

Kinda like that tag line line 😂.
I'm happy because it's just a 30 minute video this time lol.
Only 30 minutes haha
Nice video! Looking forward to the game!
Thanks for watching!
Baldurs Gate 3 my most aniticipated game of this year. I have around 300h in EA and I stopped playing only to not burn out. I've waited so long for new awesome RPG and I knew I will get it from Larian Studio, devs who made so far the best ( or one of the best RPGs with Dragon Age Origins, BG2, Icewind Dale,) RPG of all time Divinity Original Sin 2 and who can beat it? Only another game from Larian Baldurs Gate 3. They show so much love to the genre, how they want to please every player with even small on first sight non matter possibilities, panel of hells where we felt love from them ( even small larp during one of them) and passion they talk about the game. They listen to players and try to change things that were a problems that I can't imagine it to fail. Larian Studio is one of few studios left I trust ( probably I trust them the most). From newest trailer city looks gorgeous and it will be massive to discover it without a loading screens.
Just let me to finally do some shady things with my Drow assassin/bard in the city xD
Oh and they gave us our precious Shadowheart
Mass effect & dragon age got me into rpgs but pathfinder opened my eyes.
I dont typically like turn based games but i do like the depth this game has & will get it on console.
If you love CRPGs and want to play one in space...you should 100% check out Colony Ship: A Post-Earth Role Playing Game! Its status as an indie title in early access definitely shows, but I think it has the potential to be just as good as BG3 from a story and roleplay perspective, though it certainly will be a bit more janky/less refined combat-wise. It gives me "Fallout 1 in space" vibes, generally speaking. It should be coming out right around the same time as BG3, Starfield, and Phantom Liberty, so this fall is going to be INSANE for RPGs. This year might end up being one of, if not the greatest release year for RPGs of all time (even if Starfield ends up being a bit of a dud, which I am anticipating because of Bethesda's recent track record, but I digress).
Interesting haven’t heard of it will check it out, I enjoyed torment tides of numenera
You should take heart and also play baldurs gate 2 , it is also a awsome game, even cumbersome for a title to play today ! BG 3 is also awsome i thing i also did 3 or 4 early acess campains, end evertime you find new dialogs, new places and stuff, i do love this, its somehow like ultima or dd ^^great game its crazy that there a people who love diablo and cant really enjoy a game like this, which is in any way superior.thats what i think.
It is like Half life alyx, the devs think about the player and as such , that is what makes a good game.
i am holding myself back, the only time i played BG3 is way at the start of development up until the character meet some dragons? i remember we're on an alien-like ship, i dunno, im trying to keep my memory slate clean as possible.
can't wait.
I have 200+ hours in EA although I haven't played since the patch when the bard was relaesed so that I dont burn myself out for full release. Larian is by far my favourite team of game devs and I'm definitely rooting for this game to shake the rpg genre to the core.
That hole with the spider queen cast feather fall and jump after her, you end up in the underdark, her body will be there.
You get a sub from me BG3 is going to be a true RPG that shows every aspect that is great about them
Thanks for the support!
I have 50 hours in EA ... in EARLY ACCESS! I mean hello? That's more than I spend in most AAA games today. Act 1 (in its cut form) alone is more complex than some other games in their full length.
Divinity Original Sin 2 is one of my favourite RPGs of all time and i´m really curious if Larian can top it. I had to think for a long time but i just decided to get the Collector´s Edition of BG3. I really liked what i played of BG3 this far and i´m really confident that Larian will deliver one of the best (C)RPGs ever existed.
@franklygamingextra, you must be in sales because now I'm waiting a sale to purchase BG3, and you've earned a new subscriber!
really appreciate that!
I have 36 hours in my playthrough. Did only 1 playthrough with my buddy when EA first dropped. I'm so excited for release coming in the new future. Almost got sucked into another playthrough to sate the hype but don't want to discover anything new until "it counts". Plus I want to play my DnD character (Dragonborn Paladin) which I can't until release. Buddy saw the PFH the other day but doesn't have a PS 5or PC so he just bought a Steam Deck so we can coop together. Can't wait!
Oh man, all the videos I’ve been watching about this game has my mouth salivating. This might be the rpg that’ll really pull me back into gaming.
Ever since I’ve been working two jobs, I’m way more thoughtful about my time. I don’t wanna be playing games where it feels like a third job.
Never played any game from this series. The complexity this game has to offer along with your choices actually having consequences might be enough for me to buy on release
6:40 My neck nearly snapped and I almost instantly stopped respecting your opinion. I will continue listening to see if it changes back.
I love dos2 and am looking foward to this one
It's true there are entire religions tied to documented and fully fleshed out societies that are more complex and well thought out than many real world religions that actually exist.
Larian + D&D was always going to be a god tier combo. Hype doesn't even begin to approach where I'm at on this lol
This, hades and a few others make a great case for early access. The devs get money to further development and the gamer gets to play the game as its built.
Cant wait for the full release. Gonna be making a Sorlock (sorcerer warlock multiclass), and romancing Gale, cause he's my boy. I was sold on his character from as early as the 1st live demonstration Swen gave, but Gale's genuine anger and worry over my character being poisoned in the Druid Groove solidified him as my favorite character in the game.
Ya gale is awesome, I think all the characters have some interesting arcs honestly
@@FranklyGamingIf you haven't already I heavily recommend watching the DOS1 documentary. It's such an interesting journey.
A genuine question here.
I've loved divinity Original Sin games, and never player any Baldurs Gate games.
Would it be worth getting into them now, or it's fine to just play the 3rd by itself?
It truly looks like a fun game and experience.
You don't need to play the first two BG games, though many RPG lovers swear by them.
Although BG2 is my favourite rpg of all time, I would say just play BG3 because it is more similar to DOS 1&2. Also BG 1&2 just feel very outdated today, so if you enjoyed pillars of eternity you could give them a try, otherwise play BG3! BG 3 plays roughly 100 years after BG2 so I don't think you really need to know the story of the previous two games, altgough you might not know some of the npc's that will make a comeback like Minsc and Jaheira.
Thanks for this video. I tried this out AGAIN after about a couple years to see if certain things have been fixed. I do use an RTX3060 video card, Ryzen 5 - 5600 PC. Something I noticed that is sadly still present is that the game will just randomly "freeze", or rather "pause" every so often. But it is not exactly that since it's mostly like the audio completely cuts out and you can't click on anything until it "resumes", and I'm talking about just sitting there in the main menu screen when the game starts up. Furthermore, I have notice this "pausing" thing persists even when in game. So the sound cuts out, and I'm just sliding across the screen, no walk/run animation. This happens no mater if I use DX11 or Vulcan so I just can't understand why this is. It seems to work my video card to around 75 - 80c (according to MSI Afterburner), no water the graphics settings (low, high...it matters not). Other than that, the game seems solid and I'm glad they included the bard class finally. Have you encountered issues such as this?
I think it’s the game doing auto saves have the same issues but it’s fairly quick since my computer is very fast, it’s actually maybe my main complaint I hope they solve for launch, that being saving and autosaved always cause a slight freeze where as in there previous games it’s instant and fluid
@@FranklyGaming Thank you for the quick reply. The thing about this though it's not an autosave as those ones are almost instant, like a split second to a second and I believe it says autosave. These "pausing/freeze" issue even happens just sitting idle in the main menu.
@@Lettuce_Play oh interesting ya I don’t get anything like that
@@FranklyGaming Which Character is the best overall new choice for a new player in the beta on pc?
@@SpaceAdmiral792t warlock is strong with Eldrich blast since it’s basic otherwise best probably like a fighter since it’s basic
No coincidence that you used the Mass Effect soundtrack when talking about creating a world
Glad you noticed haha
I'll always be amazed that there's basically only one game that follows the Original Sin formula [and Baldur's Gate 3 doesn't count since it's made by Larian Studios too].
