I'm 54 & loved The Six Million Dollar Man as a kid. Better, Stronger, Faster
Another great story that I had no idea about
    Thanks as always!

Ah, Olden Times, when 'hey kid, wanna see a dead body' was a legitimate business pitch

He was an epic fail of a bandit, and sure 'lived up' to his legendary last words while then leading an eventful afterlife. To think he'd become more famous after death than become the next Curly Bill or Black Bart.

I actually remember reading about the story when it happened, but I never knew the details. Thank you!

"Elmer! You were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off", (in a Michael Caine accent).

"Best bloody locksmith.." in a Sean Connery accent.

    The 6 Million Dollar Man,
brings me right back. I still hear the sound as his action starts and the frame goes into slow-motion.
Throwing a giant iron bar with concrete still on it, or just looking far out of range for a near-mortal with his special eyesight in one eye. LOL

The sound effects with the slow motion always tickled me. On a side note, the channel Sam O'nella Academy made a funny short video about him. It's worth a watch if for nothing else than a wee bit of nostalgia 😄

Which part? Being a fuck wit of a bandit, being used by some assholes to make a few bucks displaying your corpse, dying in a shootout, becoming a dead prop on a moderately successful series or the uncanny valley bit? 😆

Familiar with this story ..yet still creepy thinking its a movie prop wax figure and findung out it's a corpse.. Hollywood has in fact used real skeletons in films like poltergeist movie..

the guy who broke off the fingers, later crushed them up and mixed them with water into a sticky pulp.
he figured out this mixture had great adhesive properties and so "Elmer's Glue" was born.
till this day the glue is still made out of human fingers, which are provided by various south-american cartells.
this story is absolutely true and not made up by me, I swear.

Pretty crazy that they put a $1,000 bounty on him which is more than he stole. Then he became more famous in death than in life.

5:40 you say St Joseph *KANSAS* but the map has the star in *MISSOURI* about 30 miles (50 km) west of St Joseph, *Missouri*
Along that part of the Missouri River (different than the State of Missouri) the is the Border between the two states, Leavenworth is on the west side in Kansas, St Joe's is on the East side in Missouri.
