This bike is my dream bike. And I love that it’s made just down the road from me in Toronto which is a lot of the allure to me!! 🇨🇦
Ha! You’re on my home training climb. Glad you enjoyed it!
I can see a lot of future road bikes looking like this.
Seemed to be a theme at Sea Otter.
Sporty bikes with integrated front ends, normal seatposts with standard seatclamps and clearance for wide tyres.
I like it!
Going to hold off buying a second hand bike for another year once these nice internal routed, integrated cockpit bikes start showing up on ebay.
Integrated cockpit? No thanks!
Incredible roads...please post more info or a strava link for those roads!
I’m loving the Cannondale Topstone Lab 71 for the same reasons!! And it has mounts.
This is the sort of bike I’d like to buy. Simple multi purpose all rounder. Are they coming to Wales? Good review mate.
Probably the best bike I've seen if you wanted to swap wheels for road gravel double duty
That was my thought as well. A set of road wheels and a set of dirt.
Check out Lauf Seigla Rigid instead. 57mm tire clearance, threaded BB, no integrated BS, performance fit (but not extreme), very good money for value on the build specs offered... Being able to put everything from a typical 32mil road slick to a 57mm fast-rolling xc mtb tire is absolutely gold. 40mm is great for champagne gravel, but is woefully insufficient to run low enough pressures to enjoy let alone endure actual rough roads.
david, these folks are 100km from me and i've been eyeballing this bike (well, i'd buy a frameset) for over a year now. it definitely does seem to tick all of my boxes as well; currently riding a 3T Exploro RaceMax that also handles any kind of riding (with a more diverse tire fitment range), but i am really drawn to the Surveyor. thanks for the review!
Geometry too aggressive for me but I hope the brand is successful 🤞.
I’m in the same boat. I love the idea of a quick handling bike that can be taken on light gravel and dirt roads. But that stack height is too low for my achy back.
Agree - I have tried some of the slacker bikes and they are so much better off road, descending etc. Awesome brand - but I bet gen 2 will be a bit slacker
Quick handling on the road can be a handful on dirt and gravel. Tires play a massive roll too. Unless you’re swapping out rubber for those trail forays, riders will be hobbled pretty much independent of geometry.
I notice a massive difference between a city tire (all weather, reasonable rolling resistance, and good puncture protection) and a light gravel tire (wider, softer sidewalls, different tread pattern). And that’s on the same bike and rim.
The differences are in cornering and holding power. Both are slower when operated outside their design parameters. The city tire gets way hairier on loose corners though, whereas a gravel tire retains its composure on city roads.
Most amateur riders don't need this type of geometry.......I don't get the problem people have with Endurance bikes........
Another "Starting from 7800$" bike company that GC preformance will make a " ANOTHER BRAND BANKRUPT " video on
“Is cycling industry in trouble…” 😂😂😂
The high end market has been pretty stable for quite a while, not big but stable, it’s the mid-low end market that have significant demand swings that get brands in trouble with inventory.
probably not, mostly because these small high end companies are pretty much made to order, and usually have slight waiting times, so bankruptcy probably won't happen cause they never actually have lots of bikes that no one wants. The reason why companies get into trouble is usually because they made a bunch of bikes that nobody wants
Sounds okay.. Will they/do they offer different geo, eg higher stack etc?
Almost identical to the geo 55cm to the Ritchey Swiss Cross size Large which I love to ride with 700x38c. Something about that race geo with wide tyres that just makes it so much fun on all road surfaces.
would a modern endurance-type bike, e.g. the new BMC Roadmachine, with knobby, wider tires have handled the route as well?
What do u think about new Pro Steath? Better than older version?
Great video! What route did you take to make this video?
The climb is Perfumo Canyon and then descending See Canyon out of San Luis Obispo, California
Thanks Dave! I have been waiting for your impressions on the Bridge Surveyor, how does it compare to the Enve Fray? Same kind of (comfy) allrounder or more racy?
Similar levels of comfort but the Bridge is racier with the lower stack which you really notice (positively for me) but I do like the fender mounts and down tube storage on the Fray
great bike. love it
Nice looking bike and its design appeals to me (however we would classify it).
It's a lovely bike. As an Australian, I'll probably end up with a Giant Defy or a Specialised Roubaix. (I probably spelt that wrong.)
Very good bike
Unless someone is actually racing it, if you are a short rider I'd avoid. Short wheelbase and wide 700c tires is recepie of toe overlap. Understand that going 650b would make you slower and all that.. but for the avarage Joe just go 650b mate, if you don't wanna go straight in those funny fails videos..
ORIGINE's also built a new full cycle factory home in France...
I want one 😊😂, will suit Australia 👍
I think most of your points apply to my bike my quiver killer: factor ls. I looked at Bridge before buying my frame. Pricing was too high. It is a beautiful bike though.
Ouch!! Too much for me. Enjoy your videos
Isn't a bike like that a CX bike. Road race geometry with wife tire clearance.
Does this have the carbon threads for the BB? I hope not..
yes it does and nothing so far to suggest they are an issue - but time will tell
Anyone know what bike computer that is?
Wahoo Elemnt Roam
Love the colour 🎉
I like where this and other brands are going, bluring the all-road/endurance/gravel lines, and this is a nice looking bike, but at $15K for their Red build, I'd much rather own/ride the Fray. Neither of these are what I'd call a "deal" or highest value. I'd put the Lauf Seigla at the top of the list for value in a gravel category, Ventum GS1, Canyon Grail and the new Aspero are close seconds in value provided, IMHO.
The majority of people don’t need race bikes, nor will they be able to discern the practical difference between race and fitness geometry. Most of those who do will shrug and roll their eyes while exhaling a “whatever”.
Fit and fit for purpose are reasonably important. Emphasis on “reasonably”. Nothing for the recreational or enthusiast bike rider to get too worked up about.
Still doesn’t prevent people from banging on at coffee shops, which are the velodromes of the masses… where the contest to impress happens without turning a wheel.
Exactly!! Somebody who gets it........race bikes are wasted on normal riders.
Another bike very similar with iCan bike frame.
You ride so many bikes .. u are becoming a prolific bike peddler .. 🙃
I'd go crux over this tbh. Also a dynamic ride, maybe not as race geo, but much better do it all in terms of cockpit customization options and wider tire fitment if/when needed for burlier gravel/singletrack.
Crux was the first thing that sprung to mind for me when he read the specs.
Also 3T extrema and ridley kanzo adventure.
@@dasdWARf Three really nice options
Yup, agree 👍
factor ls
Same. And with the discounts Specialized/ bike shops are offering on all Crux models, it makes it had to choose anything else if you're in the market for an endurance/ gravel bike. I personally just got the Crux Expert at my LBS for for $4100. That's a lightweight frame with the type of geo I'm looking for, electronic shifting and Roval carbon wheels. No UDH though and a couple mounts for top tube storage would have been somewhat nice.
True. A race-ish bike with plump tires is a wonderful ride. Like that off-road rally car version Lamborghini just built. 95% sport car with a nice touch of extra capability actually adds to the joy of the ride, doesn't take away.
Lost me at 40mil tire clearance for "everything" Are your gravel roads paved in the UK? lol
Well it's not a pure gravel bike as I said but for many people I know that will be enough, but yes for me a gravel bike wants 45mm tyre clearance - this is an all-road bike remember
@@davidarthur hmm looks like I jumped on too quickly, your title does say clearly "all-road".... you didn't just update that from "do everything" did you 😉
It's fairly normal to change titles and thumbnails on UA-cam to ensure the best response. And some people take some words too literally don't they ;)
@@davidarthurso we're both guilty hahaha
40mm not that wide these days
For a road bike it is, most endurance bikes are now at 40mm which is the category this bike broadly falls within
"...See 'em Hype Train running
And you watch 'em disappear..."
Cost is a joke again. People are struggling at the moment so what makes them want to fork out for this one then. 🤔🤔🤔🤔
it's a more niche or bespoke bike company, housed in a major North American city. They're not marketing to budget cyclists.
Another $5500 frameset. STOP
$4000 actually, if you watched the whole video ;) and one that's made in Toronto too
@@davidarthur US maybe. Listed at 5,499.99 can
@@KevinMatassa yes, I was using US prices for comparisons, so $4k for the Bridge versus $5.5k for the Fray
Hunt wheels suck
I've got some they've been good to me
yes, they do. Lets the bike down.
why?
All the youtuber's should stop to promote expensive bikes. There are absolutely no valid reasons a bike costs the same as a motorcycle. Look at this bike, everything is simple and it costs $12K Cdn for an ultegra bike. This is insane.
This bike ranges from 8500-15k!!! 🤦🏽♂️. Waste of time watching this as an average “bloak”. Should of told us that RIGHT from the beginning mate.
